For how long can the eggs be out of the incubator? When in the wild, they are covered by momma snake all the time, right? Kinda like the chickens do im guessing

Depends on the snake actually,most snakes don't care about their children at all and oftentimes leave. Some do stick around long enough to incubate the babies. They can stay out a short while but my assumption is it's best to not leave them out too long. Especially if your home is extremely cold lol.

I think you need to sanitize your incubator and change your substrate. Maybe that's causing the eggs to go bad?

nothing really "causes" eggs to go bad unless you're really doing something wrong, this setup looks fine so i doubt it's anything he's doing. like with all things in nature sometimes the eggs just don't thrive and they either don't hatch or they come out deformed/FTT and have zero quality of life. When you have a clutch of snake eggs you're almost guaranteed going to have a few that never develop and go bad

it looks like since only the top one went bad, it could have not had enough heat or moisture from not having contact with the substrate.

Some snake eggs just do that. Probably to keep them in the same position they were when laid. If they're touching when mama snake pops em out, they're gonna stick

If one of the eggs is not connected to the others, it may roll over and the baby will die. They need to stay in the same position they were laid in for safe incubation

Dude, if you need help conclusions ask forceful, you can put the eggs, you don't have to use that thing that they're on and just take that off and they can be out whatever it's under them and you just have to make like dancing, whatever it is, I forgot what it's called though I know what ityes and you can keep it. He shows the embryo in this short briefly. It's part of that solid greenish stuff inside the egg. It wasn't a fully formed snake yet, but you can see the beginnings of it.

He didn't choose the placement of the eggs. It was the way that the mother snake laid them and once snake eggs are stuck then they are stuck.
