That wasn't her point. The point she was trying to make was that all her (the moms) kids chip in to giving their mom money and she felt disrespected that Kalani is "making" Asuelu not cash in anymore. However, it's not always what it looks. I'm also an islander (not Samoan but Tongan) and our culture is similar in some ways. We usually give money to our elders to chip in for weddings, funerals, birthdays, church events, etc. The money doesn't usually stay within the family, it's usually given away. So I understand the concept of giving money to our elders but the show just makes them look like beggars.
