    What I do not understand is why ne Air Defense vehicles do not come with narrow band radio jamming and a focused microwave gun for taking out drones. They are not large, and they are very effective against smaller drones that are hard to protect from these weapons. These are also FAR easier and faster to operate that a missile or gun and likely far easier to hit a target than with a gun.

    Canada needs the Valour! We can build them in Quebec. Our Griffins have served us very well but are best relegated to utility roles in todays combat environment.

    The Canadian government prefers to choose working and combat proven aircraft rather than experimental or aircraft that are still in development for its combat operations. And to have it cheaper as well.

    is the STRYKER A1 iM-SHORAD 8X8 + 5.0 in. Lift 9.0 TDI I6 3-Dr Armoured IFV (LHD) available with a 30 MM GAU-8 Avenger or the 25 MM GAU-12/U Equalizer instead of the 30 MM cannon??? because depleted uranium 30 MM shells of the new upgraded GAU-8 Avenger II is way better than any 30 MM cannon!!!

    I know this is really old but no, they plan to do something similar to F-35 to drive down costs. Multiple allies have shown interest

    The V-280 is likely more expensive than the V-22, which is about 2x the size. I would rather just see a wider variety of V-22 so they share most parts. This would lower the cost of the V-22 even more. They have similar speeds and ranges. The V-22 carries 24 passengers plus 6 in the isle if needed and can lift something like 15,000 pounds. It would be nice to see a variant with a nose gun and missiles similar to an Apache. The navy is already looking at an anti-sub version and a sea rescue as well ass possibly an refueling tanker. I would also like to see a radar plane version like an AWACS or Hawkeye. This will add more capabilities to the America/Wasp class ships and give them similar capabilities of a full sized carrier. I think the Switchblade is neat but the need for an air compressor is just stupid. They should just put it in a tube with a charge and a small rocket to gain altitude. You could make it reloadable but the storage containers would likely make it just as heavy. Seeing the Humvee 2.0 shown with 8 Switchblade 600 and 4 Switchblade 300 looked like a good idea. They need to make them a bit harder to jam and they need to make a drone with a signal booster that you just give a GPS coordinate and it will go hover until the battery starts getting low and then returns to a pickup location.

    I think the Valor makes way more sense, especially maintenance wise.

  • @TakNuke

    @TakNuke

    The only problem with valor is that is small. The tiltrotor concept is waste at that size a mid size like cv22 with 24 to 30 seats is better as it matches and exceed in capacity and speed respectively when it comes to mi8/17 while stick with coaxial for light hover class with 12 to 16 seats. Although US military has invested in ch53k for heavy lift a 50 to 60 seat quad engine Chinook would be the icing on the cake.

    @@TakNuke I meant in terms of the Valor vs the Sikorsky SB-1 Defiant, which it is in a competition with for the Army. I think three rotors is a maintenance nightmare and a bigger risk in the way it's set up.

  • @TakNuke

    @TakNuke

    @@CheapSushi If one wants hover and vertical lift nothing can outperform a coaxial even ka226 is rated for himalayas currently replacing aloutte 3 in the Indian military while a tilitrotor have a higher disk loading along with reduce hover and vertical lift due to wing interference that's why it's good for when range and speed is priority. As usual a coaxial is better for light class while a tiltrotor is better for mid class pitting it against mi8/17 and Merlin etc. While the kmax can be developed for ultra light class as an ah/mh 6 replacement. A larger Chinook will be better choice for heavy and a quad tilt for ultra heavy.

  • @CheapSushi

    @CheapSushi

    @@TakNuke Problem is, it not only has a coaxial, but then a 3rd prop in the rear for forward thrust. It's a maintenance nightmare. Any number of small arms could ruin it's day. I think the Valor just makes so much more sense. They should definitely consider a quad Chinook.

  • @TakNuke

    @@CheapSushi Tail rotor damage is not a problem as its role is of pushing not of anti torque like in conventional rotor. So even if it's get damage vtol of defiant will not be affected only its speed will be. While some might say rotor blades might hit each other is a possibility, the success of tandem rotor and intermeshing rotors in usa and coaxial rotors in Russia eliminates such problem. Beside that the rotor design on defiant is rigid rotor which eliminates problem blades flexing.

    How much ego does it take to assume that none of the people who worked on the V-22 project ever thought of something like that before and to ignore that maybe there were tactical/operational requirements that necessitated certain design choices or that the evolution of technology allows for things nowadays that wouldn't have been feasible 30 years ago when the Osprey was first designed?
