Every time I watch the scene where Roku explains the avatar state to Aang I get chills.... I don't know who voices Roku but there is something in is voice or the way he says those lines that moves me... And every time I see this Avatar cycle being represented I am in complete awe, it's so symbolic and meaningful. You can't tell me it's JUST a kids show....

Lol The favoritism between both of their parents, Azula being born a prodigy and everyone having higher expectations of her, her Father raising her to be a cold blooded killing machine that her mother absolutely hated, her sociopathic mindset that had everyone fear her and not having and real friends that loved her for herself, but that only did what she said cuz they feared her. Her lack of compassion and empathy that eventually tore at her soul, especially after she had driven everyone away and had no one in the end

@@chupapi7620 The whole background story of zukos family is sad tbh. The only i really can't find redeeming qualities for is Ozai himself. Selfish and egomaniac from the get go, even Sozin who started the war at least had some twisted ideals about the wealth and superiority of the fire nation being "shared" with the world, he just believed conquest was the only option to do so. Ozai on the other hand only cares about his ego and power.

In Japan, cutting off your topknot, like how Iroh's hair is styled, has various meanings. Usually nothing good. It was done by samurai and usually showed a decline in status and power. Sometimes dishonor. Sometimes defeat. And if anyone but you did it to you, it's disrespectful and meant to shame you. Other cultures have similar beliefs and meanings. In the Fire Nation, they seem to hold that hair style in high regard since so many replicate it. Especially those in high authority. By cutting off their hair, it's a symbol of many things. 1.) They've lost whatever honor they had left. 2.) They have 'abandoned their people' in the eyes of the royal family and army. 3.) They're in need of new appearances because they are refugees now.

It’s kinda crazy how there’s no sort of explanation in the story of ATLA about cutting off the hair, yet the entire scene, you can tell it has significant meaning

Lin Bin that person obviously meant her core bending. There's literally a reincarnation cycle. She is an earth bender born in the earth kingdom.

I'm rewatching this and I've watched Blind Wave and I find it interesting that everyone is so confused about Kyoshi's core nation/bending. When I watched this as a child it was pretty obvious to me that she was from the Earth kingdom. Plus they talk about reincarnation and she was literally right after Avatar Kuruk. Maybe it's because things are so simplified for kids. She had green clothes.

If only you could remember the name of the avatar from the statue in _Kyoshi_ village. I really like *Kyoshi* village. *_KYOSHI._*

The avatar will seize to exist if they are killed in the avatar state. When their eyes are glowing and stuff. Avatars have lost and died. They just weren't killed when the avatar state was activated

soccernicholas6 they were wearing it during the 5th episode of season 2 meaning they haven't met toph yet until the next episode. With the shirt they kinda had an idea that there would be another character in the group which didn't give a good shock value. Plus Navi as always gives out too much info sometimes when she watches with them.

The online discussion after the finale first aired, was full of people saying that Aang was officially too OP, and that avatar state was essentially an atom bomb that could be pointed at the Fire Nation at any time. I was so happy that they addressed this right away. Almost like they knew in advance how the nitpickers were going to react.

@@OlPalJoe ENTIRELY agree. Legendary of Kora has it's cool moments.... overall.... I felt the show hurt this show for being an essential sequel. If they just left the show as is.... it would be PERFECT. Kora was a HORRIBLE avatar. Also the ending was SO forced and unesseary.

@@yme3267 I don't wanna disrespect the writers because they legit got fucked over by Nickelodeon. They were told that the first season was gonna be the only one then they had to make up season 2 (which I find the weakest) on the spot pretty much. But yeah, Korra was plagued by a weak cast and an unfocused narrative. Mako and Bolin needed a lot more to do, but they really didn't get any development like og team avatar. Mako is just the new firebender and Bolin is Sokka without the character growth into a confident leader.

some of the most badass characters are introduced in this season. Toph, Azula, Tai Lee, so many fights that are epic. I love it

Seriously people, they've said they don't want to know what happens in the future. So don't tell them what happens in Korra.

The warriors are named after her, the island is named after her, they said it in the episode. I find it so interesting how so many people remember her name but forget she belongs to it.

Season 2 is when things go from 10/10 to 20/10.

One of my favourite visuals from this show is where Roku explains the Avatar cycle. All of his past lives line up into infinity, and then Roku, on the very end, just *turns his head* to look at Aang. It's SO badass (and truly chilling). I get goosebumps everytime...

did you guys notice how none of the other avatars shown stayed in the avatar state for more than a second? it was more like they quickly gleaned what they needed and then went back to normal, keeping the cycle safe. aang's the only one who says in it for a prolonged period (so far. idk about legend of korra)

I actually think that is because they can control the avatar state and just use it to give them a "boost". Aang cant control it, everytime he goes into avatar state he activates beast mode.

when they cut the hair off their head they were not doing so because they need to change their appearence The cutting off of a person's top-knot was a significant event in traditional Japanese culture. Voluntary removal of one's top-knot, as performed by Zuko and Iroh, was considered a renouncement of title, social status, and pride. in essence both of them are saying they are no longer prince's of the fire nation
