    The camping areas always look a bit sad when they are so empty during mid week in winter. This campsite is a great, well presented site with excellent facilities in the centre of the country park. We had the pleasure of your company too, which we really enjoyed. Thank you for your generosity when answering all our technical questions about vlogging and to Jenny for researching and preparing all the itinerary options for our forthcoming European trip in September. Safe travels and see you again soon 😃👍🏻🚐🚐 Trev n Sue

    We love Poolsbrook…a nice straight run down from just outside Durham with our caravan. We were actually on pitch 44 in November, although it looks as if they’ve upgraded the taps on the serviced pitches. We took the electric hire bikes out and went down along the canal…great walks nearby and also a good day out at Hardwick Hall National Trust. Enjoy your next location….Helen & Mark xx

    We stayed there last year. It’s a great location to break our journey when we head south and it’s excellent for our three dogs. The walk along the disused railway line to Morrison’s in Staveley is good if the weather is fine. Thanks as always for sharing an interesting video.

And what a difference a few days make site is almost full today only a couple of spaces available compared to your visit last week .👍 best wishes Mark & Hazel

    Stayed here two years ago - Enjoyed our stay although Staveley isn't the prettiest of places. Bolsover castle is worth a visit and we where grateful for the extra push of the electric bikes to get up the hill. There is a bus stop right outside the site with a good connection to Chesterfield.

    Looks a nice campsite, thought it would have been busier too, strange at the moment as they seem to be either quiet or fairly busy randomly. We are planning to visit the area later in the year so great to see some ideas on places to stay. (Thank you) Looked like a decent selection of books and things, always nice to have a look at the local area. Very practical hat too - I got one similar as a stocking filler at Christmas and it came in very handy so far. Always great to see you guys and Trev n Sue, Hope you have had (or having) a great stay, All the best, David & Rachel 👍

    They certainly look nicer and more spread out than Australian CPs. Everybody's crammed into ones here and with every man and his dog parking their Landcruiser 200 or Dodge RAM tow vehicle on site makes it worse. Are caravan awnings and roof top air conditioners not common or popular on British caravans?

  • @BobEarnshawMoHo

    @BobEarnshawMoHo

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you, that doesn't sound relaxing at all. It's the middle of winter here with temperatures barely above 5°C, but some hardy souls put awnings up in winter. I would say that there's not the need for air conditioning in the UK. We probably have a few days a year with temperatures above the 30°C mark.

    @@BobEarnshawMoHo Right now I think I'd happily swap weather. We're getting 38°C by day and 31°C by night. We're hoping to do a motorhome tour of England, Wales and Scotland later in the year. I realise though that you don't go to the UK for the weather. Is it easy enough to find campgrounds and caravan parks close to London and historic areas (Stonehenge, old castles etc.)? We're paying the equivalent of £0.96/litre for fuel. No doubt we will get a shock with British fuel prices.

    The easy access to the large Country Park for walks, the open feel as Poppy is scared of items dropping from trees, the location as there is lots to do in the area: Hardwick Hall, Great British Car Journey, Tramway Museum and the Peak District towns such as Matlock Bath. The site is clean with good facilities. It looked empty because it wasn't very busy as it was early February.

    What bleak places UK campsites seem to be. Gravel and tarmac car parks with little bits of grass inbetween. Why do you put up with this? In Europe they have hedges between pitches for privicy and grass to park on thats nice to step on. There must be better places than this to camp at?

  • @BobEarnshawMoHo

    @BobEarnshawMoHo

    Жыл бұрын

    We really enjoyed our stay here. You have to realise this was a former coal mine and it's an amazing transformation. Caravan and Motorhome Club Sites don't tend to have hedges but other sites do. Also, while we do have many campsites with grass pitches, this time of year they would quickly be turned into ploughed fields if motorhomes parked on them.
