    They need to upload and store speed limits reported from the cars. Road segments still wrong if you turn onto them after having captured the speed limit sign. Also need to use the stat laws to default speed limits based on city limits, etc.

    My Model 3 has been having trouble on curves lately, going wide and then coming back across the lane on the other side, sometimes getting really close to the edge of the lane, which is sketchy when I'm near a shoulder or other car. Will try this tomorrow and hopefully it fixes it!

    Just went on a ride to recalibrate, which as you point out, only takes a few miles with well marked roads. Although calibration completed, my autopilot is still disabled because one camera is out (major bummer). I did notice though that it sensed every traffic light, speed limit sign and stop sign correctly and when I went through a construction zone, it even showed the orange the traffic pylons marking out the temporary lane! Pretty cool.

    I would agree with the cameras needing to see a certain amount of stop signs/speed limit sign to calibrate. After I updated to .36 my m3 wouldn’t show the speed limit sign on my local road until I went for decent drive. Just passing it a few times driving around the block didn’t do the trick.

    I just got around to watching this, and I am definitely going to give it a try. Two issues I consistently see when using Autopilot. One, although the speed limit is posted as 65, it is displayed as 75 mph. In fairness, I might not have passed a speed limit sign as they are spaced pretty far apart. But, my issue is that for no apparent reason, it thinks the speed limit suddenly drops to 55 mph, which is what is displayed on my screen, and rapidly slows down. Needless to say, this is a hazard with traffic around me not anticipating this. The other issue is preparing to exit on a busy, but moving along interstate. I was within 1 mile of the exit, and I can see the line of traffic in front of me. I would have stayed in the lane and waited to exit. Instead, Autopilot moved into the passing lane and started to accelerate. I took control and moved back into the right lane, because I would have had to force my way back into the right lane to make my exit. I am curious if anybody else is experiencing this behavior.

    @DirtyTesla - just went south to Ann Arbor and that darn electronic lane marking sign was mistaken for a stop light. FSD slammed on brakes - fortunately no one behind me. (I’m running x.36). On northbound, passing car and trooper in Tahoe in middle at 90 degrees to road - car thought trooper was going to pull out and did some hard braking - I hit accelerator. I’m sure trooper thought I panicked - but I was going speed limit - LOL.

They were having big issues with the car swaying and not holding centre and all gone since then! Also, it would be very interesting to see that stretch of highway and detecting the overhead lights as traffic lights with 2020.36. We have the same thing on the Sydney harbour bridge and it’s fixed in this version, they’re still detected as lights but the car doesn’t need confirmation or slow down for them. Worth a shot maybe?

    Be Careful!!! IMPORTANT SAFETY PSA: after camera calibration some of your Autopilot settings will return to factory defaults which could be hazardous if you were not aware they changed. Specifically the “Recognition of Red Lights and Stop Signs” will toggle off. This could result it car plowing through an intersection without braking. Calibration also turns off “Chime On Green Light” (which is far less concerning).

    It'll need to work with overhead speed limit signs in the UK. They're legally enforceable and often have a speed camera attached to the same gantry. It'll also mean a change in behaviour so that it reduces speed before the sign is reached, not a few seconds after... Apparently there's quite a lot of leeway between the posted limit and the setting on the camera, but no one will commit to an answer on what the cameras are actually set at. So called Smart Motorways are currently very controversial here - one of the features is using variable speed limits to keep the traffic flowing. That bit does seem to work, but using the shoulder as an extra lane leaving nowhere to stop in an emergency has led to fatalities. The idea is that a stored car will be automatically detected and the lane will be closed using a red cross in the overhead signs - another thing FSD will have to cope with.

  • @DirtyTesla

    @DirtyTesla

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, that's the point of these overhead signs. They will lower the *suggested* speed if there's an accident or slowdown ahead to help with flow. The problem is, since they always say 60 even though the limit is 70, no one listens to them. They can say 45 and everyone will still go 80 until they get to the slowdown.

  • @johnmckay1423

    @@DirtyTesla 3 points on your licence for each time you're caught by a speed camera. 12 points and your licence is gone. Gantries at least every 800m means you could lose your licence in under 2 minutes - most people in the UK slow down for them - even if not to the actual speed shown.

    @@MrCarCrazy I re-calibrated the cameras. It took 5.1 miles. Very quick. I had no problems after calibration. I only drove about 50 miles but no unexpected braking. It will take several days to know for sure. Just note: Today was my 1 year anniversary of getting my Model X. 37043 miles in one year. BTW had to subscribe to premium connectivity today also!

    Slowing from a false intersection light detection of over head highway lane control signs. If only there were a place to file bugs with Tesla. I know service says to use "bug report" in the vehicle, but it's been over two years of blindly reporting the inconsistency of speed limit data vs actual road signs, they just now got to it. I also noticed in his last video, he's charger screen also loads a blank screen, 'low priority existing bug' is not a phrase that should be associated with a company developing a self driving car. And unfortunately this recalibration did not stop my vehicle from swerving into passing on-ramps do to disappearing right hand lane lines, maybe one day someone will spin out on a wet highway for Tesla to take reproducible bugs seriously. Tesla ought to test AP outside their Palo Alto bubble.

    I haven’t gotten the 2020.32.3 update, still sitting on 2020.32. Hey if anyone from Tesla is reading the comments, my vin is 5YJ3E1EB5KF455008... I’d love being in a faster seed for updates or being in the beta/EAP. I participate in every beta software program I can (iOS, watchOS, Windows 10, Android Developer Program, etc.). By the way, I really hope the autopilot rewrite improves lane keep assist/lane departure warning. It always has felt to me like after the car nudges you away from the line it then pulls you back over towards it. Our non-Tesla cars with LKA/LDW just put you back center in the lane, they don’t pull you back over close to the lane markings.

    F C I have noticed that too, about pulling back towards the line. I’ll be more observant and play around with it!
