    Kang was great in Loki but in Ant Man 3 he sort of became a victim of the movie's comedy. In Guardians of the Galaxy, that comedy worked because Star Lord went up against Ronan, a throwaway villain, and not Thanos, so by the end of the movie, Star Lord won but Thanos didn't get humiliated.

    The writers have made kang a non entity with no clear motivation,the most simplistic thing to do would be to ground the character and make him want to bring back his version of renslayer as she was killed by alioth,and in turn remove all other variants to stabilise it all,the avengers just happen to get in the way and due to endgame complicated his plans,fit doom in the background providing tech to kang and you have a pretty basic story.

  • @bajansamurai

    @bajansamurai

    2 ай бұрын

    Maybe. They didn't really show any big believable love between them that makes that motivation pop, but then again, so as not to confuse non-Loki series watchers (and sense they're all different Kangs) I guess they can establish that love and loss trope for the ultimate Kang first. I'd actually flip the Doom element and have him pretending to support him with the time Tech, only to reveal himself an even bigger bad who usurped the technology to juice himself up on multiversal energy. Skip forward to some merged parts of multiple Earths as a Battleworld in the next movie (A6: Secret Wars).

  • @bleedinggreen5748
    @bleedinggreen57482 ай бұрын

    I think there is a very good reason they haven't gone into Kang's motivation. It maybe it's the best storytelling but the reason for what he is doing isn't to be revealed yet. That's because...he's not the bad guy. This is just a theory but hear me out. The Kang from Quantumania was exiled by the other Kangs because they saw he was a threat. And he said "if you want to stop them and believe me, you do",Ant-Man should have worked with him. His methods are not great,he uses terrorism to achieve his means. But I see Kang's motive to be similar to He Who Remains, kill any possibility of other variants because they will be worse. They will be more dangerous. I feel that when the Council of Kangs are going to war with each other and weakening each other (because every Kang believes they should be in charge) then the Quantumania Kang returns (obviously a different actor) and he actually wants to help the Avengers turn the tables on the other Kangs,get the advantage so he can prune them out of existence and stop the multiversal war before it starts. But there will be one character who is not willing to trust him,one character who thinks he knows better than everyone else what to do with great power. And that character steps up and seizes it and HE becomes the God Emperor character and creates BattleWorld. And I know what you're thinking, you're thinking "Doctor Doom ". Because this was Doom's role in the 2015 Secret Wars comic. But I'm not. I'm suggesting the person that does an end run around all the Kangs and installs himself as a despot for the greater good....will be Doctor Strange. I honestly think this is a direction they could go. It would be exciting and different and still resonate with what his character has been about.

    They have failed with Kang thus far because they've been afraid to ever have the hero's lose. Now that we've seen Kang die already so many times to what are pretty much side characters, to re-establish him as a threat - MCU should start Avengers 5 off with a bang, kill off multiple hero characters within the first act.

Secondly that’s one variant of Kang. I know He Who Remains was killed by Sylvie too but that was an option he gave her. It was either take over the TVA or kill him. Thirdly because there are multiple variants they can change the presentation of the character. This is the one character who they course correct all the mistakes they’ve made to turn people off. @fandomcentralmedia8658 Personally, for me, it's not that he was defeated by Ant-man that is embarrassing, I don't even mean in canon/story. I mean that watching him lose so early in the next phase and how he did. It felt more like a common villain and not THE next MCU villain. Just because there are infinite numbers of him, it doesn't make him any more threatening than one Thanos, or one Galactus, or one Dr. Doom. If anything, the more they use him and the more the loses or the heroes win over him, the less effective he will be in an endgame-like avengers movie. I'm sorry, but he is not scary, nor feels menacing or threatening. Again, and sorry if you feel like it's offensive to Ant-man, but we already saw our MCU BBeG be defeated by Ant-man. How am I supposed to believe he will be such a threat that it will cause the new avengers to come together on a universal scale to stop him? I don't think that they can't do it, but I doubt that they will succeed with Kang, at least with how they are currently doing it.

And again I still think that Marvel can present how dangerous he is as a threat if they are willing to take a chance on him. I still think there’s room to show how scary he can be. I’m just frustrated and disappointed in them as creatives for playing on the safe side. I know some reports say that Marvel was considering removing him before Majors’ legal problems cause of the box office of Ant Man 3. I personally don’t believe that, I think if Johnathan Majors’ issues didn’t happen we’d still be on track to Kang Dynasty. I didn't care about Thanos at all until Infinity War. That movie made me care about Thanos, and retroactively made the entire Infinity Saga feel a lot more worthwhile. I'm willing to accept that Avengers 5 COULD do that with Kang, but I feel like it's facing a steeper uphill battle this time, because I at least was just ambivalent about Thanos and just didn't know to expect that they would flesh him out as a character so well in Infinity War. This time, Kang and the entire post-Endgame saga now, is actually making me feel like I legit don't really like where they're going with this whole Kang and multiverse approach. They might prove me wrong. If it's a great movie, they could totally make me care about Kang and make Phase 4 feel more worth it, etc... I just don't have a good feeling about it. It could be good, but probably won't ever reach the heights of the Infinity Saga. I don't think you can do that twice, especially not one right after the other. John's right that the cameos all feel like obvious fan service in a very oversaturated kind of way now. Infinity War and Endgame, it was fan service, but it felt earned and rather unique in how big an ensemble of beloved characters was coming together and all that. I don't think they have that again this time. It's not even as good an ensemble as it was in Phase 1 with the first Avengers movie. They could make it work in one movie, I guess, but the build up just doesn't feel like it's there. Hope they can surprise me, but certainly won't be surprised if they don't... ...yes, that made sense.

    This is my take as well. Thanos was presented simply as an ominous presence up until Infinity War. You'd have to imagine the Kang movie is going to the one to flesh out Kang. Perhaps the mistake was including him (or versions of him) too much too early, but I agree that Loki made me rather compelled to see more. I felt the threat, and I think He Who Remains explained at least himself well enough. I don't really remember Ant-Man's Kang because I only saw it once and I guess it was rather forgettable. Admittedly the premise of the future movie makes it sound like the Kangs will mostly act like that film's Chitauri or Ultron bots, but hopefully they'll find a way to make them more diverse and interesting characters in their own right.

There is still time for Kang to be great but I'd also understand if they took this opportunity to veer away from him.

    The problem is they never should have had Kang lose to Ant-man - he should have murdered Ant-man (I like Paul Rudd), kill those cgi ants and escaped the Quantum realm. Jonathan Majors played him perfectly- Kevin Feige should have never approved a script with Kang losing to Ant-man. Remember that Kang was exiled- he could have been the wild card- he hates all the other versions of himself so he could team up with the Avengers to defeat the other variants & the Avengers would be reluctant to team up with him because he murdered Ant-man

Avengers 5 should ONLY focus on building the bonds between the Avengers members. Get people excited about these crossovers again. Anyway, we'll wait and see how it goes. But on paper, I think it's a mistake.

I was hoping that Avengers 5 would go back to the scale of the 2012 film and make a movie about introducing the new team with 6 or even 7 members. Take a few people like Sam Wilson, Shang-Chi and She-Hulk and make a movie about them meeting and starting the team with a smaller villain instead of this.

Kings goal shouldn't be to conquer a world, it was to conquer all the other versions of him so there could again be one sacred timeline. So Avengers 5 and the defeat of Kang or Secret Wars defeat of Kang would end with a single Kang and a single timeline again, but now it seems Loki 2 has sorta failed that. I’m curious as to what they’ll do with it because just having an army of kangs fighting the avengers doesn’t sound like the appropriate representation of the threat the two seasons of Loki set up. That sounds like avengers age of ultron with all the robots and even that didn’t really live up to the threat of ultron. It shouldn’t be about an infinite number of kangs to punch. The threat is that as long as he exists he is an inevitable destruction of the multiverse. It’s tackling the concept that even if “most” versions of Kang are benevolent scientists even if 1% of them are evil multiverse war waging threats, the effect is still the same. So it should be a much more existential threat than an “army of kangs” to punch if that’s what it ends up being.

    I’m not gonna lie, the original idea sounded better to me, because even though it’s the focal point of this entire saga I have to admit, I’m really burned out on the multiverse at this point, yeah it was neat at first but now it just makes everything in this saga feel inconsequential because there’s always another version of this character out there, and the idea that the original draft of Kang Dynasty was actually gonna have less emphasis on the multiverse/cameo stuff was something I liked because it wasn’t just gonna be vomiting characters from different movies and universes everywhere, but I will admit, despite them doing a pretty piss poor job at making Kang seem like the next Thanos I’m glad they didn’t pivot away from having him as the main villain, because them sticking to their guns and saying “No, look, despite the fact that we haven’t done a very good job with this we should at least show some integrity by seeing it through to the end” Because if they were to pivot away from it and go the direction of say Doctor Doom then it would just seem like them desperately trying to win everybody back by caving into their demands, and good studios should never do that, never let fans bully you into changing things, even if it doesn’t always turn out the best always stick to what your original vision was, because at least then it shows you had a spine

I don’t get why they’re so scared to do this every few years we had a new Spider-Man and a new Batman and a new Superman and it wasn’t that big of a deal. Marvel is scared to death because of the failures that has happened on the movie side of things at DC. When DC tried to reboot Batman and reboot Superman, the Batman reboot went pretty well because it was 20 years since we had gotten any sort of Batman character and there were no properties out. The same also applies to Superman Man of steel However what round up happening was when DC tried to continue with this they retail the same origin story over and over again as they try to reboot the characters for different properties and that’s OK for the comic book audience, but for the thousands of other non-comic book readers you were not used to that sort of thing it can be jarring because it’s the same origin story basically just with different people in the lead the marvel is in a pretty tough position here because if they reboot the characters, it could do well, but not as well because the movie audiences not dumb they will be able to pick up on the fact that it’s basically the same origin story so this leaves them with only one option and that is to try to create something completely new pulling from some other resources.

I feel especially with wolverine an origin story doesn’t have to be the beginning could be his own story with maybe a few flashbacks the same with Iron Man they don’t have to show how he first created the suit, I think what sucks more here is Robert Downey Jr. was so well at it. It would be hard to replace him, but it’s a problem I’ve had with Marvel casting older actors. Just like F4 they are all old already many years can you get out of them?
