@@darthplagueis8886he isn’t a defensive midfielder, he is more of an 8, his defensive qualities are above average at best. We need someone who can do the dirty work to let kimmich move up, a “Casemiro/Rodri” like player.

One of the biggest problems is Kimmich getting too creative (or daring) when the attack isn't getting anywhere. That's why Tuchel was prodding at him by saying he wants a real holding 6.

All the talks about Lewandowski shows how much the football world is obsessed with strikers. We simply forget that for all the insane number of goals that Lewandowski was scoring for Bayern there was a man at the other end of the pitch Manuel Neuer who was putting in similar world class performances year after year and saving insane number of goals. In Kane Bayern could have found a like for like replacement for Lewandowski but who fills the giant hole left behind by Neuer?

I am a Bayern fan, I really miss Nagelsmann. I do trust TT, but we really need a good DM. Kimmich is now more like a #8, and not suited for #6. Kim Min Jae, Konrad Laimer, Guerreiro and Kane are really good signings, but DM is a very imp role in modern football. Laimer is good, but not suited for #6, just like Kimmich. Also Neuer's recovery has caused another issue. Hope we do well this season.

I mean, he is right? Kimmich is and never has been a 6. These German players on the team like neuer, kimmich etc have too much influence on the team. All our treble/sextuple winning teams have had a 6 in them, 2013, javi Martinez. 2020, Thiago alcantara. Tuchel has shown the board we NEED a number 6, which is why we haven’t been stable from the back, certain players like de ligt have even outlined that problem I believe. These core players are way too protected imo, somehow they can never be criticized without backlash.

The thing with Bayern and Tuchel is that Bayern already wanted Tuchel years ago, but back then Bayern took too long to decide and by that point Tuchel had given his word to PSG so he went there. So when Tuchel was on the market again and Bayern had very random performances (sometimes excellent, sometimes terrible ) Kahn and Salihamidzic (aka Brazzo, that's easier :D) wanted to get Tuchel instead of Nagelsmann instantly and got the "ok" from the higher ups for that move. However, just a few weeks earlier president Hainer said that they will support Nagelsmann and Bayern had just beaten PSG very convincingly in the CL and then lost 1:2 to a strong Alonso led Leverkusen, but they were still going strong in all three major competitions. Firing the coach at that point most likely created a lot of uncertainty and insecurity among the players, especially some that were very close with Nagelsmann, such as Kimmich. After all I think it was a perfect storm of several things and bad luck that led to the current situation, such as the terrible showing of the German national team at the world cup in Qatar which ruined the form of several of Bayern's key players, Neuer ending his season by going skiing, Choupo-Moting (who was their striker, so they *did* have one) injuring himself after he had great form in the later stages of the season, and so on. Nonetheless, Kahn and Brazzo were responsible for that move and the results were a disaster, so they had to go. I think it was very unfair to fire Nagelsmann at that point, he should at least have been given the chance to finish the season...but that might have meant that Tuchel would have been off the market again and there was no other solution for Bayern, it was either Tuchel or stick with Nagelsmann for longer. Tuchel is known to be a difficult character and coaching Bayern is not the same as coaching some random state-owned or billionaire club. Everyone who has real power at Bayern was either very successful in their previous fields (Hainer, Dreesen) or were world class footballers themselves (Hoeneß, Rummenigge, Kahn, Brazzo), so current top players at the club also have a LOT of power because they are actually being listened to. "Losing the cabin" as we like to say in German is a real thing and if you don't have the support of the key players for one reason or another your days as Bayern coach are close to over.

There has been a series of unfortunate events and decision making since last season but the situation with Neuer is what worries me the most. I respect him as a player and he'll always be a GOAT but the saga needs to come to an end. They need to make a new signing! Or Kane is bound to be tagged with the "trophyless" title for the rest of his career.

​@@dris6I think a big problem is that Bayern has had world class German goalkeepers that were leaders for a long time now (remember the painful time between Kahn and Neuer?), so having a foreign goal keeper as the new #1 could be an issue and there is no world class #1 German goalkeeper on the market right now - there probably isn't even one in general apart from ter Stegen at this time. I am not sure Bayern actually know what they want to do. The irony is that Nagelsmann was actually on the way to decrease Neuer's power in the club by firing his GK coach friend, but then Nagelsmann got fired and that strengthened Neuer's position a lot.

@@MrReese Completely agree with you. I always assumed sacking of Nagelsmann had a lot to do with the power a disgruntled Neuer had over the club. And they should have treated Nubel better and even trained him better. But Neuer had found a complicit in Ulreich so that was bound to happen. But all good things must come to an end and the big bosses at Bayern and the captain himself need to come out of this denial phase. Instead they are busy scamming Harry Kane by playing the UCL theme during his presentation. We will be lucky to get out of the group stage with Ulreich. As a Bayern fan this hurts a lot.

Apart from an imbalanced squad which has gotten much better with the last transfer window, Bayern seems to have an attitude problem. One of the things that made them so scary over the last eleven years was that they had this hunger, confidence and determination to win. They are down 0-1 in the 84th minute? Somehow they still managed to win. People call it "Bayern-luck", but its not luck. The top scorer Gnabry is the perfect example of how Bayern played last season. Weaker opponent and everything is going your way? They win 6-0. They face resistance and a setback in game? They suddenly look insecure, nothing works and their whole game falls apart. If you were to remove Gnabry's scorer points against the bottom 5 teams he'd be down to 8 from 20. So a bit of a "small game player"? That's exactly what Bayern as a whole looked like last season. A bunch of very gifted, small game players.

Its not either. Its quality. They win cause of their quality. Especially the quality of their finisher. With no one to finish their chances how do they win? Gnabry was always a winger to begin with and he isnt a Robben or Ribery. So what was the expectation? Gnabry has been weak at Bayern for years but still gets his start and still goes home with a large paycheck so why? He plays a few games does really well to score a few then disappears.

Won the league with tuchel? Nah, nearly lost it due to BVB's choke.. Firing Julian Nagelsmann will be a haunting decision for Bayern. Julian had amazing ideeas and tactics, respecting muller's impact on the pitch.. if only he was here for this season, you would see a dominating bayern munchen again, like 2020, but instead you will see them losing everything this year. Tuchel is not for bayern, and vice-versa. Hopefully maybe Julian comes back one day to win a sextuple or more, provided he will have this year's team or even better

I just don't see how he becomes a flop. Not with Bayern's strength in midfield and the strength of the league. Maybe he won't blow everyone away, but I think he's exactly the player they need up front. He's perfectly positioned, considering the entire German game has been struggling for world class strikers since Lewa. Plus, he's experienced, calm, and said he's looking forward to providing the team with goals and helping create a winning mentality. If they can get their other issues sorted out, they're gonna be a force to be reckoned with. But one way or the other, Kane fits perfectly into the mold, I think he's an amazing player, well worth the 100 mil if Bayern plays it right, and wish him the best.

Munichs "problems" will basically fix themselves, even though Harry Kane will help... Unless he takes along his Spurs curse. Here is something everyone ignores: Since the lockdown ended (you know, that brief period, where no games were played for 8 weeks in March 2020), Bayern players competed in over 30 more games, then Borussia Dortmund players, since they had to compete in the Champions League Final tournament, various Supercups, the Club World Championship and advanced further in the Champions League every year. And they also played for their respective National Teams. Those extra minutes and miles on a plane just add up. Unsurprisingly, Chelsea ran against the same wall Bayern did. Bayern was just exhausted at the end of last season. Now they got a real break and a desperately needed vacation. I 100 % expect Kimmich, Goretzka and Musiala to bounce back. Of course, nobody talks about this, because you would need to acknowledge, how greedy the football clubs were during the pandemic. You only complain and question the schedule, when the players travel for their national teams...

Bayern fan. There exists a future right now where Bayern finish 3rd in the Bundesliga lol Tuchel's style of football is different from what Nagelmann and Flick played at Bayern where the center backs play the balls forward. Tuchel likes having a defensive midfielder that connects the defensive with the midfield and stays back to help cover for the defenders. Bayern do not have a player like that on the squad and Tuchel has basically been kicking and screaming for one right now. So much so that it is angering a lot of the current midfielders on the squad, and Tuchel is not exactly known for his calm demeanor. Yes, the squad will probably score plenty of goals this season due to Kane's unique style of play, but they will also concede a lot. Something that was apparent in the matches in preseason against City, Liverpool, and Monaco. Not just because of the defensive mid issue, but because Bayern are also in somewhat of a goal keeping crisis. Neuer is a club legend at this point, but he has been continuously injured the last three seasons. His contract runs until 2024 and it is hard to bring someone in without alienating the captain. Right now the club only has 37 year old Ulreich as a keeper. It is unknown if they will bring someone in who is good enough to stay at number one, a player who will be okay with the bench if Neuer comes back, or someone to play on the bench in case something happens to Ulreich. There are also issues at right back, Pavard has been vocal about leaving and basically liking all of Manchester United's posts on Instagram but Tuchel insists on starting him. TLR, I love Bayern, but I'm worried we might implode this season. Due to 3 primary issues: - Lack of a Defensive Midfielder - Goal keeping crisis - Tuchel doesn't seem popular with the squad On the bright side, I think we will score plenty of goals this season and the team has a fantastic new Sporting Director in Christoph Freund.

Talking about the England national football team, there was a big news right now when the FA will likely confirm that a women will ever manage the men's team when Southgate left in 2024. And that is none other than Sarina Wiegman, who led the Lionesses to historic Euro 2022 triumph and now are in the Women's World Cup Final on Sunday!

For some countries, only winning the league and not reaching the final of any other tournament that year, is to be in crisis. And it gets worse the more money they spend.

The only player with a similar level of consistency of dual threat in creativity and goal scoring in the prem is Salah

It may be a bit embarrassing but the best solution Bayern have at hand for their current problem is to bring Nagelsmann back. He still has a contract and if he says yes all their problems are solved. Maybe give Tuchel 2 months to improve but if he doesn't improve you will have to sack him.
