Going out of your way to do the right thing when no one else is looking or knows and likely never will know is the difference between being good and acting good
A hero will sacrifice the person they love to save the world, but a villain would sacrifice the world to save the one they love
the iphone 4 problem reminds me of the programmer that found that a third party company put a bunch of sleep timers in the program they were contracted to do, and they had comments that said "remove this when they pay us to fix it" or something along those lines.

This makes sense to me. Every time Linus says they won't read superchats with the reason he gives that they seem to be broken on youtube, why hasn't he just disabled them? It reminds me of how scientists go through the process of gathering evidence as facts, that then leads to a hypothesis, and finally to their theory. If any facts come up that cause some of that theory to not be valid, they can't just ignore those inconvenient facts. They have have to rethink their hypothesis that lead to the theory. So despite every time Linus says we don't read superchats because youtube is broken and doesn't show them to him, why doesn't he just disable them?
My dad reinforced the idea of doing good even when no one's looking and it's something that's stuck with me. It's unfortunate that too many people justify bad behavior with whataboutisms while being woefully ignorant about how the world actually works.
You have a damn good moral compass Louis
No one comes back for messed up repairs I do during my day job unless I film them interestingly enough lol
People don't post superchats to get creators to read them, they do it to get creators to respond to them. It usually works, too!
Hay Louis I Just wanted to let you know why i believe so many people think a grate deal of you compared to others. It’s the way you don’t worry about how people may react to your honesty, you are just honest even though it is just simply so you can sleep nights. It’s your moral honesty about how human you are, That is why people respect you world wide & will keep enjoying rants. Because oh boy can you rant . Look forward to the next rant hi from Australia

welcome back, brother
I'm not defending this, but I did phone repair back when the iPhone 4 and 4S were relevant. While I'm good with repairing electronics, at that time I haven't fixed an iPhone 4 and I wasn't told about the foam piece in my training. I ended up having to learn about it on my own to move it over. More than likely the foam piece like in my case was likely just something that was overlooked when training employees (if they're even trained at all). A job should be done right the first time, but they probably saw it as building goodwill (and as you said an opportunity for filling the tip jar)
I am here for hardware repair videos. They were never about learning how to fix macbooks, but soldering ASMR with random rant over it

Same but it was *only* about learning something new.
i know this story already, but relating it to more current events like the tv knife is kinda mind blowing lol 10/10 sir
We're all flawed, easily influenced, creatures, the best you can do, is trying to do the right thing..
I always have a little doubt about people that do "good" in front of others. The people that i found in this life that i considered true good were always trying to fix stuff in the shadows. But fuck me it is a hard path. Not religious, but from what i remember even the bible says bad things about this kind of hypocrisy. It's a really old concept. Anyway, good video Louis. Never stopped to think about the unconscious part. I think this also enters a little in the Survivorship bias. People say good things about the service because they overlook the multiple problems that are not exposed.
Yay I miss these style videos
A phone I cannot drop 50 cm is not for me. I used a Moto G5 for almost a decade and it fell to the ground thousand times and is still worked fine when (believe or not) it was stolen. PS: it had just a normal thin silicon case but no film on the screen. Yes, it cracked, but working fine both the image AND touch.
You're describing the entire population's response to most negative externalities. Welcome to earth.
Not gonna lie, kinda missing those "ol days" of board repair streams. You can do one once in a while still if you like you know ! ;) I promise i´ll tone down any and all trolling by at least 25% xD
Thanks for another thought provoking video
God Bless and Thank You for Your Work!

I still remember the ghost video!!
as a kid I had an iphone 4 in a drawer for a month because I was grounded from it, when I got it back the touch screen quit working. I wonder if that had something to do with the missing foam piece. oh well.
"Can't we all just get along?"
Nice
Man, watching your videos reminds me of the old Far Side comic where there's this normal looking guy in a convertible sports car is driving down the road and there's a bunch of athletes and such on the sidewalk with one of them commenting, "He must be a scientist." At what point did doing what's right end up being "wrong"?
I'm not the good guy, but I left a like on your vid

Does Hilary Rosen still run the RIAA or is it in the MPAA?
Hi
Psychology - it's a thing. Learn it.
I believe consistency in providing a service or product is a necessary ethic. Otherwise, you're essentially cheating anyone who receives less for the same price, even if you never agreed in writing to provide the same thing. For example, if you put more or less of some ingredient or extra parts in a product, but charge the same. Sales people often engage in inconsistency, selling the same car to three different people for three different prices. I provide the same service to my clients in pest control, even when most of them would likely never notice or care about minor things, because it makes me feel uneasy inside, if I skip or forget something; occasionally, someone will ask for me to skip something, which causes the same feeling. I've even lowered the price, despite the company not desiring that, because the property was so small that our base price was something I simply could not charge knowing I would be spending half the time there as a typical service. Even if it doesn't make you uneasy, most people like myself make sure to do it knowing someone above is watching. Like you said, I'm not perfect or good all the time, but that's not a reason to not try to be better.
Linus has adressed this in the past: "If people really want to throw money at the screen even after I tell them not to, I'm not gonna actively stop them. 5 bucks is 5 bucks and every little bit helps when you're trying to build a tech media empire."
@rossmanngroup

He could tell them not to with a pinned message
How hard could it be for the engineer when they've already done this a thousand times before?
The only conclusion I can come to by the end of this video is that you, Louis, are the most evil person to have ever existed! ;)
Upload some "quality content" please and Thank You!
Bingo, you will be born owning nothing, and not even understand what that is 300 baud, become you have from green screen, where 30wpm would over run the buffer, truly politic
Linus is one of the most detestable people that I know.
