I've never needed one of these, but I get it. I was taught to put electrical tape over the flat blade and it makes a wedge to insert a screw.

I’ve rarely needed one in Electrical which is what a lot of them are geared for… I’ve used them in plumbing more often than anything it seems like. Sometimes weird shower valves have a lot of screws to get out to access cartridges or seats.

These are awesome when replacing motor starters in MCC buckets. I'd never used one until yesterday but I immediately ordered them after I did. We have to slim line Square D buckets and they are a PIA to reach down in to restart the screws.

Hey, I have most of the Klein screwdrivers, their multi bit/socket drivers, but I always end up using a Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver. I bought this hung 40 years ago and it works as well now as it did then. It has a magnetic tip, and I can switch the ratchet with my hand while using it. I installed a ceiling fan this weekend and after trying to use the new stuff, I ended up grabbing that out of my bag. Not a big Snap-On fan but I like that screwdriver!

I’ve never really gotten into Snap-On tools just mostly because they haven’t been readily available to me (before the internet) which makes me not think of them. I have seen those on Last Best Tool though and I know he really likes them too. I may have to get and try my first Snap-On tool one day. Appreciate the suggestion 👍

Their stuff tends to be way overpriced. In fact, I think they get over $70 for one of those these days. That’s hardly worth the price.

@@dalecarver7415 yeah, I see their compare prices at Harbor Freight a lot… their tools are up there. But if they work, and for that long… I guess it’s not to bad. I like trying stuff too much to pay for that much longevity 😂

Gotta hand it to Klein. They innovate!! They gave some creative thinkers over there. I have a lot of their designs simple for that reason. They are with my general tools & emergency bags while the Knipex & Wiha are with my electrical stuff. Klein was late to the party with insulated tools. It’s curious since they’ve always serviced the electric trade.

I have moved to almost 100% Knipex on Pliers/Cutters but my Kleins have become my at home tools/spares. I still get their screwdrivers from time to time though, especially their multi-bits.

@@MORGANSMaintenance we are of like mind!! When it comes creative engineering. mind & execution, I m very fond of the Germans. I marvel at the thought & engineering chops that produced things like the Knipex Multicrimp. the Precistrip, the Knipex precision insulation stripper (12 12 13)!! They all work flawlessly. I just pulled the trigger in the knipex 43465 set despite the price. Wiha is ok. Other than their torque screwdriver I don’t buy their stuff bc most is not made in Germany anymore. Guys the Germans are going away. They based their entire industrial model on cheap Russian natural gas & that’s gone. Get the greatest tools on earth before you can’t!!

Believe they are made by quick wedge . They originally had green acetate handles then went over to red acetate. It appears klien making under licence as the mechanism is identical . My green ones I've had nearly 25 years

0:24 @morgn’s maintenance this newer style was released around sept 1st believe, and Klein does have the older style handles still for sale on diff sites (unless old stock, they have reddish resign type handles); this newer “ more modern” looking style is the newest version and know came out I sept, maybe even last week Aug (maybe for some). But now that most ppl see them, sites are listed as back ordered and also think this because still fairly new released item, and might also be the Klein/Lowes new partnership perhaps 🤔. Would say sad to see Klein go from depot, it my depot rarely had any Klein item in stock and what they did have over the years, was sad. Thx for this vid, enjoyed! Cheers👍🏻👍🏻

Interesting and useful feature. Fortunately here we hardly any use slotted screws nowadays. Some older (from 70s and 80s) electrical panels do have slotted screws. If I encounter them, whenever I can I just change the screws to PH or PZ. If one never used slotted on Philips, they have a lot to learn :) Your collection of screwdrivers must resemble those celebrities' shoes collections.

I’m the same with slotted. I never put them back unless I have to… I keep wondering when I will see the last one 😂 It is up there… I do give some away to people I work around from time to time, but I do have a lot.
