I, too, have not watched an award show in over 20 years. They are created for no other reason than to pat the backs of people who are already more then adequately compensated by way of outrageous remuneration, royalties, merchandise, free this and that, sponsorships, etc., etc.

Used to watch the award shows but now that the Markles have shown up their true spirit of greed and manipulation, I don’t bother with them at all. So fake and phoney.

As much of a laughingstock as Meghan Narkle 😂

The American awards shows are just a showcase for celebrities to stroke each other’s egos and spout their self-important opinions

I can’t bear to watch Lorraine’s show she oozes insincerity it’s nauseating.

Isn’t it time we stopped watching actors giving one another awards?. It’s their job, it’s what they’ve been paid a fortune to do. Just take your cheque, and move on.

Not a fan of Lorraine Kelly. She seems to change her views about Harry and Meghan depending on what’s popular at the time. Not exactly a person who stands by their convictions. Seems to be as superficial as Meghan.

In the book by Henry Adams, "The Education of Henry Adams", he wrote a great deal about his time in London when he was his father's, Charles Francis Adams, secretary. Awards pander to one's outer values. Not sure awards mean much. It's often better to move through life 'incognito', helping others along the way, whether anyone else notices or not.

Those awards worldwide have been busy to deconstruct themselves. If you look at the audience numbers for broadcasted award shows, you will see how valuable those awards are in the eyes of the audience. I guess they could save a lot of money by not giving awards at all. Giving and getting an award is like a club meeting: everybody knows everybody else and they all say "well done" and clap themselves on each other's shoulders. I'll give them a pass.

Thanks Neil for the behind the scenes info on Hollywood. Growing up I was always surprised that my friends were fans of every celebrity going. I never was and saw them for the ordinary and less than ordinary people that they were. The numbers watching these award shows are dwindling at long last.

Well, I seem to be rather old fashion I guess. I remember when people were awarded for contributions to society (in a good way!) or for bravery, or for great literature writing etc. Now its who g can get the most award bangs for their bucks! I'm sure Mr. Musk or Mr. Gates could fill a very large room with awards, plagues or trophies if it suited them. It's such a sad little world these award "winners" live in!😞

After having read many comments, I realise how naive we, I include myself always, are!!! From day 1 Hollywood was about making money. Years ago there were fewer actors, fewer films so the quality of acting skills was undeniably noticed. However, time and time again, awards were given and the public did NOT agree.Charlie Chaplin had to race to film his work.The periods of 'anti-this and that,' were biased to say the least. Awards given to MM for the most part, are just publicity stunts that most people had never even heard of.

I’m thankful that we now have all the free view channels as well as Sky, Netflix and others so we are not limited to the dross that BBC ,ITV, and Channel 4 and 5 put out. Loved anything regarding Queen Victoria. Award showsare money & ego driven.

All award shows should be in private settings. So they can all enjoy their egos, without audience suffering through that. They do deserve an award of merit. But don’t televise anymore except for highlights. With what’s going on in the world awards are last thing people think about. They are nice for recognition. But not the Nobel peace Prize!
