So yes, Francis did a big bet on himself, probably earned a little bit more than he would get in his previous company, but he has no future deal thats sustainable - no MMA until (at best) end of 2024, no boxing promotion being signed to = signing to another one-off deal? You can argue, but even the best one-offs are not sustainable, it's pretty much always a loss, flip that 20D dice (with 19 faces saying LOSS) a few times, and I'm sure you will understand my point. 20D is generous for real life metaphor, tho :D

but you’re missing the point ariel made, that saudis are putting the money, and dont play by the norm rules so francis doesnt need a promoter. the saudis will put up the money even if the event bombs. on the flip side, apart from wilder, there are no fights in the hw division as one off events, so money wise its on a par with ufc for francis. he makes the same money albeit in lesser fights, but his legacy in the ufc suffers. not to mention if he loses to a ruiz, he has a problem. Ariel is that guy who needs to be right so badly that he starts fights and ruins relationships by purposefully misinterpreting his friends past statements.

Ariel wanted the UFC to lose MONEY but Dana was wise when he let Ngannou go instead of giving in to what he demanded even though he wasnt really selling PPVs. Chael was right. The promotion lost a LOT of money. Francis had his payday but he didn't really MAKE any money for the promotion. What chael is saying is right. Francis is a big fight. The problem is without having a contract promoters wont put francis in a position to win a belt. So logically theres no reason to do it unless theres a cash grab with no belts, but most boxing promotions historically havent made money. So how can there be a cash grab while losing money. Chael is going back to the who, what, why, where and when. Who is obviously a champion which wont happen unless the belts not on the line. What is which sport. Why, well it obviously cant be for a belt without a contract. Where is easy, anywhere. When definitely matters because they just tried to sell a fight during (free telecast) college football season.

I heard about this vs a few days ago. Tried to ignore it, but man, the “world” keeps talking about this altercation 😆. This is entertaining as ever tho. Ratings must go up!! This is solid content.

Chael was right. the ppv sold 75,000 at $80 a peice which is a total of 6 mil. Francis got paid 10 mil Fury got paid 50 mil, and the Saudis lost an ungodly amount of money. The rematch may do well except that francis is under contract with pfl and has already said his next fight will be mma. I honestly have no clue why Ariel is taking this position.

Ariel Is the only one claiming that it did 400,000 and he's only doing it because he wants to create the narrative that Dana missed out on good business. But even at 400,000 buys, they still wouldn't have made enough to cover fury"s paycheck, let alone give him and Francis bonus money.

I've been watching Chael for a long time. His biggest fault is that he always tows the company line. Makes it hard to watch sometimes. He's happy to make excuses for fighter pay or support the UFC/MacGregor over USADA. You will never see him disagree with Dana. So it's good to see him called out for it.

The way Ariel talks to chael is astonishing. For a dude whose 160 lbs soaking wet, he smug look should be getting him slapped upside the head.

Ariel doesn’t understand that although Francis was paid his guarantee, the company that paid him lost money and the ppv bombed. This means Francis got nowhere near $10 million in ppv and the company will be hesitant to lose money on another event like this. Knowing this, other promoters (the real promoters in the sport) will also be hesitant to spend money promoting Francis knowing the previous promoters lost money. He wants to say, “Francis stuck it to the man, he made a bunch of money” and ignore all the facts.

Why do you assume that pay per view is the only way an event makes money? Sponsors don't care how many people bought the event they care about how many watched the event. The sponsors don't pay hundreds of thousands for a tiny spot on the canvas of the ring out of charity.

Charl lost this argument so many times over and over again. He showed he is a liar but called Ariel a liar, then gets and when Ariel calls him a liar. Also he showed denial beyond belief. His loyalty to Dana white and espn is admirable but Francis did win and gone win even bigger next 3-5 fights in boxing cus Ariel is right he won’t have to sign 3 fight boxing deal or go by their rules he gone go by gimik promotion and Francis rules cus the prince and boxing world needs him. Heavyweight contender and boxing was not doing great.

50 minutes really flew by. They need to do this again at some point

To say that you know more than Chael how about any sport let alone a combat related sport is absolute blast for me and it kind of makes people right when they say things about you bud I used to defend you now I’m starting to see why people don’t really care for you

This was entertaining as hell. We need a Chael segment on every show, i wouldnt miss a single second.
