As it happens, I was at all three of these concerts. Like all Babymetal solo shows, which they call "one man shows" in Japan, these concerts were two days events held on a weekend. On most occasions when they do these shows, the two nights have different names and they perform different setlists, although sometimes they will just perform the same setlist twice. Ratatata was filmed at FOX_FEST, which was the most recent event held at Saitama Super Arena (which is in northern Tokyo), on the 25th and 26th of May 2024. From what I heard, the crowd for each day was about 20,000, which is not quite a full house for that venue, but they never give an actual crowd figure for these shows anyway. FOX_FEST was a mini festival that Babymetal hosted, with guests Metalverse (they are Babymetal's little sister group), Bilmuri, Polyphia, and Electric Callboy. Yes, the entire crowd of 20,000 people started going "Fu! Fu!" as soon as the intro started and it was awesome. The energy in the arena was crazy for both of Electric Callboy's and Babymetal's sets. I had no idea that EC was to popular in Japan, but the crowd was right into them. Although this video has had some video effects added to it, it does a really good job of showing how hyped the crowd was, and the mosh pit was the craziest one that I have been in in Japan. Road of Resistance was at "Babymetal Begins - The Other One: Black Night & Clear Night" (long name), which was held at PIA Arena MM in Yokohama on April 1st and 2nd 2023. This performance was filmed on Clear Night (2nd April). RoR is normally played as the finale of the main set before the encore, but on this occasion it was the second song of the night. This show was the official rebirth of Babymetal and beginning of the new Babymetal story arc; Kobametal (Babymetal's producer) has called it Babymetal Season 2. Black Night was Momoko's last show as Avenger, then at the end of the show, it was announced that she would be the new member of Babymetal and be called Momometal, as well as revealing the new stage outfits, and the new band logo. Clear Night, the following evening was her first show as a full member of the group with a microphone. Needless to say it was a historic occasion, as Babymetal fans had been waiting more than five years for Babymetal to be a trio again. This show also featured the world live premiere of five songs from the "The Other One" album (Believing, Maya, Metalizm, Mirror Mirror, Time Wave). The crowds for Japan shows are broken up into blocks for several reasons. First, because there are two categories of tickets; the ones in the front blocks are called "Cho Mosh'sh Pit" (Super Mosh Pit) which are for official fan club members only, and the rest are "Mosh'sh Pit" which are for everyone else, so there is a need to keep the crowd in their designated areas that they paid for. Second, they divide the crowd into sections in order to bring them into the arena in an orderly manner. The big arenas in Japan are often in built up areas with not a lot of space around for large crowds to gather, so they divide the crowd up into sections and enter them into the arena a few groups at a time, filling from the front to the back and through multiple entrances at the same time. The PIA Arena show was actually one of the smaller venues they have played for a while, as it only holds 12,000 people, which made getting a ticket for it very difficult. Apparently the other bigger venue in Yokohama that they normally use, Yokohama Arena, was booked for another event that weekend, so they had to use PIA instead. The crowd blocks at PIA were actually kind of shit because they were so small that it was hard to get a decent circle pit going in a lot of them; it was like trying to mosh in a phone booth! And yes, there is always a small army of staff on hand, although there is not a lot of security needed because Japanese crowds are very well behaved (and they put all the foreigners in one area where they can keep any eye on them). The Kami Band for this performance was the Kami Band of the West (American Kami Band), so the guitarist with the sparkly purple guitar is Chris Kelly, and the other guitarist is CJ Masciantonio, the bass player is Clint Tustin, and the drummer is Anthony Barone. These guys have been Babymetal's live band on and off since 2019; they swap out sometimes for the Japanese Kami Band of the East, but the West Kami have been the only ones playing with Babymetal for the last 18 months. Legend MM - was held at Yokohama Arena on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2024 to celebrate Momometal's 21st birthday (her birthday was March 3rd). The crowd for this show was around 17,000 from what I know. It is Babymetal tradition that when one of the girls has a major birthday, a special concert is held in their honor, and they perform the song Headbanger (which is a coming of age story). Su-metal sang it at "Legend S" in her home town of Hiroshima for her 20th birthday in 2017, and Moametal sang it at her birthday show "Legend M" in 2019. When someone other Su sings it, the song is given the name "-banger", so "Momobanger" is the name given to Momoko's version of the song, and "Moabanger" is the Moa version. Many years ago, there was also a "Yuibanger" performed when they were on tour in France, but there is no high quality video of the performance, just some fancams. Unfortunately this fan made video isn't very good, because it has a lot of old footage spliced into it to fool the content ID system, but it's the best there is at the moment, as the Bluray of Legend MM hasn't been released yet, so the fan editors are just working off the video from the WowoW stream that was shown a couple of months ago. Hopefully once it releases, someone will be able to make a better version. The chant being repeated over and over again is "Hedoban" ヘドバン, which is the Japanese version of "headbang", so the chant is "Headbang! Headbang! Headbang!" I don't think any of us in the crowd were quite ready for Momo's rendition of Headbanger. The contrast between her growls and her cute clean vocals was wild and everyone was blown away by her performance. Because Momo has only been an official member of Babymetal since April 2nd 2023, she's only done official vocals on three songs (Metali!, Leave It All Behind, and Ratatata), but she has growled on two out of three of them. In the most recent interview they did, they talked about Momo's growls and how they plan to feature them more as part of their songs going forward and called them Babymetal's new weapon.

12:54 - That's what I love about BM and many other Japanese metal artists, is their positive energy. Bands like Hanabie, Nemophila, Maximum The Hormone, etc ... they all can go as hard as anyone in the genre, energize crowds to crazy levels, and it's all without that doom and gloom that many western artists seem to be stuck in, at least lyrically speaking. Of course, Germany's Electric Callboy is a great example of this too.

Well, I just came across your channel today and followed your BM reactions. Subscribed. Happy Birthday! Getting excited for the Oni Queen Momometal! Being a professional idol group deep in the metal industry and them being managed by a hard core metalhead like Koba, you KNOW she is being professionally trained by someone good! Also she is a good actor who knows how to “get into it” much like Alex Terrible. Not saying she will be at that level but acting goes a long way to enhancing such vocals.

Great treble reaction. PIA MM Arena is in Yokohama and is actually one of the smaller arenas they've played lately (capacity somewhere between 10k and 15k), but it was chosen for the two specific concerts they played for several reasons. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. Herman Li and Sam Totman from the British power/speed metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. The Kami Band of the West were the musicians shredding - and yes they have been touring and supporting BABYMETAL since 2019 for foreign tours and for all concerts since April 2023 ... they are Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio on guitars, Clint Tustin (and since this concert when he is not available Ryan Neff) on bass, Anthony Barone on drums. 'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday - 15 is a significant age in Japan so it is a growing up thing too. 20 is the age of majority in Japan so they change the lyrics slightly to "I will never forget this special night of my 20th. in 2014 on or near their own 15th birthdays Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' when Su handed them the mic and stand. The same thing happened at Legend M in 2019 - Moa's 20th birthday. Legend MM were the concerts in march this year at Yokohama Arena celebrating Momometal's 21st birthday. Night of 20 was the last day before her 21st, so she got to take lead for 'Headbanger' ... this is 'MomoBanger' of course. This was compilation using clips from other concerts spliced in with the MomoBanger clips to avoid copyright ... I find it very disturbing to see Su-metal apparently singing with Momometal's voice.😜 Night of 21 was on her birthday - she took lead for the start of the song 'Metal Taro' ... so fans called it 'Momo Taro'.

Great triple reaction, thanks! Well, you already have several walls of text. So I'm just leaving a few words about each song and performance: - "RATATATA" is (apparently) madness live. So I can't wait to experience it myself (in 4 days!). - "Road of Resistance" is their usual show closer, although here it was the first song after the show opener. About the blocks on GA, every GA ticket gets a block (section) and a number (for the line). So, the queues and the entrance of the attendees to the arena are perfectly organized. - "Headbanger" is one of their earliest hits, from 2012. Suzuka was only 14yo when she performed it for the first time and the song became one of their most loved and also part of birthday related celebrations, like in this case. The compilation (awful mashup, actually) doesn't do justice to the actual performance... I know it well because I was there. 🤘🦊

Yes, PIA Arena is a recently built music venue in Yokohama, Japan, capacity is just over 12000. Headbanger is normally just performed by the main singer SU-metal, but on a few occassions on the other girls birthdays they swap it up and let the birthdaygirl take over, hence Momo's version becomes "Momo-banger". :D The edit on the specifik video you found seems a bit strange, since it swaps whos singing back and forth in the video, i'm guessing to avoid copyright. xD

Hell yeah! These were all amazing performances. Babymetal said in a recent interview that Momo’s growls are their new “weapon”, and it’s her responsibility moving forward. We’ll definitely see more in my opinion! On the musicians: You’re seeing Kami Band West with Babymetal. They were added in 2019 in addition to Babymetal’s Japanese band, Kami Band East to assist with increased touring. Since Apr 2023, they took over as sole backing band. *From left to right:* _Chris Kelly_ - Guitar _Clint Tustin_ - Bass _Anthony Barone_ - Drums _CJ Masciantonio_ - Guitar. ** Chris, CJ, and Clint were all members of the Star Wars themed band called Galactic Empires. Anthony was ex-Shadow of Intent. Clint is currently also in ERRA, and Ryan Neff replaces him a number of times on tour. Also, if you plan to get tickets, do them fast!! More than half of those cities on that Nov Tour List in your background is already sold out. They even added a 3rd show in CA, and a 2nd show in NY. For another heavy song, check out *Rondo of Nightmare (Budokan 2014).* this is when Su was 16, and you’ll see Kami East showcased here. 🤘🦊

👍 👍 The band in the ROR performance (great choice for this particular performance as all PIA ARENA performances are superb) is The West Kami Band (world class musicians that tour with them all over the world). They joined the East Kami Band (world class musicians from Japan who were the first and for a while only Tour Band starting in 2012 as BABYMETAL became a worldwide phenomenon they added the West Kami Band so that each group could continue with their own projects because of schedule conflicts). Both bands adore and respect the girls.

Just a bit of info since I'm not 100% sure that if you know this or not. But the song "momobanger" isn't actually called momobanger but Headbanger. The reason why fans call this particular performance you watched Momobanger is because it's a special performance where Momo get's the mic from Su and get's to sing lead for half of the song. But like 99,99% of the times you'll hear this song in a concert it will be Su singing it whole way through. There is also version from 2019 where Moa get's the mic from Su and that's called "Moabanger" by the fans:D. In my honest opinion you should have reacted to the "normal" headbanger first so you would have more of a appreciation why this performance from Momo was so special. But ofcourse fans in the comments want the new shiny toy first so I guess that's why you got recommended this version first. But thought I should give this info since I'm pretty sure you didn't call the song Headbanger even once so I was wondering if you actually thought the song is called momobanger instead. Anyway I really enjoy your reactions and I'm looking forward for more babymetal to come!

Sadly the 'Momobanger' performance video has been cut to add an other performance, a compilation if you will, to get past the copyright issues. This is a Blu-ray they are actively selling. Released last year.

This MOMOBANGER video is a compilation and is a bit confusing BUT it's done that way to keep it from getting taken down or blocked. The full MOMOBANGER, even the fancams, are getting taken down since it's a recent concert and the DVD/Blu-ray for the 2 day event (Legend MM 20 Night & 21 Night) will be on sale in July.🤘🦊🤘

I don't know why everyone is making a big deal about Momo screaming. Women can do that. Yukina of Hanabie does it way better. Lot of all female Japanese bands that have harsh vocals. Mayu of Nemophila can do both. Broken by the Scream has two screamers and two singers.

Good point tbh. But it's probably because before she joined, Babymetal used session screamers on studio recordings that weren't even credited if I'm not mistaken, then live, they'd just play the backtrack of the screams and call it a day. So now they officially have an official screaming member, which can open the door for more possibilities with live performances and studio recording. And because imo, Babymetal's marketing is built around teasing fans with something they want, carrot on stick style, then finally giving it to them but in little doeses to keep them wanting more and sticking around. This is the situation with the whole 3rd member thing after Yui left, and not only do we get a new 3rd member, it's a 3rd member that can scream, adding something new to the group.

Whoever edited this Headbanger (Momobanger) video did a really shitty job, it's really poorly done and does a disservice to the actual performance by Momoko

"Resistance" was a kind of key word for their early days, because in Japan metal music had been (or still is) very obscure compared to Europe. Hipsters have been saying since the mid-1980s that metal is cheesy, lousy, silly, corny and dumb. These girls are resisting against them in the name of metal.

Not your fault but that Headbanger version with Momo was one of the absolute worst compilations I have seen. Showing Su singing when Momo was etc…. As for other Japanese bands the big 3 has been Nemophila, Lovebites and Band Maid (hard rock not metal but kicks ass) and you need to add the quickest rising which is Hanabie who is currently tearing up European festivals right now.

I don't like this video. is a compilation of several shows to circumvent KZread strikes. The original video is much better
