Love your super screwdriver video. I think it's a great idea. I ended up buying that setup. Just like you were talking about the problem is in that cap area. Mine broke the first day I had it. I'm not sure what it was that broke, but there was something rattling down in the cavity and the blade/cap wouldn't close or open right anymore. I wasn't even working with it, just opening it a couple times to check it out. Ended up returning it and buying something else.

I have had others comment about different issues with the bit storage areas. My Cap stayed in tact until I started having to pull on it hard because the bit holder became out of round. I think that was my fault with the bits I used, so I’m not 100 % putting that on Klein. It is a great idea to get all the bits, nut drivers, adjustable length… but the handle has to hold up to make that happen. Mine worked great for about 8 months.. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to let me… and others know your issue. Helps people make better decisions.

The Klein super driver is perfect for site surveys and inspection work. I keep multi-purpose tools in the bag with tape measures, distance meters, and my multi meter. A couple Knipex plier wrenches, a Leatherman, and various tape for labeling panels rounds out my survey kit. I learned the Klein super driver trick on your channel. Thanks for the awesome tips!

I like the smooth surface of the PB Swiss for cleaning up, but the connection to the drive shaft is not ideal. I don’t know that I would have the same confidence in the connection. Perhaps that background thought would annoy me while working overhead in the scissor lift.

Oh hell, I've been carrying both those kleins in my tool pouch together. Thanks for tip

For the money and the feel…I agree 100%. Like I said in the video, my bit storage worked great for quite awhile. I can but another 14-1 HVAC to replace the handle, get another shaft… and still be cheaper I bought the PB Swiss to see what all the fuss is about and will give it a shot. If you buy the PB Swiss because you want that screwdriver, then think about adding the flip socket. Don’t buy it for the purpose of making this screwdriver. Cost is too high and it just doesn’t feel right. It will work, but doesn’t feel right. And for all I know the bit storage on the PB Swiss May break in 9 months. The only advantage it has is that I don’t know it’s problems yet.

I have the hvac 14 in 1, and the little plate on the inside that stops the bits from retreating further into the handle has separated from the bit carousel, so the bits can slide down and get stuck in the handle. Unfortunately it seems that handle is not the sturdiest design. I tried the Wera that has the pop open but carousel, and the adjustable length rapidaptor bit holder, but half the time when I pressed the button to get the bits out, one or two would fall out!

That is the screwdriver I actually wanted to try out next but I’ve heard a lot of good… and a lot of kinda bad. The Kinda bad are issues that are very similar to what I have with the Klein, so I don’t think it will be a much better option either. I will probably still try it though 😂

Hey if you’re only using that flip socket bit in your PB Swiss, take a cut off wheel top the ball end and square it off. It’ll fit beautifully snug in the PB Swiss.

@@jonc3768 I have a spare Flip Socket... I may try that and see.. Losing the ball would only affect using it in my impact.

For your needs something like the Wera 818 seems like it would suit you well. You may be able to lock that Klein shaft into it the same way you do with the Klein (don't have the Klein so never tested). The magnetic holder on the PB Swiss does not seem right for that setup, especially since bits sit high in PB Swiss to begin with.

The WERA is the next one I am trying I think. I agree on the The PB Swiss. Can you put the Flip Socket in it, yes… will it work, yes… does it feel right, not really. If the bit storage holds up I do like that better thank the Kleins. It Feels more like a bit case.

@@grumpyuncle. the Laser Tips on their regular screwdrivers are pretty amazing. I personally like the handles, some people don’t. Their handles are ones where the size of your hand probably matters more than other screwdrivers..

I use the Megapro Automotive ratcheting screwdriver and use the railer bit holder to hold the 5 piece 1" milwaukee nut driver bits. I have no complaints. It's about an $80 set up before some specialty bits I've swapped out on the Megapro. It adds up quick. I personally don't think I'd like those nut drivers always on my shaft. Who knows though it might help balance a heavy handled screwdriver with lots of bits in it.

The Klein feels good, the PB Swiss did feel a little awkward. The biggest downside to them all being on there is when you need the 1/4” or screwdriver bit in deep, you have to take all the others off. It’s more of a storage solution that can be carried somewhere for in case stuff for me. You could use it all the time, I don’t though.

I've really liked the megapro ones for ratcheting. But I haven't tried these others. I like it better than the were and Klein non-ratcheting ones

I have had a lot of people recommend that Megapro screwdriver. The PB Swiss screwdrivers are nice but they are a little pricey in my opinion. Not pricey that they might not be worth it (quality and materials), pricey for a screwdriver that I can get another similar product that performs as well for much less. I’m not a big ratcheting screwdriver fan though.. it’s not something I use enough that the switch and action becomes second nature to me. I get why people like them, just not for me. If I were to buy the PB Swiss again, I would get the longer shafts versions.

At work I pocket carry the regular PB Swiss Insider with a Malco 1/4-5/16 flip bit cut down to the minimum shaft needed. The magnet is so strong on the PB I never have an issue with the bit coming off.

That is a good idea and what I may do with mine since I got the Klein working again for now. I’m planning on putting the PB’s solely into work for the next few weeks anyway just to get a feel for them and see if I like them.

@@MORGANSMaintenance I purposely didn’t get the insider pro because I didn’t trust the hinge. The slide on my insider has shown no sign of wear/failure so far and I have a mix of different brand bits in it.

I know you have said you don’t like ratcheting screwdrivers but the megapro ratcheting is one I have tried and was impressed. The bit storage seems better than the Klein. You wouldn’t have the adjustable length shaft but it might be worth looking into.

Like the PB Swiss, A few people have mentioned that to me. Thanks for the suggestion, I will check it out. I think I’ve just never used a ratcheting screwdriver long enough to grow to like it. Half the time when I use one I forget it’s even a ratcheting screwdriver 😂

@@htr5372 it’s not that I dislike them, I just have used non ratcheting screwdrivers forever and 1/2 the time I’m using one I forget it even ratchets.. 😂. I can see for certain tasks they are ideal.

@@htr5372 finding a great one can be hard. I feel like they all have different pros and cons. I love Wiha screwdrivers and love their multi-bit versions they have, but it seems odd they don’t have a ratcheting version. So far the megapro and the newer Klein are my favorites but I plan to get a few more in the coming weeks to test more.

You might want to consider the Wiha with Centrofix. The Centrofix bit holder handles C 6.3 and E 6.3 style bits.

Personally, I use a picquic screwdriver for most jobs. if need be i carry an extra set of bits. Another fun ratcheting screwdriver is the spec tools overdriver pro. It's got a 3:1 plantary gearset to increase speed.

Thanks for the suggestions 👍 I haven’t seen the spec tools, I know WERA has a Turbo that increases the amount of turns you get. I am leaning toward doing the same and carrying the Vessel and a Bit Railer with me in my pocket. Most but holding Screwdrivers are a little bit of a letdown so far, but I like them in my bags just to store bits.

Do the PicQuic bits slide in/out fairly easy? I had a Milwaukee one like that with hex bits… but they were a pain to get out. Kinda turned me off from that type.

The spec tools has been around for probably 15 years or so, and you won't find a smoother ratchet. As for the picquic, they take some force to come out and it doesn't really loosen up over time. They also have a standard multi bit with all your common ones, torx, and metric and sae hex bits as well. I carry them all in my tool bag.

The other thing about the picquic, is the feel in your hands. For some reason I find them very comfortable. You can also push the bits through easily by hand. I think they are the original push through multi bit screwdrivers.

My favorite ratcheting screwdriver is the Williams under $40, it stores bits & is the same manufacturer of the Snap On. I have both screwdrivers there is no difference except color & price.

In general handyman repairs how often do you need a shallow socket or shallow nut driver larger larger than 5/16"? I carry through shaft nut drivers in 7/16 and 1/2 in my bag for toilet bolts. Serious question in terms of carrying them in your "light" fix most things bag, where do you see those larger sizes? Thanks

In screwdriver form not often. My guess is that is why the 14-1 HVAC didn’t come with those bigger sizes. Like you said, in screwdriver applications it’s just not needed that often. The flip socket being able to go in my impact allows me to use the bigger sizes for some things. TV Mounts, Concrete Anchors, some motor mounts, Things like that. 3/8 a little more often in some electrical things. I removed two old and installed two new garage door openers the other day and it used nearly every socket on it (again in my impact for the most part) For general handyman stuff though, not usually. I don’t carry it like this and use it as a screwdriver all the time. It’s more of space storage in my bag. I get a screwdriver, a bit case, and a shallow nut driver set all in one slot. Sometimes I use all of it, sometimes I only use the shaft, sometimes I just get out a bit. It’s also less tools to carry when I don’t want to carry a lot of tools, but also not sure what I’m getting into. In those instances I can use it as a screwdriver.. but sometimes I take just it and my Impact so I have both options. A manual screwdriver, and a powered option for a bigger fastener. I made the first Klein Version because I already had both parts. It has worked so well for me for storage that is why I like it. I just wish the bits holder was holding up a little better. @@MORGANSMaintenance Good answer, going into the unknown. I was just trying to figure out why I might need this. I have 30 ways to remove/install a 3/8" fastener yet no reason to carry them in my go to bag. If I changed jobs or properties that could change.

@@WYOMINGBEN yeah the flip socket shaft is nice to have for the packaging of it space wise. I have multiple tools (really too many 😂) that give me other options to get the job done. The handle that comes with the flip socket (or one like it) is pretty nice to have. Instead of buying a conduit reamer screwdriver, or tapping screwdriver, or any other thing I have in drill attachment form… you can put in those handles. I’ve even put a right angle attachment and used it.

Was a huge german tool fan until I went down the slippery slope of PB Swiss tools.

These are my first and I’m really going to start using them today for a bit to see how I like them. First impressions, they are good screwdrivers but not worth what they cost. They are going to have to really wow me to justify that.

@@htr5372 I wondered how much they are locally where they are made. I mean $120 for a couple screwdrivers is pretty steep. I used the ratcheting one this week installing fire alarm devices and I will say it was pretty nice. The grip is good and the ratcheting switch doesn’t accidentally get swapped easy.

@@htr5372 the 8510R. I agree with you, the grip on it is better than the 6510. I wish I would have bought the ones with the longer shafts now that I have them. I bought the shorter thinking I could put extensions if I needed longer and still have a shorter driver option. The bit holders don’t set deep enough and have too much play. Should have been common sense knowing it takes a 1” bit… but I wasn’t thinking.

I broke my klein bit carousel too. I troed gluing it but it effected the ability to take it in and out just like you said. Then would eventually pull the cap off the top. Then your bits are stuck in the handle and you are waisting time trying to fiddle with it. I wound up 3d printing a new piece inside the handle that holds the same number of bits and an extention.

What happens if you put the original bits back in the screwdriver? Will you still have problems opening it? If not, it is the those other bits that are the issue.; otherwise, it is the screwdriver.

Funny you say that. I messed around with it last night and I have a video uploading now with what I figured out. It’s still a little weird because I had tried switching the bits back before and it didn’t work… and I had also used these same bits for months and it worked fine…. But I’m 99.9% sure it is the bits. I believe it is that I put these bits in specific spots across from each other at some point in time where they made my handle more oval than round. I put regular bits back in, it was still tight but I kept working them back and forth and it is working much better now. Thanks for the suggestion 👍 Now my PB Swiss can just be an expensive screwdriver 😂

Have you tried removing all of your bits from the Klein and see if it sticks when you open and close it? That should tell you if the bits are rubbing and holding it up. Maybe a little Houdini would make it work smoother?

I haven't used the pb swiss. But the Klein 14in one just isn't comfortable. Feels too big to be nimble. I just use the milwaukee 7 in one screwdriver and the Klein 7 in one by themselves. Having Longer bits comes in handy more that you think

@@contax50mm I’m not a big fan of ratcheting but I do like the Vessel Ball grip ratcheting screwdriver. I can change direction with the same hand I’m using the screwdriver with.

I'm curious about pb swiss what is that handle made of? Dose it feel like just plastic?

The Black one I have feels just like plastic. The Red ones feel more like a rubbery textured material. It’s a pretty nice feel. (In my opinion)

That part from 4:06 onward is for wives - moaning about the money and showing how we care. I prefer single-purpose regular screwdrivers. But I understand fully why these multi-bit handles acting as screwdrivers may be useful. Right now I'm a big fan of Wera handles and their proprietary VDE interchangeable shafts. I use screwdrivers practically solely in the electrical works.

Yeah If I’m in normal situations wearing a pouch or my tool bag is right next to me… I’m a single purpose screwdriver too. The shafts are slimmer, less play, and just feel better. I mostly keep this type of screwdriver in my bag as a bit holder, a multi use handle (for the flip socket and multiple other bits) and one to pack into places my bags not going. My wife actually bought me these screwdrivers 😂😂

Price wise you’re talking about something that’s made in Switzerland (with a lifetime warranty) vs. something that’s made in China. If that Klein was still made in the USA it would cost around $60

Yeah, you can tell the quality of the PB is top notch as soon as you hold it in your hand. It's still hard to want to pay $60 + for a screwdriver (for me), but with a Lifetime Warranty it may be worth it. (If the warranty process is easy)

I emailed them with photos and they sent me a response saying they are sending me out a new one for free and I don’t need to send the original back 😃 awesome no questions asked customer service

True, it takes $50 to make it but you are right. You get some extra stuff with that. That other handle comes in handy to use with all sorts of 1/4” attachments. I would not buy the PB Swiss just to make this Screwdriver. For the cost alone I would stick with the Klein and buy me another handle later if I needed too. I only made the original because I already had the two. I bought the PB Swiss to see what all the fuss is about, but With any configuration I would probably look at it as, can a add the flip socket to my existing screwdriver to make it more versatile.

Nope it’s the Klein. I have the ratcheting version. It’s tight as hell. Bugs the crap out of me

Mine was great for quite awhile… then just went bad. I have the ratcheting one too. I rarely use it, so it still works ok at the moment.

Klein is heavy af the pb Swiss is way lighter

Yeah the PB Swiss is a nice screwdriver.. I’m just not a big fan of ratcheting screwdrivers. I’m not against them, I just don’t use them enough for them to be second nature to me. I would have also preferred getting the PB Swiss with the longer shaft after realizing how much play an extension has in it… but “As Is” it’s a good screwdriver 👍👍
