Still watching all of them in 2024

I worked in a similar type department store back in the 1970’s. This show is so true to life. Perhaps one of the greatest comedies ever made!

My late mother worked in a similar store before WWII in Australia. She said their floorwalker was just like Capt. Peacock. She loved this show too!

AYBS was hysterical! Watching reruns still 2023! No nasty language just good adult comedic innuendos. Benny Hill was awesome too! Love the way Mr Lucas would answer the phone lol.

In the 80s back in CA, USA I always look forward to these replays from PBS. Clever show. Entertained to the max. How I wish they make shows again this good.

Who else watches these episodes, primarily to see what color Mrs. Slocombe's hair will be? Today's color, I'd call 'Midnight Mulberry'.

@@oldtrooper6325 Old…this is when we can see they were pioneers in the field of comedy…PC invaded all manner of entertainment in the late 80s or even sooner, so we couldn’t laugh anymore, instead had to judge as intellectuals like philosophers instead of enjoying ourselves! I tried a few minutes of their sequel, but all the joy was gone; they were the same, but they couldn’t replicate their uniqueness from the original!

Ms. Brahms was stacked!!!

"You know, as I look back over the years, they all seem to have passed very quickly. But I shall always have very happy recollections of you all. And all that I can really say now, is thank you." - Mr. Earnest Granger/Arthur Brough, 1974. That speech Mr. Granger gives, short as it may be, essentially sums up my own feelings on how grateful I am for this series. The comedy and lightheartedness has helped bring me out of some slumps in my life so this show was a much needed lifeline. It's such a pity that none of the actors in this show are around for me to thank them in person. I would like to mirror Mr. Granger's speech back to this wonderful cast for the years of laughter and joy they've brought me and my family.

I agree entirely. Arthur Brough's wiki entry is worth reading. He was an actor, producer, director, and theatre founder for more than 50 years. He died just 2 months after his wife of nearly 50 years died.

You know I feel the same way about this show I was young when I watched this show I'm 66 now and still watch the reruns. It seems funny that all are gone. But thank goodness for TV.

@@russellcollier8202 it has not gotten any better. Other series you are lucky to even get clips, such as Moone Boy and Vicar of Dibley, Keeping Up Appearances, etc. So I guess I should be thankful for having the episodes of AYBS that we do have here. If it helps, they do have quite a few Australian versions of AYBS on YT as well. Has John Inman reprising his role, with all new cast, but same characters. Almost line for line the same thing, except for Australian slang and names of places. I do prefer the originals though without a doubt. And at least one free AYBS movie for free on YT as well. But they reuse a lot of the same jokes and I do not find it as funny as the series.

This show should come back on the air for the young generation to watch ..it is a classic…the cast is absolutely incredible …thank you for sharing….

This episode, The Clock, and Dear Sexy Knickers are my favorite episodes. Also, love the one in which Mrs. Slocombe almost marries the Greek banjo player.

Kate…I know I left another comment, but the episode where Humphries tries on the robes and goes into Ninja mode with the Asian robe was truly hilarious (scaring the customer) - every episode has something special.

I love Mr. Mash’s introductions, the Duchess of Slocum and especially Captain Peacock’s. Comedy gold.

Wendy Richard is exceptionally beautiful here. Almost makes one forget she died in 2009. So sad.

I love when Mrs. Slocombe tried to say "trip the light fantastic" LOL 😆

Interesting observation here…this episode is from 1973, and Mr Grace informs Mr Grainger that in five years he will be getting a cuckoo clock. And in 1978, the actor (Arthur Brough) passed away.

I have alway's loved this show i can watch them over and over. Gives me a warm feeling inside like a big hug when i think about watching these year's ago with my parent's when they were still alive and i was just a kid.

Miss Brahms was so 🔥, definitely my favorite reason for watching

That is sad to think about 😢 the whole main cast is gone. Last I read, the actor who played Mr. Spooner is still alive, & so is the actress who played Miss Belfridge & the actress who played the canteen mangeress is still alive too.

I always liked Mr. Grainger and how he hated Mrs. Slocumb

Thirty some years ago i had an old friend who use to enjoy this show...I couldn't figure out why...Now thirty years later i can see why.

I always love AYBS's one-sided tables, no matter how many people are sitting at it.

After all those years of service, they all belly-up, in their Sunday's best, and give him a combination, shoehorn and back scratcher? lol that's hilarious!!! He could win that at the carny. Well, at least there's the canned champagne to dull the pain of utter and complete disappointment of Mr. Grace stealing his coo-coo clock.

I never heard or seen this show until my husband and I watched it. I've never laughed so hard. The cast was extremely funny. I especially loved Mr. Humphrey and Mrs. Slocum. 😂 They will all be truly missed.

I will always say it u can't beat British comedy it's the best and so sad,the r all gone God bless them

Once more great script, great cast, great direction and wonderfully nuts prop Dept.: Pussyboots!!

This show was put together so well even spoke of the group New Seekers. RIP Judith Durham 2022. May your music live on from generation to generation.

American department stores were very structured like this well into the 1970's. They even had official store songs they sung before opening.

I am from the USA. I grew up in the 70's. I can say, "No Dept store in the suburbs or Center City SUNG" before the store openings. If Any Walmart does "Sing" the song goes like this "More money please, I can't make ends meat on minimum wage $7.40 per hour." "Love the state of art time-clock you spent $1Million store wide on so us minions can be micro-managed. I don't recall floor walkers here in the USA. Maybe I just never took notice. These writers and cast clicked. Every episode shows when this occurs you've got Gold!

Aw such a nice episode Mr Lucas was such a great character, what made him great as you see in this episode is his chemistry with both Miss Brahms and Mr Humphries after he left it just didn't seem right .

I love how his name is officially Young Mr Grace in the cast list. Sucking up to the owner of the company is part of their job description lol

Young Mr. Grace reminds me of the Lawyer in The Aristocats.

I remember Me and My Mom Watched this Show every Saturday Night on My Local PBS Station, GBH 2. I also remember having 2 DVDs of the Show as well

I love how the sales demos always malfunction.

Donald Hawkes according to one documentary, the show was planning to bring Mr. Grainger back but he sadly passed away.

In fact, in 1988, at a shoe store in Berkeley, California, I attempted to attract the attention of an assistant. He was a Vietnamese American. Took offence and told me, "in this country we don't click thumb and finger." I became alert thereafter.

I love the outrageous mechanical sales displays. As a child, watching this, the rest seemed boring. The humor was over my preteen head

Judging by their reactions, I don't think Frank Thornton and Mollie Sugden were told what was going to happen with the advertising display!
