No Drop Tools / Screw Holding Screwdrivers / Ever had a Drop Screw NIGHTMARE!?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My review for the 6" Combo Set of Screw Starting and Removing Screwdrivers. I found these while searching for another tool and thought I would give them a try. I think they are a good tool to keep in your bag for when the need arises.
I show you the tool, how they work, and talk about some ways I would use them. My intent is to hopefully help you see if its a right fit for you before buying.
Hope it is useful and THANKS FOR WATCHING!

Dropping screws (mostly electrical) really tests my patience. I'm going to give these a try - thanks for the heads-up!

Yeah, especially when it creates more work to retrieve them… I’m interested in the Quick Wedge too but I can’t tell how it works from the photo… or what all screws it works with. It’s in my list, one day the price will be worthy of pulling the trigger on it. You are welcome, thanks for watching 👍

Also useful if screws are stainless. Up to now I’ve used the Klein K34 for slotted which works great.

Never knew of that Klein… looks similar to the Quick Wedge but much cheaper. (I think the quick wedge is insulated) Thanks for the suggestion 👍

I inherited a similar tool from an uncle in-law that was old radio repair guy. Im not sure it the brand but it works with a spring loaded twisting type motion to wedge the blade in a slot or philips type drive. I'll have to look see if it has any markings on it. Crazy that two channels I fallow featured a similar odd ball tool with in a similar time. I believe Tom Lipton had one in a Monday Night Meatloaf episode either this week or last.

I saw a review on Amazon for this that a guy commented he had tools like these many years ago and he had been looking for a new set to replace them. I can’t remember what he said the brand was… Tom Lipton… I’ll have to check that out.

My order on Amazon using your link is placed. I'm a big fan of the tools that have a "holding function". I bought Koken Nut-Grip sockets for starting or removing a nut or bolt in a difficult to reach area. Same for the Wiha MagicRing hex keys (the ErgoStar holder they come in is very cool also). Wera makes a nut grip holding socket as well but I haven't bought it or used it yet.

  • @MORGANSMaintenance

I may need to look into those sockets… that could be a handy tool to have too. I don’t mind spending money on situational tools (as long as they don’t break the bank) I thought I said it in the video but didn’t… the only wish I had for these is that they were maybe a little longer… but then I’d probably complain they were to long 😂 They seem to work great… and if it saves me one screw from a shower valve in a wall or a screw down in a dash.. I’ll take it.

I got the Wera holding function hex keys, I was afraid the rings would come off of the Wiha. The Wera’s work like those wera sockets (the 1/2” holding sockets are on my list of things to get). I got their 1/4 and 3/8 socket set kits… that ratchet is freaking awesome.

Like you I have seen the quick wedge screwdrivers but never seen these before. Probably good for deep recessed screws and definitely for stainless screws where the magnetic tips don't work and the bulkier holding screwdrivers just won't fit.

Yeah I actually looked in my garage for a screw for the video and couldn’t find any. I even tried thinking of something I might have to rob one out of because I know a lot of people watch that aren’t in the US. I think it would likely be iffy because the center of them is a little more open, but it wedged in the center and one of the slots… so maybe. Maybe a smaller screw. I will try looking around some more and see if I can find one somewhere. I don’t see them often unless it’s in something I buy that needs to be assembled. Sorry I’m not much help.
