that depends where the knee pain is coming from. If its from an injury then do some rehab work first to strengthen and then do these kinds of exercises. Otherwise if its just coming from a poor lifestyle then you sure can carefully start with these exercises maybe just as bodyweight first and slowly get stronger.

You should only feel in the front leg but because the back leg is giving a bit of assistance so its ok to feel a little tension on that leg too but not too much.
