Your situation, your perspective, I see is very different and I understand a bit why from what you write. As for your son, yea you are right, there are many physically demanding sports that are not as dangerous when it comes to possible injury . I did martial arts growing up but our Sensei was very good at keeping beginners safe. He also always told us everything is for defense and so on, if he heard anyone would misbehave he said he would kick us from class. But this was outside of school, dont know what to tell you about the school system Im not even from the US. I do believe however that kids do need sports, to burn some energy in a productive way. They can grow physically and spiritually, sport can teach many things.

@Gui MV its a circle, if I always sleep long I feel rly tired and without energy, if I kick myself in the ass by eating better, smoking less and just standing up after 6-7 hours, its strange, but I feel better at the end of the day, but it takes time, you have to get out of this habit, working out every day for instance in the morning, really helps, you will feel stronger just after 1month and it will get easier with every day

@@ubuyashi735 let's say you want to get 10 reps in on a bench press; you're going to stop at 10 no matter if its hard or if it's easy. You're not pushing yourself as hard as you can by setting limitations like that. Instead keep hitting it until it hurts THEN start counting. Because then you're pushing yourself to get to that 10. That's how you see progress and that's how you really push yourself

He is, but not being born in the US he also grew up in a much healthier economy that didn't punish poor people and had social safety nets (wether he acknowledges them or not) so he COULD throw everything into his dreams. Some of his advice here would be incredibly damaging for someone growing up in the current US system.

Whenever I feel down and low I always listen this speech. It encourage me to don’t give up and keep going just keep going.

Best motivational speech ever! What makes it so special is the ease in his delivery. He changes your thinking without you even realizing it. Motivation meets Meditation.

Youngest Mr Universe, famous actor, soldier and motivational speaker. This man is a true inspiration.

The sleep thing is the only thing to disagree with here, some people naturally need to sleep more, depends on your body, work and age. Especially teens need to sleep more because thier rapidly growing. You need to plan around that.

My dream of writing was derailed when a few things happened all at once, my mom got ALS, no family, my gf left me while she was dying, work changed for me, etc etc. Here I am a while later, trying to motivate myself to pick up where I left off and hopefully get it done this time. Thank you, Arnold, for such an amazing motivational speech.

For the first time in my entire life, I find myself on the website of the local gym... how weird.

This is pure gold, Arnold conveying his powerful story and brilliant ideas full of inspiration that help me to feel that I can make it, thank you so much.

i met someone at the gym a few hours ago that helped me through a workout ( i am still a beginner) he said he saw his self in me since he was also overweight and basically the same as me, he told me to watch this video and remember it, I hope i'll see him again tomorrow or any other day in the future, i didnt thank him enough.

It just means he was a ball hog who was stripping the chance for success from the rest of the team. These videos are good motivation, and I really do love most of the talking points, but it is definitely one sided and we as a civilization are not there yet for everyone to succeed... even if they keep picking themselves up. In these speeches, the sample size of all motivational speakers is "rich and famous only." I'm sure things seem like they can be done just with hard work. The truth is, it requires the help from others (team work) as Arnold argues with "the self made man" speech... risk taking, and a strong hint of both charisma and luck. Although the more chances you take, you can counter what we assume is luck. The harder you work on image and building character, you can become charismatic.

When we were kids, my brother and I went for the first time to a SKATING RINK. He was about 9 years old then, and I was 6. I don't remember much about my own skating, just the challenge of standing upright, and getting up after falling. The memory that still comes back is watching my brother make his way around the rink that first time, every time I glanced back to see how he was doing. He would travel about ten feet... and fall. He would get up, and haltingly skate another few feet... and fall... Get up again... slide along the ice another few feet... and FALL... He kept skating, falling, climbing up again and again and again... *_THROUGHOUT that first circuit, HE NEVER STOPPED GRINNING!!! He was having such a great time._* He approached Everything he loved with that same unquenchable joy. Ended up becoming an amazing Guitarist and painted scores of gorgeous Landscapes and hundreds of pen and ink wildlife sketches, and rode a big Honda 750 Chopper that he covered with paintings of hobbits and Wizards and Dragons and Elves and Orcs and Dwarves.

I watch this every so often to remind myself that I can always do better, and I have finally got to a stage in my life where I am confident enough to push myself and go for things and know that I can achieve. You can do what is easy, or you can do what is meaningful. If you always do what is easy, you will have an existence that you have no control of, but if you do what is meaningful, you will have a life you want and are in the driving seat of. Thank you, Arnold. You helped me to be the man I always needed to be.
