It's really about forming an identity. Becoming one with the journey as opposed to solely focusing on the end goal. Definitely a "growth mindset" lifestyle.
This man literally changed my whole perspective about life. The idea that - "Your identity is determined by your habits" is a thought that can be lifechanging.

Summary: a. Noticing - People think they lack motivation, when in fact they lack clarity. b. Wanting - Environment plays a role. Create environment for you to succeed in your goal. c. Doing - Optimize for the start line, not finish line. d. Liking what you do - We repeat behaviors, because we like them.

Also, identity change is key. Ex: don't say "I'm gonna read lots of books", say "I am a reader". This makes setting goals not seem rigid and it'll make it easier to mold daily habits based on personal preference of certain materials.

I put a sticker on my calendar every time I go to swim, or gym, or tai chi.each one a different color..but the concept of DONT BREAK THE CHAIN..wow that was new. There are days I have had to miss...I have done this for 10 years...and kept a chart from 2015 of my exercise routines....just like he says these stickers have an immediate response..but as I like to write..I am going to do it for my new book too....I have been procrastinating...for a while ....today putting a star on the calendar every time I sit to write....really liked his presentation......as I have never heard of him before...

This is by far and I mean by far the best author on habits. Clear and concise. I read his book 12 months ago as couldn’t be motivated to The gym. I am totally transformed by remaining consistent and understanding the 1% rule. Even though you can’t see it happening daily I would normally lose motivation. Just never give up. I continually go back to the book as it is so inspiring for me.

Focus on systems instead of end goals, this was the best advice I ever heard, and these are the pieces of advices you can get from this book, although, I love the way the author is structuring the book, when you've to go through a summarize after each chapter.

This theory has been discussed in Bhagwad Geeta A Hindu holy book as "Law of KARMA" where lord Krishna says to Arjuna ( who was indecisive regarding participating in the war against evil as many members of his own family were there in evil group). Krishna says a Mantra "Karmaney wadhikaraste ma faleshu Kadachna..... which says focus on your "karma" means your duty not on the "fal"- the fruits.....which may follow automatically n those are not in the domain of your rights. Such an amazing theory! relevant even today n described in the book "The Atomic habbits" by this author so well.

agreed. read the book and summary
I like how he approaches motivation. We often think we need to wait until we're "motivated enough" to move forward in a positive direction. Or wait until fear about taking action dissipates. In reality, doing anything that nudges us in the right direction--no matter how small the act or step--is a way to nurture the growth of more motivation and gain more courage. 5:05 is an awesome quote: "The actions that you take provide evidence for who you are." It's another way of saying the old truth "actions speak louder than words".

I live a life based on the movie Groundhog Day. Every day is not a, "new day," but rather an opportunity to do my day over again. This is the day that the Lord has made. Not yesterday, or tomorrow. In God's economy of time, there is now, and there is not-now. Now is all that matters, and today is the only day that truly exists in REALITY. So, I have not prayed every morning for... (time length) but rather... I prayed this morning.
GREAT speech!

This pairs well with David Goggins' book "Can't Hurt Me."
I really loved his book...the way he changed my thoughts regarding my life was astonishing... I could never imagine how I was being under the control of the things I thought were inanimate
This book changed my life really
I immensely love these words Every action is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.
"If you can change your habits you can change your life". But if you are really struggling to change your habits, don't despair - you are not broken, and I know things can get better. I don't know your situation, but mine was that I needed safe connection (for me it was therapy, though it could be anyone, even pets) to start to discover who I am and to break out of the cycle of anxiety and low self-esteem from years of playing the golden-child role. For so long I thought I was broken, because no matter how hard I pushed I couldn't even do two minutes of a habit I wanted, but now that I'm more healed I've returned to habits. I make my bed every morning. I tidy up before bed. Small habits, but I'm just getting started again.
Love your voice! Hiking the mountain, listening this video consoles me deeply~I appreciate it♡

When I first saw him in video , I was carefully checking the scar in his forehead because in his childhood his classmate had brutally fractured his skull with a baseball bat. Good to see that he doesn't have that scar anymore. Just finished reading Atomic Habits. What a great book it is.
This guy really understand the human mind, I agree with a ton of what he is saying. As someone who has dealt with serious depression and lack of motivation, it has taught me a ton about what drives people, and he is spot on. But having that knowledge, doesn't mean you can overcome it.
Consistency, repetition, you change your identity - over time
