With Schwarzy it was more a miscast problem: if you hire Schwarzy you get...well...Schwarzy, but if you hire Tommy Lee Jones you can get something better than this trash! I don't know what he was thinking! You know how some good actors go on a "don't give a crap mode" because they know the movie is gonna be garbage...BUT, when the WORST part of that garbage it's YOU, yeeeah, you must rethink about it. Yeah, this is why I don't mind the Schumacher Batflicks as much as most people. I'm fine accepting them as simply being in the tradition of the 60s Batman. Batman tends to veer wildly between ultra-dark and ultra-silly, so whatev. A couple silly movies got made, and they can be fun on that level. It's not like their existence cancels out 1989 Batman or the Nolan trilogy or anything. Both Batmans can coexist.

However if Batman and Robin was successful then we would of had Batman Triumphant which they planned having Harley played by Madonna and she was the Joker's daughter...and Batgirl and Robin die due to the poison in the water. The poison or chemical in water idea was used for Batman Begins.

Batman is a lot more scarier when he’s sounds calm, giving off the vibe to his antagonists that he is in control of the situation and that they’re about to get an a** kicking that they can’t do nothing about. To put it this way: Bale’s voice is someone attempting to imitate a demon, while Conroy and Keaton’s are the voices of demons.

Honestly this could be the plot to a Riddler centered Batman movie. Just use the Riddler's plot don't use Jim Carrie, take out Twoface. The whole plot is Riddler getting parts for his computer to hack everyone's information leaving Riddles for Batman. It could be a mystery detective movie showing off more of Batman's detective skills. similar to what they did in Sherlock Holmes with RDJ. But with them giving use a fight scene like from BvS (warehouse scene) and a scene where he takes out like 12 people similarly to the Arkham games showing off his ninja skills. Not enough movies show off his stealth skills. have Batman hack a security system to sneak into a building and Riddler hack the same system turning it back on to trap batman. There are a lot of ways they could make a great Batman movie, But the studio would probably screw it up.

A film where Bruce is faced with whether Bruce or Batman defines him and whether or not he wants to be Batman forever, where he takes in Dick Grayson and tries to keep him from ending up as he did, and where the villains are Two-Face and The Riddler: perfect villains for challenging Batman's conflicted identity; that could've been a great Batman film.

Connor Caldwell I love Jim Carrey, but what I actually hate about the three films that followed Tim Burton's original (okay, maybe not true for Batman Returns) was the fact that every villain acted like the Joker! There was no distinction whatsoever between their personalities. Well, that and the stupid puns, the ridiculous plot holes, the major deviations from the source material (Batgirl was Jim Gordon's daughter, not Alfred's niece for fuck sake! Still not letting that one go)............

Tommy probably was jealous over Jim Carey. They put Jim in the movie because they knew what kind of over the top performance they were gonna get. This was at the time when Jim Carey was a top box office comedy star, pumping out hit after hit. Tommy was probably upset because he thought he had to act as over the top as Carey, this is a guy who had just won an oscar for a serious performance. He probably felt like an idiot trying to compete with Carey for screen time in what was essentially an action comedy, hence the hostility toward Carey.

Fun fact: Riddler's original costume in the comics is closer to the skin tight thing he wears at the end of the movie than his now iconic suit and bowler hat. The later outfit came to be from, of all places, the Adam West show. The actor didn't want to humiliate himself that much, so a deal was made and he would wear each costume half of the time.

Considering Tommy Lee Jones hated Jim Carrey during production of this film, I think he was basically trying too hard to overshadow his performance as The Riddler. Tommy Lee Jones can be a great actor but I think when it comes to acting alongside Jim Carrey, the problem is that Jim Carrey can never be overshadowed no matter his style. I used to think Batman Forever was okay when I saw it but even I thought Tommy Lee Jones ' portrayal of Two-Face wasn't good either
