1) I routinely instruct my audience, in my most popular videos, to install adblockers. not just one adblocker; MULTIPLE adblockers(brave with shields turned on/firefox, ublock origin, pfblockerng). In the one I'm referring to here, I *demand* they install adblockers, and provide a glimpse into the dystopian future we will live in if advertisers continue to gain the upper hand in every area of our lives. 2) I make content that does not leave the door open *even 1%* to being _"brand safe."_ 3) I haven't taken a single sponsor in 12 years on youtube. The only time I clicked the _"video is sponsored"_ tab is when I showcased open source, free software projects of my choosing that received grants on my direction from a billionaire's money to fund their development. 4) The production & editing quality of almost all of my videos is absolute garbage, with zero effort put in. I find it funny when people say this is a giant grift or something. If someone were to write a book on how to *NOT* make money off youtube, it'd be a biography of my channel.

I love the idea of an alrernate reality Louis that is possessive over his videoes, viewing each as a unique piece of art to be readily defended from interlopers.

You have always been upfront with your thoughts on right to repair and many other topics for years. Remember finding you from LTT and then found this channel. Good stuff and appreciate the thoughts and opinions you provide

I would have suggested adding a caveat to the effect of as long as it isn't cut out of context to make it look like you are putting a point across which is against your principles or the message you actually promoting. Kudos to your ethics though 👌

I've been an off and on fan of Asmon since wow classic relaunched a few years. Literally didn't know who the dude was until everyone started ganking him in that game honestly ganking was the most fun part of that whole deal. While I do like some of this takes; the character he plays is pretty cringe and it's hard to separate what is just his character and what is the real him. I dislike react tubers in general because most of the time it's just people using other people's content without adding anything of value. However, if the creator is fine with them using the content, then there's zero reason to be upset about it in my mind.

But most people don't do youtube to spread a message, they do it to live out their passion and make money. And if you've spent hundreds of hours meticulously editing a documentary and the next day, some twitch streamer reacts to it and steals millions of views from you (because people don't usually watch youtube videos twice; the reaction is a perfect market replacement), you'd be upset, too. There are very few youtubers who can even afford this kind of mindset while also paying rent.

Much respect for your efforts to educate the masses, you're a modern day hero :)

If this was all true, you wouldn't fuss the cat. You'd pick them up every time, because cats get views, and views get the message out.

Your content is pretty unique in the way that your only goal is to spread a message and you say yourself that it's not hard to make, just talk into a camera for 20 minutes. But there are people out there getting hundreds of hours of work stolen by people like asmongold, hasan, xqc, etc. who show the entire video front to back and occasionally pause to say something. I think that's pretty egregious, obvious copyright infringement and should be litigated.

Asmongold is just really popular. He honestly doesn't steal content and often tells others to subscribe and watch the original content. His YT channel has over 2.5 million subscribers, it's just natural for his videos to get more coverage. I have been subscribed to both you and Asmongold for nearly 5 years now and this crossover episode is something I never thought would happen.

Telling others to subscribe is 1) not effective whatsoever after just showing their entire video on stream and 2) doesn't make it NOT content theft. Asmongold does not license videos for money. He doesn't ask permission before using videos. And he shows videos in full length with only occasional pauses, making the reaction a perfect market replacement for the original. He gets all the advantages of doing 100 hours of work in just 20 minutes of watching a video. Reactions of this form violate the digital millennium copyright act, they sabotage the online creator market and they are horribly immoral, even separately from all that. Imagine if I went to your house, saw you had a really cool original painting you just finished. You tell me it's supposed to go up in an art installation that will pay you 20 bucks per person who buys tickets. Then I take a picture of your painting, print it out, put it into my own much much more popular gallery, sack all of the money from people coming to see it (with my live commentary of course), and tell them to also go to your smaller gallery to see the same painting again, except without my commentary. Would you not be upset? Do you think any of the guests would go to your gallery after that? In reality, we know that reaction content has either no effect on the original's views or it can even have a negative effect on future view numbers, mostly when the video being reacted to is unique among channel content, leading to people subscribing and then not watching the other content, leading to the channel having a negative audience retention rating, and tanking it in the algorithm.

He still violates copyright law, still steals views from others, still takes people's labor and prevents them from making money from it, still sabotages the creator economy. Those things aren't invalid because he doesn't make money from it.
