Sending huge thank you out to you for doing this video!! Brilliantly informative and to the point! I haven’t set up a router for years so this was a brilliant refresh for me with all the new and brilliant things I can do! Now set up very nicely with a virgin hub 3 as a modem! No more dropping internet and Wi-Fi 10 times a day, just nice beautifully effect internet and Wi-Fi again!! I’m so happy👍🤩 I will check out your other videos but honestly appreciate you taking the time out👍😎🤣

Why do I randomly get lag spikes out of no where when I own the ASUS BE96U which is a new version of their router. I’m so frustrated cause I almost spent $1,000 on this shit and it’s lagging in games thru Ethernet. Plz help if you can 🙏🏽 I’ll give a better description if answered.

Thanks for a video. How would RT-AC86U AC2900 compare to RT-AX55 when it comes to wireless game streaming? Does WiFi 6 make a difference?

WiFi 6 makes a big difference with Gaming over WiFi as you will have faster connection speeds and should give you better ping times (response times). WiFi AX is more future proof as well.

Hey man so I purchased the asus rt-ax82u and it doesn’t have the vpn client I’ve seen other people’s views and they all have it am I missing an update?

Perhaps best to access the setting via a web browser and look for VPN under the menu Advanced Settings > VPN > there should be three tabs, should be there. Also try while in the settings, go to Administration > Firmware Upgrade (Tab) > Click the Check button to see if there is an update

I am changing over to T-Mobile Home Internet Router (maybe just long enough to bail out of my cable supplier long enough to reconnect as a new customer w/ MUCH better pricing in 30 days! WHAT A HIDDIOUS MARKETING SCAM) and have been advised to change the MTU size to 1420. I have no idea what I'm currently set at and have not been able to find the place on my ASUS RT-AX86U to set that up. Your video was extremely helpful to understand all the features of ASUS router, but I still can't figure out if this is even a change that ASUS allows me to change. If you (or anyone else) know what screen this is located on please respond. Thanks again for a VERY informative posting that was very helpful for all other features of these fine ASUS routers.

You think its the same on an ax asus router? I am getting the ax88u.

Only settings that would potentially be different would be the WiFi settings as ax88u has a 4x4 wifi, and ac86u is 3x3.

its way better then many other router but the maximum i dont know its my first day that i try this router out with openvpn i have 250mbts and i get with open vpn 220 mbts so its very fast and no propblems so far . and get a Asus merlin version its very ez to install and u have more options in

After 2 years of flawless use, now getting error message “YOUR ISP'S DHCP DOES NOT FUNGTION PROPERLY”. Doesn’t look like Verizon or ASUS updated their firmware. Router just randomly stops working reboot usually fixes.

Just in case I can see an updated firmware was released on 2023/07/10 ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51915. The DHCP may be conflicting with each other if you are using two Routers, have you tried logging in to Verizon & Asus to see if both may be switched on? Only one should have this enabled.
