I LOVED the ripsaw entry to the unmanned tank contract. I love the idea of a group of our soldiers going on patrol and at that time they fire up the all electric, silent drone tank heavily armored, can be used to transport an injusred soldier if needed but imagine an ambush and the tank is able to provide cover instantly using sensor systems to locate targets , having computer aided high precision shots and canon fire, or having the tank stay back from an elevated position when entering a small Afghan city where the drone sniper can provide cover . Think it would be a game changer. 10,000 lbs verses a 120,000 lb M1, so transport is unbelieveable, can be operated by a single drone pilot if desired, all systems or can have a seperated gunner and driver. electric so it's silent, much smaller than a tank and newer optics, imagine troop support from a silent smaller armored tank . They have an option for a precision long range rife and optics added as a secondary that becaue of the optics and mechanical stability hard mounted weapon its suppose tonmake a standard drone pilot better than an expert marksman with much greater range and the computer makes all the calculations instantly and then fires within miliseconds of the signal given making all the adjustments for wind, humors earths rotation etc. the direction we are moving is crazy!

Would it be feasible to allow a helicopter to have an internal load system (such as Bell in this video) that utilizes rail system on the lift bearing wings? Pilot activates missile system, opens side, one missile gets loaded onto each end of the lift bearing wings, fire, missile mount gets discarded as part of the firing system, reload empty wing(s) depending on the method pilot fire missiles (both wings simultaneously or individually), and retract loaded missile back into storage should pilot deactivate missile system. With proper loading system, it may increased overall storage of missiles by utilizing more space in the back of the helicopter (including some areas in the tail section).

I definitely would not like to patrol in any of these new light stuff. But if they are not good for patrol, what are they good for? Logistical support? Driving up and down in desert to do recce instead of UAVs? Why any sane general would like to put soldiers in these? Afghanistan, Iraq and any asymmetric war proved you need IED protection, is that lesson forgotten so quickly?

The Invictus looks very cool but it's not stealth like Comanche and it costs the same as an Apache minus the firepower (30mm gun and more Hellfires)! Questions also on survivabilty vs Apache. Is it really worth spending money and time to redevelop something that goes only a few mph faster? What makes a 180 knots some magical threshold? Anyway wasn't it a requirement for FARA to go +200 knots? At $30m per unit this is going to be expensive to replace the $7m Kiowa OH58 fleet. If speed and range are what is needed for scout attack then Sikorsky S97 Raider seems to be a better choice at half the price at $15m.

Man I just want Jeep to get the contract because that would put the Jeep Gladiator in as a mass production military vehicle as an Army Surplus, which means just like the billions of retired surplus HMVEEs now for sale everywhere dirt cheap , the Gladiator retired surplus few years down the road will become the surplus auctioning off, great thing about that is they are military government maintained to a MUCH MORE demanding level, the mileage stays extremely low, (most of he retired Humvees have less than 10,000 original miles on them, also was required to have a diesel option which is Jeep Wrangler people have been waiting for! Will have upgraded higher end systems like axles, brakes, alternators , etc, the Rubicom package drivetrane will be standard, Dana 44 front and rear axles, electric locking differentials front and rear and the 4:1 transfercase for low end torque that the Jeep will need in a military set up. The diesel will be quite a bit more powerful than the civilian eco diesel too to meet the requirements, the 4 wheel disc brakes standard on Rubicon which are great will be seriously upgraded to stop much heavier armored gladiators, the gear ratio will be more likely a 4:88 than a 4.10 for strength and the weight, then all the different accessories that all these vendors will be making for it utility wisenin an military scenario,. Best part is a Rubicon Gladiator civilian version is around $65,000 with the rubicon package, these Jeeps which our government will pay over $80,000 a piece for will return and be sold off for $$20,000 in 5 years or less and have less than 20,000 miles , all the services and all the goodies you can't even get on a top package Rubicon. Would be an amazing thing for is Jeep owners. I think they are the likely pick as a lot of our allies are already using the Gladiator and JL Rubicon's as their primary light tactical.

Space Monkey Maybe, it’s been tested successfully on some Stryker variants but I don’t think it was ever certified for it. Besides the Stryker base armor is only rated to stop something like 14.5mm projectiles which may as well be tissue paper in a fight with other IFV’s, let alone actual tanks. I would at least hope this new light tank could stand up to 25mm, or even 30mm rounds.

Les Mounteer it's recyclable, that's part of why the company is using it, going to save a lot of money in recycling instead of buying new material, it's also lighter by a lot which will allow a lot more ammo to be transported to our forces and a lot more ammo carried per souldier with less fatigue. Actually a genius idea, cheaper, lighter, same performance. 👍

Meanwhile, Philippines is still stuck in '70s type of military equipment and tactics. They're in thick of modernization with palms out and asking Uncle Sam for hand me down used equipments to leap frog into '80s military Army.

David Mcneil, the rounds are already under evaluation at Tobyhanana. Combined with composite tips, the weight reduction could allow higher loadouts. Now if they had the same spec as conventional rounds so you could use either.
