I've put off learning to rebuild a carburator for 50 years. Your video makes it look doable so thanks and I'm off to give it a try on my 54 Mustang!!!!

Great video. I'm running a 1.12 4100 on my Galaxie, but I converted mine to a manual choke. Always thought those to be the very best four barrel carburetors available.

Thanks Mike for the best quality carb kits you sell for the 4100 i bought the PK107 kit with the floats and secondary diaphram and your video made it very easy to build.

Great video, and I just ordered the full kit for my '65 Mustang's 4100. I downloaded the manuals and have read through a few tuning guides, but I was curious if you've posted a 4100 tuning/adjustment video. Some of the original instructions are a bit strange, especially setting the choke valve.

My autolite has brass plates in the top that seems to fit on the inside of the carb. Can you tell me what it does and where it goes? I did not see it on your carb.

Hay Mike, I took in a 4100 to rebuild, I noticed the vacuum diaphragm for the secondary's had a tiny ball fall out, I did not see you install one in that carb, I'm guessing it went into the vacuum port of the carb I'm building, It came off a 65 GT Mustang, Is that tiny ball important?

Hi - I was being a ham-fisted idiot and managed to break off the little brass tube that sits in the cover under the choke. I saw that your hardware kit has this tube. How do you install it? I would think it would need to be a slight interference fit so it doesn't fall out? Thanks.

Your kit worked great but when engine is cold I have to let the fuel pump fill up the carb before it will crank up. Once it's running it cranks immediately but shut it off for 4 hours and the gas seems to disappear. I have the 1" water cooled spacer under the carb. '64 Galaxy 390 stock engine. Any suggestions?

Inspect your floats and the attached pin. A secondary purpose is supposed to seal, to prevent fuel from draining out of the fuel bowl(s) back down through the filter and line into the fuel pump and tank…gravity… If a float is compromised, it might be filled with fuel and not actually floated which will push the pin down for sealing.

What is the purpose of the "secondary" that you reassemble from shortly before 1:05:00 to shortly after that? It has the rubber diaphragm, spring, cover, etc.

***** Does the diaphragm actuate the secondary throttle plates mechanically via some kind of linkage, or does it control air pressure inside the chamber where the plates are?

@@MikesCarburetor Thanks. My 4100 has the plastic arm for the secondary. If that plastic ever breaks - can i use the metal arm and rod from a spare parts 4100 carb I have? I have a new diaphragm for both plastic and metal arms.

@@MikesCarburetor Is there any particular mistake you could make rebuilding the autolite 4100 that would cause the engine to chug, belch black smoke at idle, and run rich over the entire RPM range? That is the situation I am facing.

Hi, I finished rebuilding my 4100 on my 65 tbird but when I installed it back and gave it a try, fuel was squirting on each side of my accelerator pump, could a bad level (where do I find the exact depth by the way?) on the floats be responsible from that leak? It seemed to me screws were tight enough, or maybe a bad gasket? Thanks
@MikesCarburetor

If it is coming out of the pump cover then the cover is warped from over tightening. Remove it and run a flat file over it. You will find the high spots will be at the screw holes. There is no accelerator pump level measurement.
