This is one of the best Barbeling videos on YT, very thorough and detailed especially for a beginner. SUBSCRIBED. I’m new to Barbeling (going on 16th for the first time) and would be great to see a video on how to “read” the river and where best to target your bait in the water. Top work 👊👊👊
Great content Danny

Excellent video danny especially for them starting out barbel fishing there is nothing better,this year will be my 35th year fishing the wye valley i first fished the river wye when i was 11years old with my uncle and my elder brother,how them years have passed me buy can't believe how quick it's gone driving from the northwest to the wye valley it's a long journey 1 i do most Fridays stay over in a lovely guest house i have known the family who own the guest house since i was 11 years old i hate Sunday means i have got to return home leave the river wye about 17.00 sunday 18.00 make my way home,But that makes me think how lucky i am to be able to get to the wye valley and fish for these magnificent barbel,Fishing to me is to escape out into the wild and enjoy the adventure,Cheers danny you and all your loved one's stay safe ALIEN

Great video,, missed this one,,, a question do you use braid for barbel,,, i used to love the drennen micro braid or nash silk braid but it dosnt like rocks ,, coated braid striped back also ,, had some good success with fluro carbon but not with longer hook lengths,, its interesting to what others have experienced.
@DannysAnglingBlog
Жыл бұрын
It's not something I have used I have to admit tend to stick to what I know in fleuro carbons tbh matey
Nice video mate, fished the Seven all my life for Barbel. Raised in Shropshire this is my beloved river “Sabrina” I only wish the EA would get off their asses and start doing something about the sewage that is being pumped in by water companies who laugh at fines.
Hi mate. Loving the vids. What reel would you recommend for barbel? I've just jacked in the carp fishing for barbel so completely new to it.
@DannysAnglingBlog
4 жыл бұрын
I would go with a 4000 or 5000 and get one with a bait runner theres no such thing as a one beep from a barbel it's a savage take, they dont call it a 3ft twitch for nothing lol. Size of reel.would depend on rod like with your carping nip into the shop and see how each feels in the rod. If your looking at korum range I use the shadow but the latitudes are also what I will be looking at this year as well. Stay safe mate and hope that helps

@@DannysAnglingBlog I've just brought 2 of the new korum barbel rods very nice action. I feel korum has got better and better in quality over the years so it's all I've been buying this year luggage and terminal wise. On the reels I'm usually a shimano fan with my big pits when I was carping. What are korum reels like? Or should i just get the 6000 shimanno baitrunners? James
Great video, just one question. How often are you refilling the feeder and do you throw groundbait over the top? Now I know it might vary with water flow etc but roughly speaking
@DannysAnglingBlog
3 жыл бұрын
i dont throw ground bait over top but i do feed hemp on the lines i can reach, generally i will be casting every 15 mins at start get some food down and then play it by ear after that
Good video Danny. Isn’t the river season closed until June 16th?
@DannysAnglingBlog

it is mate the footage is from an older session to show how it all comes together
Great video Danny, I’m definitely going to have a go at the Barbel ! Question; what quantities of bait do you use on a all day session, thanks & stay safe.
@DannysAnglingBlog
4 жыл бұрын
Cheers matt, it all depends on the area really if I know barbel are about and I can get in a swim where I can catapult hemp in then I take a couple of pints of hemp as you really can not put too much in especially if fishing middle severn or wye. Pellet wise I normally introduce this on the feeder so sill take a kilo bag and a bag ground bait and rarely use it all to be honest. Finding a swim where you can catty a load of hemp in though is a game changer I have found for getting sessions where you can get multiple barbel.

Dannys Angling Blog Cheers Dan, appreciate the reply, any location on The Wye that’s suitable that you might know ?
I’ve been after Barbel for the past 3 months. I live in Berkshire, have fished stinky, fishy baits either via PVA or even Barbel Groundbait on a feeder, I’ve fished small stretches of the Thames and then just south of white water from Cookham Weir and Penton Hook, still can’t find one... any tips for an area? I’m going to try Hampton Court way, River Wandle.
Great vid, Danny! I have a Sonik 2lb rod that I thought would be good for river Barbelling, Is a 2lb rod over doing it, or will it be OK do you think? Cheers.

I'm planning on picking up some 1.75lb rods and some 2lb ones mate for when rivers up a bit and casting heavier leads. 2lbs be fine just see if you like it mate
Hello Mate Did you use this new Korum barbel rod 1,75 If yes Could you compare it to your twin tip rod? Especially plaing action, and which tip are you using usually 1,5 or 2? Thanks a lot and stay safe Regards Greg
@DannysAnglingBlog
4 жыл бұрын
i only used the twin tip so far mate for barbel and i used the 1.5 tip most of the time. i have now got eh barbel bug so i have put name down for 2 of the new korum xcalibre rods for my barbel fishing next year hopefully will get some aslimited edition so will be able show on vlogs the comparison you ask about as right now i cant answer that part as only used twin tips mate. Danny
Hi mate just wondering what selection of cage feeders to buy (weight and sizes) for my first trip out to the river?
@DannysAnglingBlog
3 жыл бұрын
i normally carry a selection as different swims and conditins require either heavier or lighter,generally i will carry, 60gram, 90 gram,120 gram and 150 gram but if rivers in summer level i leave the last two at home
Hi is this knowle sands section?
Would a 1.5 tc drennan specialist duo rod be ok for small rivers like lea, chelmer etc Many thanks.
@DannysAnglingBlog
3 жыл бұрын
if you look at early vlogs i was using a korum twin tip and i didnt know at time was 1.5tc and had loads barbel on severn so im sure be fine, not rivers i fish but as long as you feel the rid has power to control a barbel then try it, 1.75tc is the standard most go with though
Brilliant video but everyone who makes these films never tells us where they are what river it is or where it is.i don't find it helpful I've fished the Thames from hammersmith to beyond oxford for over 40 years be nice but I've never caught one.fished a lot off the weirs.never seen one caught big chub and big bream but no barbel.so you make this sound so easy and simple it definetly isent I've often put out 2 rods put one on halibut pellets or carp boiles and a bite alarm never had a take or a bite.do you make these videos on behalf of angling and tackle suppliers to promote there products.my experiance says river fish won't take these baits you never get any bites or takes sweet corn works but that's about all.rivers work well with simple live baits like worms and maggots.be nice to know where this is.????? Iv never in my life just thrown a line in with a pellet and caught a barbel just done work that way.
