@@anthonymiller7992 A friend of mine was given a barn that size maybe larger. On his days off he took it down and reassembled it on his property.

Potential was that you wouldn't need to apply for Sizemic evaluation or permission to build on that spot. Wished again I had that in our back yard.

@16:00 The movement of the flames across the roof is incredible! The airflow is so powerful the flames are moving downward! Pretty cool watching all the different stages of the fire.

About 5:52 you see it move across the ceiling to the front door and then the whole front goes up and the inside walls follow.

I'm Lost how is it training burning a barn down? Did they try any new firefighting technology or methods?

Looks like the dude on the left was using a thermal imaging camera seeing the source of the fire through the smoke and they had a bunch of guys at the back of the structure looking at the signs of a flashover fire they can't see. These structures are usually rotted out or termite infested, and therefore condemned in the first place.

It's an amazing coincidence that wherever you are on the planet, light a fire and suddenly lots of men will appear to stand watching it.😂

not a waste. if the barn timbers are rotten verses tearing it down how else do you train newbies. old houses 🏠 that are past it control burns practice with the equipment. verses lightning hitting a tree then really setting it off or kids get hurt being kids.

Not trying to be a jerk, but where was the training? Was it on the other building? Was the barning burning declared too unsafe?

The attending departments did some specific training on another abandoned building on property (rescue, ladders, ventilation, etc.) and then burnt this building. Burns like this are mainly used as experience for explorers and other firefighters, as just watching gives experience and knowledge of how fire behaves in different types of buildings, as well as the other training such as the hoses that were being used to wet foliage, and the use of certain tools as the fire burnt itself out at the end.

As others have said; the training is to observe how the fire behaves, how fast it spreads, how the building materials behave under the extreme heat. Even the kind of smoke that is seen matters. If you look at other controlled burns you will understand. It also saves time in the removal of the structure while the staff learns. As to why a building is chosen, it may be the owner agreed to this, but us knowing that does not matter.

It literally says abandoned. Which more than likely means no one owns the buildings, and they just burned to get them out of the way. Beyond stupid to me bit then again I don't live in new Hampshire.
