Very sad. People will come and remove old barnwood for free. Burn the remaining wood after the good wood has been harvested. Those large timbers can be purchased at custom sawmills and they cost a lot of money. Many folks building their homes choose laminated beams when they learn how much single timbers cost.

I feel the same as most of the comments that was a sad thing to see the barn burn. A lot of things could have been done with wood and other things that are in old barns but you had your reasons for the burn. As an old firefighter I must say that was a darn good fire.

Sad history is being burnt. Love old barns, some may not be safe so hence this video
I join many of the other commenters about wasting valuable old wood that sells for a pretty high price. It could have been salvaged and the remaining wood burned.
Why do I find this satisfying 💀
Too bad they didn't salvage the hinges and other iron work. The beams alone would be valuable.
Another part of history gone up in smoke
Old Lumber like that goes for $33 a board I would have paid to tear it down for him
Jim built a big ole barn in the 20's, took great care of it in western Illinois. Jim's grandson sold it to a company in New York for $54.000.00. All Jake had to do was knock it apart and load it on three flat bed trailers. ( Took him two weeks of vacation time)
@eriksimca9409
4 ай бұрын
that doesnt mean every barn ever built is worth money... not everyone has 2 weeks to knock down a barn and to load it all onto flat beds.... and why leave firefighters with just simulated fires to handle and not give them a chance at a real building fire..
Is it wrong that I have become addicted to control burn videos?
Renovate & Update & LIVE in that beautiful ol' barn would have been SOOOOOO NEAT.....☹️
And no one thought of saving this irreplaceable lumber? Sad.
Terribly sad.
So sad to see this old barn burn down there was a fortune in old barn wood.
Where was the barn located
We use to live on an old farm with a dilapidated 100 yr old barn, we'd remove wood from it and make antique furniture and sell it. A LOT of money could have been made off that old barn wood.
@MrMelonsz

That’s pretty cool. Chances are though, that the owners were old and had no interest in money. Nor the energy to make something new out of the barn. And judging by the immediate area, it’s obvious nobody would’ve taken the rights to the barn, even if for free.
That is the best fire I have seen
WHY???
Fireman are always so quick to play with fire !
People love the old barn wood. They could have made good money selling it.
This barn was in pretty good shape. Just needed a new exterior. Should have saved it
I too am sad to see such large nostalgic structures left to fall into disrepair due to it becoming way more expensive than it is worth to restore. Not only that, anyone with out buildings, (including barns), have to pay taxes on the buildings every year. If a barn is not in use, it is not financially beneficial to keep. When you have a huge old barn, they are not built to heat like today's livestock buildings. Most often too big, too drafty, and too cold in winter for the animals comfort. Sigh.......still sad as H. History burnt or bulldozed, or both. Won't be long when the only place you can see old wood barns in Amish country.
If that barn could talk
What a shame, I would have loved to have a barn like that on my property....
What a waste of wood !

That's not been pressure treated, all rough cut lumber far too old for that ....
I hear so many folks verbalizing how this could have been saved or that could have been done. I see the fire department is in on this and I know for a fact that Fire departments use structures like this to give new firemen real training. Plus only the folks involved know how safe or not that structure was to try to attempt to save the lumber. I just am glad the barn burn was done by the firemen and that lots of good training probably was done that day.
Why???
What was wrong with the house That can’t have refurb on it
you could have got up to $75 a board foot for that wood that's fine you could have got $50,000 for all that wood some people just don't know the gold mine they have right in front of them maybe they're Millionaires and they don't care
fire fighters: this is finee
You know you should have saved it just for the wood like barnwood is very sought after
Again, someone did not spend any money on demolishing the house, but spat on the world
So that's what those old time sports broadcasters were talking about........
wenn ich zu fault bin... das abzubauen, und für den Winter kein Brennholz brauche ☝️😋

DOOFUSSES, Reclained wood like this is worth a lot. Amd likely more strurdy/long lasting for interior trim. All my long leaf pine casings and sills were harvested off an old roof in Austin, Texas. Folks who'd come by my guitar-making shop sometimes would ask where I got such nice wood.

What a waste of good useful wood.
it would have been nice to look inside before it burned down
the snow contains the fire
Sad especially because good old seasoned wood (of course only worm-free) is expensive these days. Many people (like me for example) renovate houses with it. Or building additions. I find it a waste if most of the wood was still good. But hey, just my opinion.

This isn’t a “shot” made specifically for you to use Woody. This is someone’s actual building that they owned being demolished. It’s not gonna be movie quality as it is literal raw footage. Your complaints aren’t valid here, as nobody is at “fault” for anything. It’s their video and their barn bro.
