Basics of Screw-Holding Screwdrivers - a kind of screw starter.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The basics of screw-holding screwdrivers - the weird screwdriver "with that thing on it" in your grandpa's tool chest.
Holds screws in position on the tip of the screwdriver with little spring-tensioned arms grabbing onto the screw head. Given a choice, I typically reach for a Screw Starter (video below), but if you have one of these, it can also do the job.

My father had these metal attachments on his screwdrivers. I hated them, I felt it was additional work to align and push the clamps onto each screw. No that I am a lot older, with not so steady hands, I missed these old attachments. Great site, loved your presentation, keep it up.

On modern computers the M.2 screws can be rather difficult to get in the first, second, third, fourth and so on attempts They are just 2 MM diameter at the threads and 3 MM length from the head down. I wonder how many people have these screw drivers for that sort of thing. The only other easy way to hold the screw is to have the screwdriver strongly magnetized or maybe even a weak, temporary adhesive on the tip that is easily dissolved with a solvent when it is not needed any more.

I have one and I wound up destroying them out of frustration. It requires a complete which is more convenient for sales than actual use.

Even the expensive Felo brands are no longer available on Amazon and hard to find otherwise. The EazyPower brand is still around though, kinda' cheap quality but then it won't get that much use anyway. I still have my Stanley from years ago - wish they still made them. I find magnetic screw holding screwdrivers just too weak to survive a slight bump and the screw drops.

They are for JUST STARTING a screw in a hard to reach area. Catch a few threads and use a real screwdriver.

In all fairness to the brand, this doesn't demonstrate proper use.
