Yes but kept where? We don't have space for all of the current criminals - even with many of those being guilty of minor crimes and being released after only short sentences, most prisons are overcrowded. And not by a little but by a large amount. I don't like letting them out to run around any more than anyone else does but there's literally no place for them. And if I'm paying more taxes, I'd prefer that money go towards things like education and department of child/family services and places that are sorely lacking.

Like most people who had bad childhood. We just try as hard as we can to do better. My parents weren't abusive but I stopped going to school at 10, because I started to work at 11 to help my parents. We barely could afford a 1 room appartement and we weren't eating each days. I returned to school at 19, got my high-school diploma and got a mechanic diploma few years after, worked overtime to go to college and university and completed a degree in aerospace engineering at 28. I'm 50. My daughters never lacked anything. It's hard to break the circle but it definitely worth it.

His early behaviors of violence point towards child abuse by trusted adults. I grew up with a couple of aunts & uncle who did these sexual assaults to me, my baby brother and 2 male cousins. I can’t remember how old I was whenever it started because I believe it was going on since beginning of life, because I cried when they were doing it to my 2 year younger baby brother still in diapers. My brother seems to have to memory of it, but both my male cousins remember it and both have been incarcerated for mostly drug related charges their entire adulthood oldest 55 years old.

One of the very few I’ve found able to give a broad enough overview to fluidly follow the series of events from start to finish, while still detailed enough to tell the stories of those involved and leave viewers feeling informed and invested. Maybe a strange comment to make, but I appreciate it so much after finding that so many other channels miss the mark and either offer 3 minute Cliffs Notes videos or a full case report read through line-by-line with 25 minutes of police interview clips. If you have a family member with mental illness you are on your own, even if he/she is a danger to themselves or others there is nothing you can do except MAYBE have them put on a psychiatric hold for 3 days which does nothing. We use to have long term psychiatric facilities, which were closed down in the 60’s because of the deplorable conditions of some, abuse, neglect and people who shouldn’t have been there being sent there, instead of making changes to improve the system, they closed almost all of them down releasing 500,000 patients to families who couldnt handle them, leading to a massive increase in homelessness and increase in random acts of violence. How many more people need to die before we have some type of long term treatment.

Omg so the video in the courtroom where the victims speak is so disturbing. The woman who fought him off and hit him in the nose is riveting. Then when the victim says “oh one more thing, hows your nose?” he shows exactly who he is. His expression is nothing short of evil and it’s terrifying because you know that’s the last face Amber and Chelsea saw. He is a sociopathic predator not a human being with a soul.

True, she moved out immediately when she saw extreme abuse -- and then she went back. What does someone have to do to lose their parent card? Because the abuse continued. That said, John Jr. also had a serious mental illness, which can't be cured by sunshine, smiles, cutting out food dyes, Jesus, etc.

Considering his father’s anger issues personality and the incredibly early onset of disturbing and disruptive behaviour in John it seems like there’s an extremely strong likelihood of multi- generational dysfunction due to both genetic factors and learned abuse patterns. It’s truly a challenging situation when you hear of very young children who display quite obvious violent, antisocial and mentally unstable tendencies that remain unresponsive to treatment and medication. While I don’t think you can label a child as being “born evil” there are definitely some who seem to be simply wired such that they remain completely indifferent and unaffected by any of the standard influences of social norms/expectations. This detached absence of the ability to feel any type of empathy is horrifying due to a lack of any cure.

I have to disagree. I do consider John a victim, but he's a monster as well. I don't think there needs to be a delineation between the two to make his imprisonment more palatable. He was very clearly a victim of his father's actions, as well as enabling from the people around him. That said, at some point in adulthood you have to take responsibility for who you become and while I'm not sure he was capable of doing that, he definitely understood right and wrong well enough to hide his crimes. I don't wish him any better experience but I certainly wish his father ill for his part in creating this monster.

Make sure you have a 3-6 month public meeting period and ALWAYS drop your location to someone who knows who you’re with.

Lol, people are hooking up on first meets. There’s no dating anymore. Very sad everyone’s in a hurry and they don’t take care of their bodies just passing it around.

SA needs to be tried as attempted murder of the soul. It's very tragic the victims have to live with this forever. He got a couple years everytime ruining everyone's else's lives.

I had a very disturbing childhood, not for the same reasons than this guy (my father was a great man and ended up on disability and was drinking heavily so instead of being violent, he moved out and fixed his issues and came back) we were poor but not USA poor, dirt poor, I started working at 11 years old but never killed /assaulted anyone. Bad childhood is never an excuse.

As always thank you for telling the story! I often wonder why the victims are always those beautiful souls, people with so much potential.....not the scumbags......life here on earth is always so precious, though often so unfair. So sad.

I used to run in High School. You don't take anything worth robbing someone over. Maybe now ear buds and exercise tracking devices are worth something, but you don't usually wear valuable jewelry other than maybe engagement rings. Phones aren't that valuable, you don't take your cards. If a guy attacks you on a jog, he's after you, not your belongings. Cops are really stupid sometimes.
