Japanese studies with sick people showed best results with 12mg per day for six months (the length of the studies). I'm going with 12mg for now. I can cut back when I'm dead. 🙂

I saw a Japanese video about astaxanthin on KZread, too. I suspect studies use extremely high amounts to get obvious differences in results. I'm not sure if a human body utilizes astaxanthin as much as 12 mg a day.

Rudi is correct, no need to take 12 mg each day. Try rather to maximize absorbtion, I take 4 mg with omega 3's or a soft boiled egg. We should thank Rudi for telling us the truth rather than pushing expensive and wasteful dosages to the public.

You don't think Rudi's product is a rip-off??!! $36.99 for 30 @ 12mg?? What a joke... I take synthetic Asta... yep the one made from petrochemicals and it's restored my vision 20-20 and skin softness/texture is amazing. This guy's product is an absolute rip-off

@@mattscheitel6697 There are many brands a person can try. Just experiment to find the best one with the best price. Free radicals hurt people. Grounding helped my eyes more than astaxanthin, but each person is different in what may help.

12 mg a day works great for me . Improved eyes. More stamina. Especially if exercising wow the bursts of long enrgy is incredible. I can move so fast with ease like never before. Less aches and pains . Astixanthin and a good diet with other vitamins and antioxidants and minerals . Walk as much as you can just walk. Speed walk if you're able. It works wonders 2 hour or more per day .

I think there is a loading phase. Start with 12mg for a few weeks and then drop to 4mg. Bioavailability is low so it make sense to use a higher amount

Georgie Bonnell For fatty liver take one gram or more krill oil a day. MegaRed with no fish oil in it. Their supplier Akerbiomarine has a clinical study . Take 4 mg Astaxanthin.
for the moment 8 mg by days, no problems: great results on eyes and skin
So if it's clear that taking more than 2 mg will not provide any further benefit why do studies typically use 4-12 mg a day?
can we take it with cheese ?
What about glaucoma?
Another question would be if your product is so much more bioavailable, wouldn't that mean it approximates the effects of the higher doses not so well absorbed you advise against, since it's a low dose but better absorbed?

It maybe different in each person. Taking it with food/enzymes, maybe different than on empty stomach and it may depend on how many other antioxidants they are already taking. Over doing an antioxidant may hurt. The company doesn't have to use a high dose, but make it work better, but still figure out your own dose carefully so people don't get afraid to use it when bad things happen as it accumulates.

I can't find the product itself anywhere for sale. I could only find a list of buyers of individual Valensa manufacturing ingredients. I'll just go buy some Astaxanthin from Puritan Pride, which contains sunflower seed oil already and will eat avocados for their lipase content.

No gluten/dairy/soy/sugar/GMO/food with a label/heated oils...taking vitamins/good oils/minerals...probiotic...LDN..detoxing. Fish oil 2000mg/Zn/Mg/Vit C/astaxanthin/lecithin/Vit B12 with intrinsic factor/Amour thyroid if needed/evening primrose oil/krill oil (has 1mg of astaxanthin) and more help me.
I'm intolerant of Shellfish; no problem with Salmon. So can one be allergic to astaxanthin ?

Any oil may help since it is fat soluble and taking enzymes... lipase may help that digests fat. Taking it with a meal may help.

Jovanka Bulatovich olive oil at Valensa. Cyanotech uses safflower or sunflower oil= less stable.

Chayon Shaah the t1/2 I’d Astaxanthin in blood is 16 hours. So if you take it every 24 hours, guess what? You reach C max in 2weeks at 4mg/day

+Matt Matton A former employee of one of the Astaxanthin producers said that they actually tried high doses and at 24 mg/day the pigmentation started. In any case what other things happen at these excess doses? It can screw up your liver Matt. Good luck with your self experimentation!

Is there any evidence it can screw up your liver? I've read a lot of literature about Astaxanthin and I see no evidence of an overdose. In labs, mice were given much higher quantities and there was no liver toxicity. Also, we don't know how much of the Astaxanthin is absorbed by the body so it makes more sense to take 12mg to be safe. I'd be interested to read your thoughts about this Rudi.

I've been taking 12 mg a day for 2 years.Blood tests show no damage.I go up to 24 mg in the summer because I don't want to sunburn badly.
Sao too late for me. The pills I bought contain 12 mg per pill. But I'll keep this in mind next time I need to purchase more off them.

Victor Valdez Just take one every other or every third day. Carotinoids move through the limphatic system. You do not need to take every day.

+Victor Valdez You will find out in Medical school that overuse of fat soluble anti oxidants can have negative effects on the liver. In some test animals lycopene actually crystallized in the rat liver. Keep the dose of Astaxanthin between 2 mg to 4 mg a day. That is what I do and it works for me. Since we manufacture Astaxanthin I can take any dose for "free". I use 4 mg Zanthin XP-3 a day

Geena114 You should take 2 to 4 mg every day with food. The bio-accumulation will stop when T (Max) is achieved. Taking more is not better.

My front teeth started hurting and hair/nails did not grow. I am waiting for them to be ok again and lower the dose. My Krill oil has 1mg and that doesn't hurt me. I love the dramatic affect of a higher dose, but then it hurts me. Lower is better. Great video to understand this. It helped my memory/sleep/balance etc...great help to not have the fat in the brain/body be rancid, due to lack of antioxidants.

Based on what research papper you state that astaxanthin stops bioaccumulating in humans and what is maximum dosage body can attain before it is wasted? I think it is worth having skin pigmentation for longer lifespan, health span and other health benefits of astaxanthin. I find also interesting your claim that it increases physical endurance?

Gediminas max dosage is the wrong term. C max is the right term. The maximum amount of concentration in your tissue. If you take 2 mg/day you reach C max in 4 weeks. 4 mg 2 weeks. Since it is fat soluble and therefore stored in fatty tissue, you don’t need it every day.

For antiaging astaxanthin alone wont do much. You need water soluble antioxidants and vitamins too. For telomeres u need TA65

I take astaxanthin for 2 months the first month my skin glows, shiny hair, and happy mood but after a month the good effects disappeared, i started to have problem with my sleep, lots of facial hair, joint muscle pain, and very late period i think it mess with my cycle. Yes....it lasted a month in me and my nails did not grow or hair. Grounding did the same thing to me..blocked chemical reactions, but was awesome help at first to low swelling/inflammation/help sleep/help memory etc.. I ate lots of carrots and turned orange. They said it may happen in low thyroid people who gluten hurts. Take with food/fat? I take enzymes with my food. Taking astaxanthin without food doesn't work?

All astaxanthin needs to be taken with fat. His already has the fat included and more. Enzymes are needed so you 12mg may turn into much more affect. A lower dose may prevent bad things from happening which it did in me.

@@vvdv3444 I tried grounding and good/ bad things happened and then I tried Astaxanthin which was better, but also hurt. Nails/hair did not grow/front and side teeth hurt greatly like they were dying. I knew not to take more until my nail/hair started to be normal again. Astaxanthin helped my memory/balance/sleep, but eyes were blinded by the light like B vitamins were blocked and a strange dot was moving around in my view. The astaxanthin and grounding both lasted a long time...more than a month in me and chemical reactions were blocked? I get 1mg of astaxanthin in Krill oil daily so maybe will try 2mg and wait for the effect to wear off. Each person is different and brands are different and they may take other antioxidants. Each person will need to experiment in a safe way..start low and see how each dose affects them so they only get the good and not the bad. I stopped taking it fast fearing my teeth would die. I will try again, but less. This supplement is different than others. People need to be more careful with it. I didn't want to see more bad things happening so had to stop it and wait for it to leave my brain/body before I try another experiment with another dose. Eyes are more blurry now...harder to see things with Astaxanthin. Grounding made my eyes crystal clear. Grounding lowered my swelling/inflammation in my brain/body and helped me play piano better, but again it lasted too long and blocked other supplements/chemical reactions and I looked older etc. People need to be careful.

The only thing that concerns me is that you may be suggesting the lower amounts better so to not have to buy as much when producing your product. You could therefore claim it better when actually inferior . Not that you are doing that, but I have no way to know if you are..

Indeed. This guy is full of shit. He's trying to justify extortionate costs per mg of the shilled product. I have not yet found a single study on NCBI that suggests anything under 10mg/day is remotely close to peak efficacy.

+Rudi Moerck "Danger of skin pigmentation" -- This side effect isn't particularly dangerous. Just reduce your dose if your skin starts changing colors.

+Richard Harrington I is not only pigmentation. Too much antioxidant can effect liver function since the livers main functions include oxidation so why over inhibit that? One dose of Astaxanthin stays in your blood for 100 hours and you are taking a dose every 24. The T = 1/2 is 16 hours so it bio-accumulates. 1/2 of the dose is still present after 16 hours. Some Astaxanthin sold is unstable one manufacturer states that their product is stable for 1 year at 8 degrees Centigrade. That is very unstable because most is stored at 20 degrees or above. Get off the 12 mg kick and take 4 mg a day (already a high dose) or take the 12 every third day.

I'm not arguing that pigmentation can happen, or build up. But I am curious.. If it's 46 times (or whatever) stronger than vitamin E (or whatever) and we only take 1/46th the dosage.. What the hell is the point of using Astaxanthin in the first place? If Vitamin C is (again, insert numbers from research), say 1/50th as powerful and we can take 100-200 times the dosage.. Doesn't that theoretically make Vitamin C a -better- antioxidant?

It depends on the brand and each person is different in what they need.
So 6-10 mg a day is too much. Then you proceed to tell us that your 2-4mg product is 2-3.7 times more bioavailable. So your product is equivalent to 4-14.8mg. Is this some kind of stupid joke to you where you just scam people? If more is not better then why make it 3.7 times more bioavailable? I don't think anyone should buy your product or listen to a word you say.

Lee Lo bioavailability is dependent on diet and fat intake.
