Guessing the motor sound is because it’s a hatch and open behind the back seats. Kind of like if you lowered the seats in your 3, there would definitely be more noise from the rear since the trunk and seats aren’t insulating it.

I'd say motor sound in the 3 is largely muted by the wind and tire noise as well. 🙂

My Model Y will be delivered in literal hours! Same exact spec but with a tow hitch. So excited!

It's Lima (Lie-Ma) Ohio. The Ohio Highway Patrol does not discriminate. They will ticket anyone. Best advice is to not set the cruise to no more than 5 mph over. I believe 10 over is the set point. It may seem like they pick on you Michiganders but that's because you are use to driving 10-20 mph over.

I got my 2021 model Y long range about two months ago. It was a very good experience. No issues at all. Had my first maintenance to install home link. Seamless and works flawlessly

Very cool! We’ve been to the Maumee supercharger several times on our way to visit family in Ohio. There is a place to eat right behind it that gives Tesla owners 10% off. For what it’s worth, it is pronounced “mawmee” 😉. Looking forward to seeing more vids with your Model Y 😁

When snow and ice got on the rader, it used to disable autopilot on you. I guess that problem is resolved

Just took delivery of my radar-less Model Y long range and am loving it. Have also noticed odd slow downs on auto pilot. Hope the fix that. Congratulations!

Congrats! It looks great! The thing about the white seats, though, is that they stay clean for a while. However, once you scrub them enough times, the stain-resistant coating wears off and they get dirty fast. A ceramic coating is probably a good idea.

I think the extra "beeps" and slow downs are because of the construction barrel/cones. I'm experiencing the same thing on I-96 construction areas.

I like 3 follow distance it slows down vs hard brake when traffic slows. I chage it to one once i am at the stop and go. I have stopped worrying about the people behind me in traffic

Holding out for my CT but tempted to buy a Y.

I’m just mildly jealous, that was nearly my colour combination for my Model 3. Damn it looks amazing with the Y and I am pretty sure that’s what we will get if Y orders ever open up here. Loved the video as always, car looks basically perfect and the delivery experience looked good! Autopilot also looked very good, nice to see Elon reply to you showing the higher speed coming in an update soon. Hope all is well with the family man! :)

Build quality looks great! I could definitely hear the high pitch motor whine, that would drive me nuts but I may be more sensitive to these sounds.

Congrats on the new Y. I took delivery of my M3P in Clarkston a few weeks ago. It was basically perfect, except that the two key cards had melted due to interior heat! They were both warped and wavy shaped. The dealer programmed some new ones in a couple minutes. Personally, I think the delivery defect issues are actually becoming pretty rare. The car is also MUCH quieter than the 2017 I had been driving.

You will hear the rear motor more because there is no cover behind the rear seats to block out the sound. Same is with S and X.

I live in Cincinnati and I have been following your journey. I drive past the Tesla dealership often and dream of one day owning one. My mom's family is from Michigan near Holly so I travel your way often to visit them. Straight shot on 75 if Detroit wasn't always under construction so I always take 23 near your area.

When you stopped at Meijer - they may have had a USB-C to USB-C Cable for your GoPro

I call those Ghost Slows to try to differentiate from sudden phantom braking that I don’t miss from the radar car. Definitely a different experience from the old phantoms.

Might hear the motor more now cause it's not drowned out by the wind noise like your 3 was.

I lived in Ohio for a year and, yeah, they'll ding you for a few miles over the limited even with Ohio tags. And when I was there, it was max 55!

the newer steering wheel has the leather wrapped a different way. its not sectioned on the top half like before

Long story short, we were at the Freemont Factory the evening of June 16th using the public Superchargers in the parking lot (and meeting with a friend of ours that works there). Maybe we saw your new car pull out of the factory!!! :-)

My sr+ M3 warm weather efficiency has been 215 wh/mile over 2,000 miles so far

I've noticed new autopilot with tesla vision requires auto high beams on. It can be annoying on local roads at night and I figured out a way to get around it by toggling it on and off on the screen.

Chris you don’t have a trunk anymore to keep the rear motor quiet. I first noticed this phenom on my 73 Chevy Vega. Not electric, of course, but rear end noise.

I was going to get black seats in my Cybertruck, but then she had to mention it makes it look like a spaceship. Doh! OK gimme the dang white seats. I suppose I can always dye them blue if I get them stained from my jeans. LOL.

Must be A Michigan thing, I had TN plates for 6 months and always drive 5 to 7 over the speed limit. The one time I was pulled over I was 11 over because I didn’t catch the speed limit drop from 70 to 65 and I was going 76. Then in 7 years with Ohio plates I still had the same experience as long as you was no more than 9 miles over speed limit. Now another possibility is the fact you are closer to the border. I spent most of my time in Cleveland area.

I have MYP, and do not hear any motor noise unless accelerating hard or when it is preconditioning. The whine is coming through pretty loud on this video, hope it is normal! Enjoy your new car!

That motor sound is normal if it ain’t broken don’t fix it

From Columbus OH, and never been pulled over going 5-10 mph over. OSP can be more strict near the borders due to Ohio being a "slow" state.

Try putting a layer of Blue or pink insulation styrofoam board from Lowe’s or Home Depot in the trunk, and that will probably dampen the motor noise. Custom cut it to fit the shape of the floor back there.

I'd say overall it's probably 10% less efficient than a new model 3 but yea possibly almost as efficient as your older one. Beautiful car man. Honestly as high end as the new model S is I kinda love the simplicity of the Y and 3. Y is their best overall car by a long shot IMO.
