ASMR 0101 Are you Commodore fan?
Ойын-сауық
Do any of you remember this beast? It has 64 kB of memory and is equipped with 8-bit CPU.
In order to play a game you had to load it from a cassette. Quite often it was necessary to adjust the head of the datasette unit every time you decided to switch the cassette, so If you didn't have a small enough screwdriver up your sleeve, you could only dream about the fun from playing Maniac Mansion.
I have a vague but surely very nostalgic recollection of those days in the 90's when me and my sister used to sit in front of a tv screen waiting with anticipation for another game to load from a brand new cassette. We were so stoked every time when one of our older cousins let us borrow a new collection of games, that everything else seemed to stop existing for us. Right after coming back home, we were looking at the magic dance of pink and black bands which are the graphical representation of data flowing bit by bit through the maze of logic gates. We always kept our fingers crossed hoping that it'll help to prevent us from getting another loading error.
One day for no apparent reason we couldn't load any of the games. We thought the computer is broken, so we had to find a solution.
There was only one computer geek living nearby. His name is Robert. He was famous for throwing his brand new PC out of the window in a fit of rage. I liked him very much even though I had never even talked to him.
It was a beautiful sunny day, so I decided to go for a bike ride. I think it wasn't a coincidence that I passed next to Robert's house more than 100 times. Finally I spotted his mother. She was watering flowers in the garden when I hit the brakes sending a small wave of gravel to the side of the hedge.
''Hello Mrs Pozon! How are you?'' I asked
''I'm fine thanks... You know that now I'll have to rake the gravel from the lawn.'' She answered frowning on me
''I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to...'' I uttered shakily
''Why did you stop here? And please do not tell me that you only wanted to say hello. He?''
''Yes.. No, actually I .... Is Robert home?''
''Yes, but he hasn't woken up yet.'' She said without looking at me
''Would you be kind enough to tell him that I really need his help? My computer doesn't work.'' I asked clenching the bike's handles
'''Hey kid, what's up?'' - Robert suddenly showed up on the balcony. He yawned, stretched himself and put on his glasses.
''Hello Robert! It's nice to meet you! Can you help me with my Commodore 64?'' I called up to him
''No problem. Give me a sec. I'll be right down.'' He said enthusiastically
''For God's sake! At least eat something Robert!'' His mother furiously yelled at him. Dog who has been playing in the backyard flinched and then put his tail between his legs.
''Don't worry mum. Commodore 64 are very nutritious.'' He replied to her while walking towards me.
After a while me and Robert were on our way to my house. It turned out that instead of F3 I was wrongly pressing F4 to play a loaded game. He showed me some useful commands and advised to write all of them down in a notebook, so that I could look them up any time I need them.
''Hey Rob, Is that true you threw your PC out of the window?'' I asked hesistantly
''Yes and No, It depends on what exactly do you mean by PC.''
''Yyyyyy....'' I looked at him with confusion
'' Yes, it is true. It was my PC. Apart from being called PC, this black furry cat is also a master of annoying busy people. Do not worry he is fine. Actually after a few weeks I realised that he is messing with me intentionally just to be thrown out of the window again and have some fun.''
''That's cool.'' I said
''Ok. I gotta go. Have fun!'' He grabbed his backpack and went out.
Robert also brought some of the most awesome games I've ever played. I was fascinated so much that my dad had to switch off electricity in order to pull me away from the computer.
The power supply unit was so hot after one of my gaming marathons, that it melted a little bit of plastic on one of the datasette buttons when my father was putting it back to the box.

If you're like me and only here for those satisfying clicking sounds : Keyboard Typing : 5:20 - 7:50 | 18:46 - 20:24 (Sounds kind of woody; Similar to bamboo windchimes. Slightly hollow, very light noises) Cassette Buttons : 9:24 - 10:09 (Very plastic-y sounds. Some sound hollow and others sound more solid. Definitely a deeper sound than the keyboard, though) Joystick 11:27 - 11:56 (Solid Light clickies with slight reverb. My personal favorite.. Wish it had a bigger part in the video)

I'm glad that you at least knew that an apostrophe is supposed to go before the 8... now maybe you could make the jump to realizing that it's wrong to put one after the 0... it's never correct to use an apostrophe to make the plural. Indeed in '80s it's used for abbreviation.

Shepherd yeah it’s Wild. I personally love unpackaging videos but there’s often styrofoam which makes it tricky cause the sounds are mixed in. People make videos with styrofoam as a main trigger and that’s great. I don’t listen to those. I was just personally happy to see that the unboxing focuses more on the box and the item

it was a very popular computer in the 80's. it had 64k of RAM which made it great for programming and gaming. it was the ideal machine for coding in basic, it was a replacement for pascal until DOS came out and eventually the GUI which was the winner for computer interfacing. it may have been invented in the 70's but it's one of the most important things of a computer today even if it is a little patronizing #MSBob
This, this video right here has given me the feelings for vintage computer. I was born in the late 90s, but I don't know why I feel like I have to own a C64 - a computer from the early 80s - which I have never seen before let alone my childhood. 2 years ago, after discovered this video, I set out to hunt for a used, working C64 on Ebay. I didn't think much at all, just placed a bet, and won it, and paid the money, and now, 2 years later, I'm a vintage computer enthusiast, never felt this happy to surround myself with old but very innovative (at their time) pieces of technology. Thank you ASMRSurge for inspiring me!
Unboxing 1985 ! My first Computer .Nice reminder, thanks ! Perfect Audio & Video.
you really got the writing skills going there👍
could you do a video where you trace things with your finger?
I've not seen your videos before. Beyond the great tingles I love the effort that goes into shooting and editing to make it not only relaxing, but visually interesting :) great stuff, subbed
Looking at the description, I can tell you're really good at writing. I appreciate the storytelling skill there :)
Nostalgia AND asmr in one?
Top quality sounds
Great video! I always like the sounds of fingers running across boxes.
I really like this videos format! Keep up the great work!
I used to play games on this bad boy! :D
amazing to think this is so recent and yet, today a 2017 fingernail-sized chip can do 100x more.
Absolutely brilliant, big Commodore fan, they don't package as good as that anymore, unboxing when new was like asmr heaven before i knew what it was.
Maniac Mansion was one of my absolute favorites!! Great content as always, keep up the quality work.

I like the story in description, reading it during the video is like an asmr story for getting asleep👍😴
“A Commodore ages like fine wine, it gets more discolored by the decade” -Some guy in a trench coat and fedora that I saw on KZread once... Also I’ve never had fine wine so I don’t know if that’s true or not... lol
What the hell I was just reading about Commodore Perry..

You should do asmr with water
Running your hands over the keyboard wrapped in plastic made a really nice sound 👍. Your videos and editing is far and away the best I’ve seen 💕.
Anyone else already gets tingles/shivers just by seeing ASMRSurge thumbnail? Damn. Thank you Surge!!! 😂❤👑🙌
