Days worth of gathering articles, images and footage, organizing all the names and dates correctly, and then writing a script. The mind numbing hours of editing, editing, editing.. and finally presenting it in a way that makes perfect sense to your audience! Why was the house burned down? And who inherited the property? I assume his 3 sons (Ahab died suddenly before the murder). Wonder what happened to them. And their mother left them to be raised by an odd, unstable man. I hope they turned out okay. Edit: I read that Chris Osborn, a grandson inherited the land. If Scudder had 4 sons, why does the grandson have a different last name?

One of my favorite parts about your channel is the intros. You paint this really disturbing sad picture without context and it really creates an emotional punch. I can see the scene and feel the terror and pain of the victim(s). Personally I think it’s one of those things that really puts people into the story, so relating to the story becomes more natural. I guess I am trying to say it helps encourage feelings of empathy towards the people who had to suffer such horror. Every time I watch any true crime videos, I pray for the souls lost to violence like that. I don’t know if it actually does anything for them, but I really hope so. And I truly hope whatever, if anything, comes after this, is more fair and just. 😔🙏

I went to music school with a harp player/classical guitarist. I majored in music and minored in English, so this episode moved me in a certain way. On top of that, I adore dogs. A couple of forward-thinking people who were ahead of their time (and loved each other) were destroyed by two Monsters who had been showed generosity by those very same people. An especially sad tale, but you told it brilliantly as always.

SO true! I rode my bike past a slightly elevated shack just off the street a few Summers ago.An elderly 84 year old man had fallen off that porch and was laying in the very tall weeds between. He was 84 years old,and by the time I'd ridden pastor was 3 pm and he'd been laying there ,virtually unable to be seen since that morning. This was a street that didn't get much traffic and no one in a car could have seen him driving by anyways. My first thought that my mind rationalized it as that it was a mannequin as I went by .But once I realized that the odds were slim that a mannequin would be laying there in the high weeds and turned around ,he was probably near to sunstroke. This was July in W.Tx where it gets to be 102° regularly.I talked to h and told him I was going for help ,but for the 3 or 4 houses with TV's on..I got no answer to my knocks. Finally I came across some people getting out of their car and they called 911.I went back and waited with him until paramedics came to take him to the hospital. It was just sheer luck that I decided to ride down that back street home, since I just decided to at the last minute for a change.I still think about Ezra, and hoped he was okay. But I think your mind will fill in the blanks to things you see that make no real logic at all ,that's why your brain tries to rationalize such odd things and tried to give your consciousness the closest explanation.
Great story. So much detail worked into this complex tale. Excellently done!
Your extreme detail is what puts you all head and shoulders above most other true crime series. I find it gives me a complete understanding of the cases, and I thank you!
As my little brother says. You can't be stupid for free. This just goes to show that what he says is true. These guys were stupid to think that they could do this as you said. But now they are in prison for the rest of their lives. You can't be stupid for free that is a good quote for sure. Awesome as always my friend keep on keepin on.

I rememebr reading about this particular instance years ago and ive been so fascinated by it. thank you for covering this!
I live in Chattanooga and in high school we would drive to Trion at Halloween time and go to corpse wood! Scary as shit there 😂. The rumor has always been that the dogs haunt the property and you’ll hear them barking and sounds like they are coming towards you. Never heard it myself but that’s the whole spook to get people to go there.
god i love this channel im constantly learning new things
This story was just too sad 😢 They were two cool unusual guys who had made a happy life complete with chicken house/sex/party room! 😁 I love that Scudder was a scientist, musician and into philosophy and tarot (I am a professional harp player and tarot reader so I couldn’t help but resonate with his interests there!) It’s just too sad that such evil greedy people exist, definitely brought a tear to my eye on this story 😥💔

Truly. They sounded like cool people born in an era that either couldn’t or wouldn’t try to understand or accept them.
@Tsumami__

They weren’t that unusual, it was the typical wealthy bisexual man that had his fun and built his family with a woman and then found a simple minded younger man to keep as a borderline pet in his middle age. That’s not unusual. It’s sad they got murdered the way they did, but it’s also bizarre how people paint a murder victim(s) as angels and saints.
Thank you for the extra detail and explanation of the Satanic Temple/Church stuff, that was thoughtful and informative.
Thanks for all the hard work Giles ❤️

Listening to the harp and poem reading reminded me of Vincent Price.

I love all the details you provide, which almost makes us feel like we are right there. Like a fly on the wall in each tragic event. I have never yelled at my phone so much.."Get out, run, or why don't they tell someone..lol some time worse.. Every video I watch it makes me more aware of my surroundings and behavior of others.
"No. It's never a mannequin.." 😆

Thank you for bringing up the absurdity of people thinking something is a mannequin!!! Like you said, it's NEVER a mannequin-EVER!! I have never seen a mannequin except in a store or behind a store in the dumpster. Perhaps the idea of finding a body is so horrible to one's psyche so self-protection makes one want to believe its a mannequin. Our psyche's do protect us from horror as much as it can.
Love this channel!
Wonder if anyone has mentioned the painting Dr Scudder had commissioned that wound up being eerily prophetic of his horrendous future

Good late night everyone. Trying to fall asleep relistening to a mix of monsters and up pops a new episode
Now this is a story I've never heard before. Fascinating, interesting and completely diabolical. You're one of the few criminal documentarians who can wholeheartedly maintain my interest for the entirety of the video. Yes, these are Monsters!
That is so sad that they killed those people for nothing
HAHAHA "It's never a mannequin". Like Macys dumps their old & broken mannequins in remote fields and random woods throughout North America.
Hooray! It always makes insomnia night better when there’s a Monsters upload 🤩
Love your work

I Googled the ruins. I'm sure that place is extremely haunted. I would not venture there and definitely would not take any souvenirs if I was a ruin crawler.
This was interesting and well made.

“It’s never a mannequin” Except that one time it was. My grandpa found it, no arms or legs, we use her as a Halloween decoration every year.
Very interesting case. Great job on this!
Maybe not so related to the video, but I always see on these videos how people on those years (50s,60s,70s,80s) had pretty lowly jobs for today standards, yet they could easily acquire real estate and other assets and still maintain their families with a single income. Something we can only dream of today, unless you have a flawless career and know the right people. I Guess times just keep changing. Nevertheless, excellent video as always, this channel is amazing!
