Love to jam with him I like how he can do so much with simple guitar rhythms, like you don't have to be virtuoso guitar player to jam with carey yet his drumming is virtuoso it's what makes tool unique.

I love watching him play. It is all about the music.......As I was watching this three part interview I kept thinking of other drummers like Tommy of CRÜE, while many are great drummers, they are all about self and image. I truly appreciate how grounded Carey is when he performs and in general. I think that comes across in his sound.

@@Chickenparmm the fact that he loops through different time signatures that disentangle into golden ratios. something that gets researched in india since the beginning of music in ragam, tanam, pallavi, tanam, etc. when they calculate subjective stages of listening experiences with science it's called METAPHYSICS. same goes for other artforms where you calculate aesthetics like photography, film, painting etc. the exact opposite would be grunge where the lazy lyric writing, the simplicity of sound and randomness combined with the countercultural zeitgeist (beeing against perfect pop music) creates the genre, freedom and feel we like about it.

I agree TheArmush...Ive played guitar for 18 years now, and drums for 2,and I have always loved great musicians who keep themselves in check and dont let thier heads get to big.He is the best example as far as drummers, and yet he seems to be the nicest, most humble guy in the world. That says a lot about the kind of charactor it takes to get to where he is...My guitar teacher told me in my 1st lesson"No matter how good u get, there will always be some 10yo kid who can play circles around you"
