ASMR Chess vs. Dido ASMR ♔ Battle of the Channels pt. 1 ♔

Ойын-сауық

When two ASMR channels challenge eachother for chess supremacy!
Watch Dido's perspective here: • [ASMR] Dido vs ASMR Chess
In this video I play slow chess (15I10) vs my friend Dido ASMR. I narrate the games and explain my thoughts in a calm voice that is mean to relax you and perhaps give you some tingles here and there.
Dido ASMR is a super cool ASMRtist who does a variety of videos. My absolute favourites are his Card Magic videos and of course his chess videos. Go check out (and sub to?!) his channel ‪@DidoASMR‬

    3 жыл бұрын

    I couldn’t because he could defend with Rb1 and now my knight is under attack and if I take the bishop he could recapture with the rook. All-in-all, I don’t really win anything apart from eliminating that pesky bishop!!

  • @ASMRChess

    @ASMRChess

    3 жыл бұрын

    I'll add something to Dido's instructive explanation. By trading the knight for the bishop in the way you describe you would trade a piece that has moved 5 times for a piece that has moved 0 times. You have effectively wasted 5 moves doing nothing which is a disadvantage.

    Lovely video! I have a question pertaining to strategy. I`ve seen many games in this channel, many of which involve the enemy knight pinning our knight (such as at 2:36 in this game). Why is it that Pawn to H6 is never used as a counter? I assume that it's because we want to maintain the defensive integrity of the pawn structure, but I'm a bit of a chess newbie, so I'm not really sure. Thanks again for the awesome video!

  • @ASMRChess

    @ASMRChess

    3 жыл бұрын

    it all depends on the circumstances surrounding the pin. In the position you mention pawn to h6 would not be ideal, since white can capture the knight and mess up the pawn structure. I instead played e6 so that I could recapture with the queen and keep the structure uncompromised. In other positions you want to kick the bishop, like I did at 07:06

    @@samhargrave5901 no problem my friend. Usually when something seems 'obvious' in chess there is more to it. Now in this video it is just me and Dido playing and so there will be more mistakes. However I also get a lot of comments with "why didn't Capablanca/other legendary super chess grand master just play this or that move? It was clearly better" and invariably there is some small wrinkle in the position so that it doesn't work. Of course even the greatest make mistakes occasionally - but if you find something obvious - chances are it's wrong.
