I absolutely love Beamish 😊 my parents took me many times when I was a child, and now I have a child of my own we visit as often as we can. I know every inch of Beamish as I’ve been that many times - but each time I go I always see something new as the exhibits in each shop, house and building gets rotated regularly. It’s a place you have to visit, especially if you actually live in the North East

I would love to go to Elizabeth's Hair salon and get a hairstyle from 1950s, that's one of the coolest things I have ever heard! This is the coolest museum I have ever seen, thanks for introducing to us. I have added it on my bucket list!

I am so happy I found this video to give me a little throwback to when I was studying abroad in Newcastle, fell in LOVE with Beamish and visited I think 4 times in the span of less than 3 months. This museum is lovely, the people working there are so knowledgeable and helpful (I even recognised one of the people I met and had a whole conversation with about the suffragette movement) The baked goods and sweets are amazing, the environment is beautiful and… really… just go see it… it’s even more beautiful to experience in real life than this great video showed. Again, thank you so much for bringing me back for a bit ❤❤

This has been a nostalgic blast from the past for me as I have been to Beamish many times from a young child. I am Scottish but my Nana and aunts, uncles and cousins all live in County Durham. I travelled on the tram, steam train, and coach. I went down the drift mine and saw the pit ponies. My mum had a colleague here in Scotland who's father-in-law's childhood home was rebuilt brick by brick at Beamish in the mining homes. The father, grandfather and great-grandfather were all miners. Her and her husband travelled several times to Beamish to see his grand-father's home. We visited the 1900's street and had our photo taken in traditional costumes. They were fronts only, tied at the back and was funny to see in our home movie as we were wearing shorts from behind. I remember visiting the dentist who showed that it was a foot operated drill and he said you want to come first thing as my leg gets tired as the day goes on and my hand starts to shake. He also explained that it was cheaper then for people to get all their teeth taken out than to repair one tooth. It was only the rich who got dental repairs and the poor had them all removed and even then false teeth were really only available to the wealthy. Thanks for your video as I had no idea that Beamish was being constantly expanded. I hope to visit my aunt nearby and visit Beamish again this summer. It's over 25 years since I was last there. My parents have both passed away but our Beamish photo is still wall-mounted. I remember my mum saying she looked like her gran in the photo with the clothes on. I must have been in my early twenties. A lot of great, treasured memories.
