Are statins good or bad? There is no doubt that statins can be dangerous and cause harm in some people. However, does the benefit outweigh the risks?
Ultimately, every individual needs to have an informed discussion with their doctor about statin risks, and ask for evidence they work for your age , gender and medical history.
Statins do lower cholesterol, but newer science now indicate that the size and health of your cholesterol is important not just the absolute amount in your blood.
Another important consideration is that cholesterol is one of the most important molecules in the body - without it, we would not be able to function.

The Heart Disease Code channel is educational content to help people make diet and lifestyle adjustments to support people in reducing their risk of heart attacks, strokes, myocardial infection and coronary artery disease. Millions of people die each year from heart disease as it is still the leading cause of death. Although medication like statins can be helpful for some people, taking preventative steps to help the body stay healthy is important. We also discuss topics such as high triglycerides, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity which are all risk factors for heart disease.

I’m on a statin. My arm and legs muscles are like a concentration camp victim. My memory has deteriorated, and I have severe pain in my right shoulder. To make matters worse, depression and ED! I have taken the decision to stop taking it in a few weeks! I will take my chances and hope to return to normal again

This video just solidified the information that I have gathered over the years not to ever take statin drugs. I am so convinced that all statins are nothing but poison to the body. We all know it and how i wish that my own personal doctor will listen to this video and stop trying to convince me to take the drug which i will never take. I refused to take it since 25 years ago and I am convinced I made the right choice not to take it. As you stated that it is the quality of one’s cholesterol that matters (I totally agree), and if I may add that it is also the particle size that matters. … just my personal opinion. Thank you for this video. I do appreciate it.

I am 64yrs old. And currently not taking any medication. I eat everything in moderation and nothing to excess. I am 6 ‘ tall, weighing in at 90kg and my cholesterol HDL is 6. I train 5 times a week most weeks both cycling and weights and can ride 20 miles in 1 hour. My heart rate is around 46 at rest. I have my bloods done every year and they seem normal. I went for a my yearly check up and the nurse said I needed to loose weight. I am a solid unit. I ignored the advice. I then subsequently received a phone call from my GP offering me statins I was 14.5 like to die and she wanted me to be a 10. Talk about high pressure sales. So I went through my numbers and said “why would I need to do that when I am as fit as an Ox. The call ended with her saying to contact the surgery if I ever changed my mind. I’m still here nearly 5 yrs later doing my thing. By the way I didn’t take the jabby thing either🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Thank the Lord, for all these truthful doctors that warn of many dangers. I am 58 and am in good health. I never drank alcohol. Exercise moderately, walking up hills only for 30 min. Some strength training. I also don't take any meds. I never even had a headache, thankfully. My worst thing was drinking coffee but I quit now. Not eating sugar now, but a little honey. I wonder since I have some how escaped the drug industry if that's why I am healthy. My heart rate is 58 laying down. I feel terrible for those suffering with side affects from drugs.i didn't take the jib jab either. So sad where I went to college UCCS a girl only 23, just suddenly died last week while working out at the school gym. I was 47-50 when I ran in the treadmill, never had any issues with my heart. Poor poor girl. She was major in nursing too. What a shame that no one protected her.

My brother had a heart attack at 43. He was a heavy smoker. After his stent, he quit smoking. They put him on statins immediately and he took them for 30 years. At 73 he became quite breathless doing normal yard work. He had not seen a cardiologist in 10 years, just family physician who kept his meds current. Luckily, he made an appointment. His stent was like 98% blocked- tremendous calcification. He had the less evasive open heart surgery where they go in through the back. He is doing better but not back to full health. My question is this- did the statins give him 30 good years or did the statins,in stabilizing plaque, cause the calcification to create the 98% blockage? It is a known fact that use of statins increases CAC score. Are we damned if we do or damned if we don’t?

I’m so glad I found this channel! After getting my cholesterol labs with a new doctor, it was high as usual. She tried to immediately put me on statins based upon LDL, and as always, I refused. She was shocked at my refusal and asked me why, and if I had read something. I stumbled trying to explain to her that I didn’t feel my higher cholesterol was an issue, especially since my HDL is always high in the 90s and my Trigs are low. But I did not know how to explain it to her. I decided to look for articles that would help me explain my beliefs on cholesterol and statins. I am going to print out the free e-book and take it to her next time I go.

That sounds like an Endocrinologist I consulted for thyroid function 2 yrs ago - he also looked at my cholesterol levels, and firmly urged me to start taking Statins - I told him that I had read about them didn’t ever want to take them. That resistance brought out his unbalanced Scottish temper via passive aggression! He tried scare tactics “ You could have a stroke !” The air was tense. I took the script but never took it to the pharmacy. Never went back to see him, and he never followed up. I = a difficult patient 😂 So pleased about both decisions now

I am praying that these drugs will be removed from the pharmaceutical market in my lifetime but that is a Pipe dream. They bring in billions of dollars and that is what this is all about . $$$$$ . We in the USA take 50% of all medications made and we are the sickest of the sick. Yes, they do cause diabetes and breast cancer. They work on different pathways in women than men. Women should absolutely never take them for sure . Doctors scare people into taking these drugs . I have seen this many times. They become angry when people refuse. I have seen progressive Dementia in people that I know .

I was diagnosed with Fatty Liver high Cholestral. Luckily I had already read up on Statins long before diagnosis dr didn’t break it down into HDL Trigs or LDL. Just overall 6.2. Now I am also a genetic Bullous Emphesema patient, chronic with heart failure. Therefore on Oxygen Therapy. Now, I discover that people with Empysema and other COPDs have higher Cholestral levels. Also that Statins can aggravate lung disorders, cause mental issues and Alzheimer’s disease along with all the other problems. Honestly. Don’t I have enough issues? Now they are loading me with taking that final luxury off me of eating a normal healthy diet. Gosh. Almost hoping I succumb to my Emphysema sooner as I have been fighting it to live a somewhat normal life. What for? huh! No. I won’t take STATINS. No I am not diabetic.

Having to hold on to furniture just to walk through my house. Kidney and liver issues. Horrific medication so without permission of MD I took myself off just 5 days ago and a huge improvement in my memory and . walking ability. Kidney and liver issues still on the agenda. I have been taking 300 mcg several years now and slowly I can be more and more active. My heart was also skipping beats sometimes one for every two beats. Now, it is steady. Most everyone has both damaged & undamaged LDL, the damage caused by inflammation and the like. Statins reduce the amount of undamaged LDL and don’t do anything about the damaged LDL. Patients therefore have a false sense of better health.

I have been vegan for 10 years and though my total Lipid panel did come down, I decided to start doing 10,000 Steps which is a walking daily challenge. 10K Steps equals approximately 4.4 miles. But the sweet spot for weight loss for me I’ve found is 5+ miles. Since I had my last bloodwork done, I have been doing this walking for 6 months. I’ve also brought my weight down to a normal BMi so I went from 155 lbs. to 125 lbs. All my Lipid panel numbers are perfect, ideal in fact. Our health should be in our own hands primarily. So many people go carnivore or Keto. I worked it the other way, looking at who lives the longest and how they eat. That is why I chose Vegan over other diets. And the combination of the walking with the low-fat Vegan diet has worked well for me, I feel well and I am wearing the size clothes I wore in high school, size 7/8. When I first turned Vegan, I was 200 lbs. It took me a few months to get down to 144 lbs. Then I broke my ankle and had to stop my walks. The ankle took longer to heal and had to have Physical Therapy. Put on more weight over Covid, when up to 165 lbs. Got that down getting the junk out of my diet, and got down only 10 lbs. Went back to walking. I am 70 and the walking is brisk but never running as I have a lower back injury from when I was 40 and a disintegrating disk. Running is out, but walking is good for my back. Started Physical Therapy for my back. The trio of diet, walking and doing daily indoor home exercises has made me feel great.

I actually had my PCP ask why I was taking Vit K thus I also take every nutrients in this video because I have had to self educate because I was trained by my pharmacist father from '30's with Question Everything. Have your physician prove the why. Nutrition is best without pharmaceuticals is best policy with labs run every six months because prevention is BEST 💪

Maybe this will help someone. They first started measuring cholesterol when i was 37 and it was about 237 which was considered normal then. Every year it was the same and then in my early 50s they said 237 was high (pharma reduced the safe numbers, more sales) every 10 years they reduce it 50 points. I think it is now 120? Anyway I am still 235 to 50. 77 yo and still take no statins. Healthy. My doc leaves me alone about it. My choice. Point being in 1980s it was normal but now its considered high. Suspicious that pharma keep lowering the safe numbers. Also when they started the HDL, LDL stuff my good C is high. Whatever that means. I do believe you have to do your research and br wary of meds. A med has to be out for about 12 years before they start seeing all the bad side effects and it is too late for some.

When I was 70 I received yearly requests from my GP to have cholesterol checks. Every year until I was 74 the GP requested cholesterol checks and each time, my cholesterol was perfect. I then asked the GP why are you pushing me to take statins. His reply was my age. He mentioned no possible side effects. I agreed and thankfully a trusted pharmacist said I should read the data before I start taking them. One of the few honest people around! I don't think my LDL being 86 justifies being on a statin. 3 months ago my LDL was 69. We can do your muscles though and damages other parts of your body so the only people benefiting are the pharmaceutical people who manufactures these drugs and also they’re the biggest contributor to medical hospitals teaching another brainwashing sources.

Yes I can imagine that, it is quite normal unfortunately. Drs assistants can be even worse. Someone once asked me if I thought all drs were corrupt. I thought for a long time and said no, although I was far from sure. Then I had an experience within my tiny circle of friends that at least partly answered the question. I was eating with 4 friends and one commented that she had been asked to help an elderly friend who could not reach her bed. Waste bags full of statins turned out to be the problem. Then I admitted that I had cupboards full. Then the first lady said that she also had stopped and finally the third person was also building up a substantial Statin collection. So that was 4 out of 5 people had stopped taking Statins. 4 different families and 4 different doctors. None had dared to tell their doctors, so perhaps many doctors just do not know the extent and severity of the side effects? I did tell my doctor eventually that I had stopped, that was a mistake!

Don’t tell your doctor you have stopped them. However is best to change your doctor. Get a copy of your blood work yourself and do some Research your self. I told my cardiologist that I had stopped statin’s due to controversy of the drugs he was fine with that. However in my case I have altered my diet to get reasonable HDL/HDL. my family does have a history of heart issues and have 90 year old relative that has taken statin’s for 40 year she is the only one alive the other lasted to 55 to 67 years old. One thing for sure the professionals for every one doctor that says good you will find one doctor says bad . So in the end it’s up to you. But be careful your own doctor may have a very good reason to keep you on statin’s. EG you told him all your family dies young from heart disease. Or your race is particularly venerable to heart issues. Black/White/Spanish/Japanese//Chinese all have the doctors working overtime as each race of the has different issues. What is safe for one person may not be safe for another. Example Women from Papua New Guinea can survive on extremely low iron levels, Where in the western world a European woman would be put on blood transfusions
