@drekberg Arsenic is natural too, but most of us would know that Arsenic is Poison . . . I guess we ought to think of Refined Sugar as Poison, too. My husband pointed at me when you said Withdrawls, LOL . . . Yes, my name is Tammy, and I am a Sugar Addict, and I have replaced a lot of my sugar with Erythritol products like Swerve Confectioner for baking and Swerve Brown for sweetening my hot tea. Lily's is my go-to for sugar-free Milk Chocolate morsels. But I am not sure if this is the best plan, because it still gives me the sweet pleasure . . . Then when I am around Mom, she has ice cream in sugar cones called drumsticks, and I eat 4-5 within 3 days . . . So I know I am on a sugar roller coaster, so like you said, the addiction mimics heroine addiction, and I keep riding the roller coaster. But since I quit using most white sugar in 2020, and I don't eat honey, agave, syrup, molasses, brown sugar, no fruit except strawberries, cut out bread, rarely eat potatoes, and only use bacon grease/lard or olive oil for cooking (no seed oil), I was able to stop using Naproxen anti-inflammatory and my A1C went from 6.0 to 5.3 in 2021. My doctor put me on a prescription of Naproxen for Plantar Fasciitis in 2017 after another car hit my car, and I thought the foot pain would never leave. But after I stopped eating sugar, starch and seed oils in 2021, I have no joint pain since stopping the seed oils and Wheat, and no Pre-Diabetes anymore since late 2020 after cutting out sugar in June 2020 when I turned 50 years old, and that was my milestone that I have to get serious for my health. Now I feel better than I have for years, and if I eat high carb for a few days, I feel the difference within 24-48 hours, pain comes back in my joints and I get a little sick to my stomach. Going around my family who DOES NOT eat Low Carb like my husband and I do is the hardest part. We can go out to restaurants and eat better than I do at my Mom's or Brother's family's house, so now sometimes, we pack a meal or two and eat differently than what they are eating at the same table . . . It makes a BIG difference, and seeing my family is still the BIGGEST CHALLENGE in what I see as a Life Change, NOT a 6-month diet until I hit my target weight. I have to do Low Carb until the day I die, but that's not bad, because I get a lot of bacon, cheeseburgers, snacks of cheese, steak, etc, so I am not going back to High Carb, because I like not having joint pain. And this journey all started with my husband saying, my Mom used to be a nurse and she asked me to look into whether I have Insulin Resistance, and this Dr. Sten Ekberg talks about that . . . So my first Low Carb KZread video was "3x More Deadly than CANCER and Most People Don't Know They Have It." And we did your Online Course too!! You have saved our lives and we are spreading the word. Thank you from the bottom of my now healthy heart!!

I am a 70 yr old male, who suffered from fatty liver. I had the problem for three years that i know of. Extreme Itching on my left arm every winter, and mild itching all over. Then one morning i was shocked at the colour of my urine, i checked the whites of my eyes, they were yellow. So after booking a Drs appointment, i searched youtube, and found Sten. In March of this year, i changed my diet, and my exercise, (or the lack of it) I took the cold turkey route, complete keto, no rice, pasta, sugar, potatoes or bread. No alcohol. Yes, i suffered keto flu, and thought i was in total liver failure. I developed pain to my left heel, to the point i could not put any weight on it. I also had pain in my neck and both shoulders. But, as my new found life style took hold, so the pains all vanished. I have lost 30 pounds in weight, my BP is normal and my resting heart rate is slightly above fifty BPM. Because eggs now play a large part in my daily diet, my eye sight has improved. I have Macular Degeneration to my right eye, but instead of a black hole in the middle of my sight, i now have colour. Yes, my vision is still blurred in that eye, but now far more tolerable. For years i suffered fainting type attacks just before lunchtime, but not since i cut out sugar. I no longer have to juggle exercise with meals, i get out of bed, and straight on my cross trainer for a hour. A coffee and a dog walk later, i have my 2 egg omelette breakfast, and then do a very brisk 5 mile walk. I used to have my meals at 1pm and 5pm. I now have a breakfast and dinner, but no lunch. I sleep better, and shorter. When i wake, i am up and ready to go, no laying in to try and make up for a bad nights sleep. After six months, i am now a little more relaxed with my choice of foods, i bought a loaf of bread about a week ago. It will be mouldy before i get to eat it, so i guess my bad habits have left me, and i didn't really notice. After this video, i will be adding some occasional fruit to my daily diet. If you are all wondering why i put such a large comment, then i can tell you, it is to show my gratitude to Sten for getting my death delayed, and my life back on track. Dr. Ekberg, thank you so much.

It is really hard for the first 2 to 3 weeks, but I promise you that the longer you go without sugar, ( I only eat small amounts of Blackberries, Blueberries or Raspberries, and no other fruit. I don't eat them every da either. I don't eat honey and I have to check cooked chicken slices as these can contain sugar) then the easier it will become and the better you will start to feel.

I stopped having diet cokes, potato chips, pastries and pancakes, bread, tortillas, processed foods, fast food, fruits, candy, alcohol, chocolate, rice, corn, potatoes, and of course sugar. I have been eating vegetables in the three meals, eggs in the mornings, bacon, chicken, sardines, nuts, cheese, a little milk with my coffee, olives, avocado, meat, and three liters of pure water everyday. This is my first week. I decided to do this because I started with pain in feet and legs. Pain has disappeared and I feel fantastic. I consider this not a diet, but a change of feeding for life.

When I started Keto in March 2020 the pandemic was a benefit to me in some ways. I wasn't going to holiday get togethers. There was no candy floating around the office. I could just make and eat my own food. Now 3/12 years later Thanksgiving is a breeze. I truly have no interest in eating the pies and sugary treats. I have no interest in eating all the carby side dishes. I think many of us truly do get used to it and do get to feeling completely fulfilled with the low carb lifestyle. So I hope you don't give up on the idea. You may have decided to eat sugar at Thanksgiving. You may decide to do it again at Christmas. But you don't have to do it every day in between. You don't have to wait til New Years day, Just do your best every day during the holidays. There is a very good chance if you stick with it you will stop making those decisions to eat sugar. You will feel and look so much better. Your cravings will be in the past. Next year it won't be difficult at all. BUT,nif you go low carb and then start eating all the low carb desserts and snacks you are not going to be able to get to that place where the cravings are in the past. It will be much easier and faster to get there if you don't go for the keto treats. Just eat real food simply prepared.

Thank you Dr. Sten. I cut out all sugars (including fruit and complex carbs) last April, and am here to say a big YES to the 30 days. I had already given up grains, and never ate a lot of 'sweets'. The cravings only last a few days, but after a few weeks, I started to see sugar as poison, and actually don't want any of the things that are unhealthy. No cravings, except !! when I smell bread toasting. It's just "one of those things", and no big deal. After 1 1/2 years, I feel better at age 65 than I did at 40. My post-CVD syndrome is much much better, and the bonus is that I've lost weight and now slim and trim. I also started rowing every day, thrice a day, and lifting weights. As a woman, following mainstream medical advice, I was grazing, 5 meals per day, low fat. I figured my gender and age meant I would never be more fit after menopause. Not true! Your channel is so excellent, and I love being greeted as a champion. xx from Canada

Hang in there! The best thing I ever did for my self 5 years ago was to adhere to a ketogenic diet! I lost a lot of weight(65lbs), my joint pain went away and my energy and general well being went way up. There are so many great foods you can eat that are simple to make and your taste buds really do change. I am now “ fat adapted”, so I can eat some carbs if I’m out for dinner at someone’s house or at a restaurant without it affecting me. I mostly use intermittent fasting now to reap benefits and stick to a lower carb diet. In my experience, everything Dr. Ekberg has said, is true, has been life changing for me and best of all, I’ve been able to make it a life style not just a “diet”. Be careful of all the “naysayers”! Some of my closest friends and family tried to sabotage my journey, but they all see how much healthier I am now. Good luck on your journey!👏🏻🙏🏼

People ask me if I miss sugar, and I tell them that I ate a lifetimes worth of chocolate up until I was in my 40’s. I’ve been there, and done it. I really thought swapping all my coffees with milk and sugar for green tea with stevia would leave me lethargic and struggling through each day. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I feel great. I have not stopped, from staying hours at the supermarket reading labels to watching info on line, I have completely erased sugars from my diet. I only buy foods that either help or that are borderline acceptable with sugars (-4 grams) and 6 months in, apart from having lost 25 lbs, I feel much better and I feel more energetic. Anybody can do this, all it takes is will power and focus. I don’t say that it was easy, but if you put your mind into it, you will succeed, guaranteed. Thank you

As a human being your cecum (a part of your digestive system) is not suited to make those nutrients bioavailable. It doesn't matter how many nutrients are in kale if your body isn't equipped to get it from the plant into your blood stream in a form your body can use. @@stefanflorin4240

Better than that, I've recently had my blood work done at my annual physical. Everything Dr. Ekberg says is true. I was pre-diabetic and had a fatty liver. My previous doctor never even mentioned either. I guess she thought "well, she's morbidly obese,so I won't waste my time". My new doctor brought up my charts because I'd lost so much weight, that's when I found that out. NOW, all of my blood work is beautiful, normal ranges on everything, AND, I no longer even need blood pressure medication. The only thing I take is a good quality multi-vitamin just to make sure I'm not missing any micro-nutrients. I was happy for the weight loss - feeling so much better just due to that, but I didn't know if all of the other claims would be true. they absolutely are! Thank you Dr. Ekberg. I've learned so much from you, having to resort to my own research to improve my health. We're blessed to have you to educate us.

Hello , doctor Ekberg. I quit smoking years ago (heavily addicted , 2 pack a day) . Alcohol free 2 years (not alcoholic in a major way) I fast daily - Why is the sugar such a problem ? Is it because it is the last vice/ pleasure ? I gotta get into it . Gotta man up. Wish me luck and even better strength.

Great job with transformation so far! HUGE accomplishments! The reason, if I may, you are struggling with sugar isn't will power, it's very likely gut disbiosis such that you have more "bad guys" than good in your digestive system. And the bad guys send neurotransmitters to your brain that SCREAM for sugar to keep them alive. The good guys don't live on that crap so they don't ask for it. So if you bite the bullet (again) with sugar and cut it out long enough your bad guys will be starved out to a degree that their messages for sugar no longer outweigh your good guys' messages sent to your brain for cruciferous vegetables. I kid you not! Just knuckle down on the sugar long enough and you'll shut off those incessant messages for it. Best to you!

Depends upon your health goals? If your seek loss of excess body-fat, sugar will via insulin STOP fat burning while filling your blood with so much sugar the body can not use it so it will be stored for future use, first in the liver then muscles then limbs/torso in a pattern to ensure balance and maintained mobility, the body is clever about such things. You have achieved a lot, dumping sugar will be well within your reach. Keep going. 👍

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, however, I did stop sugar altogether and am still reaping the best health benefits. I am 61 yrs now and have never been as healthy as I am now. I lost over 15 kg, and yes my taste buds have changed. I can't eat sweets now, I also noticed that white rise, white potatoes and pasta do raise my sugar level, therefore I eliminated that as well and also got good benefits. There is an issue when one goes out to restaurants, so I don't go out either. My advice to you is if you want to get into good health, listen carefully to this clip, it's exactly right what he says. Everything starts in the brain and strong will. Do yourself a favour take good care of yourself and take a practical approach. Thank you for this clip Dr. Sten

Day 1 - it was willpower and willpower alone. Days 2 and 3 - the worst emotional crash ever. I cried almost continually and was exhausted beyond belief. By day 4 - Dr. Sten Ekberg was my least favorite person on the planet. But by day 7 - the only way I can describe it is that inside my body, like my blood actually felt ‘clean.’ My gut felt ‘clean.’ It was almost euphoric. And I’m sure it wasn’t euphoria, but to me it felt that way. And at that point, I knew this is how I want to feel and how I want to take care of my body. I’m still in the 30-day challenge. I truly believe that quitting sugar and carbs cold turkey is the only way. And I am amazed how complacent I was through most of my life when it comes to the eating ‘norm.’ Stumbling upon Dr. Ekberg has been the most amazing eye-opener for me. With each video I watch, I am that more amazed at what I did not know and what all of us humans-who eat food-need to know for our health.

Dr Ekberg I just wanted to share my amazing transformation in only 4 Months. I’m a 53 year old male 6 ‘2. My Triglycerides were 1920 yes that’s correct 1920. My A1C was 12.9. My doctor recommended that I go on a statin immediately as my risk of heart attack or stroke was very high. I reluctantly agreed but I also started following your advice and went on a high fat low carb diet. I also swam for 15 minutes daily.I quit alcohol, bread, sugar and soda. After one Month my weight dropped from 248 lbs to 225 lbs. I stopped taking the statins after 1 Month as my fasting blood sugar was always in the 80’s. After 4 Months I was at 188 lbs. I returned to my doctor with my new bloodwork results. Triglycerides still a little high but now at 275. A1C at 5.4! That was 6 weeks ago. I cannot thank you enough for putting me on this path. I lost 60 lbs but more importantly I can almost keep up with my grandkids in a foot race again! My wife also joined me during this time and has had very similar result. I mostly skip breakfast and Lunch and eat chicken, wild salmon, grass fed beef farmed chicken eggs and grass fed cheese. I just do not feel the same cravings that I used to get with all of the processed junk.Looking forward to my next bloodwork in 6 weeks. Oh and I love your Euvexia Eulyte! You pretty much saved my life and I cannot thank you enough.

I LIVE this challenge every single day. I lost 130 lbs the first year and I feel so much better in too many ways to describe, I have what feels like limitless energy and my mental clarity is greatly improved. My diet consists of mainly meats and salmon, eggs, some cheeses and a few pecans. That's it, I don't need anything else. I was diabetic, my bloodwork was a wreck with triglycerides over 500 and my blood sugar was out of control, A1c was 8.8 and blood glucose was as high as 600 at one point, even with 100 units of insulin and 1,000 MG of Metformin a day it would not go below about 130. Now my A1c is 4.9, everything else is where it belongs.

"Fast Like a Girl" (which isn't just for women because men can follow the post-menopausal/no-cycle advice) has a 30-day Brain Health fasting schedule. It's hard core, though, with prolonged fasting involved so the person would have to be willing to build up to it and then be committed to a fasting lifestyle. If I had any signs of dementia I'd be on board, but I guess I can't assume everyone would be.

I stopped eating sugar and radically reduced carbohydrate intake to minimum 8 weeks ago. It was very hard at first, but after about 2 to 3 weeks all my cravings went and my desire for sugar and carbohydrate was minimal. I was then able to try the intermittent fasting and it was so amazingly easy. I just didn't feel hungry at all. I lost 25 pounds in this time, which was a really pleasant surprise for me as I have struggled to loose weight. My skin got better and my pain was reduced. But the last two days I regret eating just a little bit of dried fruit and all those old cravings have come back. Sugar is really so addictive. So I have to go cold turkey all over again!

Gave up sugar about 3 months ago. It wasn't really all that difficult to give it up, I always was pretty health-conscious in my diet. I am a 76 year young woman. The first thing I noticed, within a week, was that my skin became smoother. I have a variety of bumps on my skin, and they are slowly melting away. I have had neuropathy in my feet for the past 5 years. That has improved a lot: no longer that feeling of ants crawling around under my skin. Especially noticeable at night. I also have fewer aches and pains in my joints. I lost a few pounds, but not as significantly as others are reporting. I have a lot more energy, and that feels great. I have been pre-diabetic for about 6 years. Next month I'm due for a blood test, and I'm optimistic that my a1C will be down. I really feel that I have turned over a new leaf in my life, and can't imagine that I will ever eat any other way.

I'm for the first time the same weight as I was when in college over 30 years ago. 2. I don't get hungry much. I eat 1 main meal and can eat nuts and drink vegetable juice for the other "meal". 3. When I do get hungry, it's a very slight feeling, like "hmm, l'd like some food" not "if I don't eat, I'll die!" 4. I have no food cravings. I enjoy my food, but I don't crave anything in particular, especially sweet foods. 5. Every bit of eczema I used to suffer badly from has cleared up. 6. Osteoarthritis that plagued my right shoulder so bad that I couldn't turn a steering wheel disappeared. Instead, I can now swim 40 laps in the pool. 7. I have not fallen sick in 2 years. I tested positive for Covid last Christmas, but had almost no symptoms except for a slight scratchy throat. I went cycling the day I tested (to my surprise) positive.

Thank you Dr Ekberg, after watching your *stop sugar for 30 days challenge* video I have learned so very much from you I hope you don't mind me sharing my journey over the last few years, I'm hoping it might help at least one person or perhaps hundreds. Where to begin. Between 2010-2020 I was dx'd with HypErparathyroidism, Fibromyalgia, kidney stones, NAFLD (Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease), Sacriolitis, Appendicitis, I had a couple of TIA's + more. In 2017 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes too. In 2020 I was rushed to hospital, apparently I looked like the Michelin Man. I just wanted to sleep, I wasn't really aware of what was happening, eventually I was told that I had developed Decompensated Cirrhosis, Acute kidney injury, Ascites, Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis, Anemia and Malnutrition, oops nearly forgot Hepatorenal Syndrome! They took 7.5 litres of fluid from my stomach, I was filled full of Antibiotics, human plasma and blood transfusions etc, I had been taken off all my usual medications (filled a whole A4 size ruled paper). The withdrawal from that was terrifying! Apparently, if I hadn't got to hospital the consultant said "you probably only had 2 days to live). WHY am I telling everyone this? It's because I wish someone would have told me to take the NAFLD very seriously, no one did! If someone had said that by reducing my sugar and fat intake it could help your liver enormously, perhaps even reverse the fatty liver. Only after a phone call with a consultant (Covid, so no hospital clinics running) did I find out that already having Fatty Liver and then being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes can accelerate the 4 stages of liver disease, in my case it was straight to Decompensated Cirrhosis. It can take up to 30yrs to go from Fatty Liver to End Stage Liver Disease, me, just yrs! If anyone reading this is diagnosed as having NAFLD PLEASE do all that you can to avoid the experience I had, 3 yrs on I am still in shock! I'm still coming to terms with it all, I swing from yes, today I am going to do all the right things to get better, other times it's what's the point... I just want to thank Dr Ekberg, I haven't processed the type 2 Diabetes yet but this is the first video I have watched which explains the relationship between the sugar I am addicted to and what this addiction has done to my organs - even my skin is involved. So sorry for the length of this post, I sincerely hope it can help someone, take care for now x

i have started watching your videos about 18 months ago…i call them “lectures” it’s really amazing how you can teach us about our health and food…you’re so charming…thank you for your efforts… i kept on healthy life style for about a year and i can’t describe how my life changed…i used to mention the three titles you’re speaking about in this videos “mood, focus and energy” unfortunately i couldn’t keep going due to some sad circumstances…i live in a war zone country and we suffer the lack of healthy nutrition…there only olive oil and eggs are available here beside some leafy greens like cabbage and lettuce so it’s difficult to keep going on just those four ingredients…

Amazing ❤❤❤. I started your challenge and I have to tell you that I was weighing 200 Lbs and now my weight is 158.2 Lbs. I am 63 years old and don't feel pain like I used to. BTW, everything hurts at 63. My eyesight is much, much better and now I need a new prescription 😂. My belly fat is GONE and I'm full of energy. I do have a problem, my family continues to eat sweets and I am tormented by this still. I do not use Metformin or blood pressure medications any more. Thank you for helping me with your advice.

I've sent this video to a few of my friends. If they would only listen... You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. My vision improved after my first extended fast. I got into Keto because I experienced a hospitalized hypertensive crisis. Now, I take no meds whatsoever. Thank you! Keep spreading the word.

@@videoplaylist5973 I'm also a a big fan of fermented foods, broccoli sprouts as well as a handful of daily supplements. My vision is now 20/20 with no reading glasses, no more night time urination (BPH), and my mood is amazing! Yes, to my doctors chagrin, I have been off of my bp meds for over a year.

So weird that I thought because I work hard, I was physically fit, but now I realize at 64 that I can no longer eat what I want. I thought all the pain I was experiencing was just the result of age, but I changed up my diet and the knee pain, especially, is gone. My Achilles tendons are better and no more dizziness. People are in denial and/or think they can't change old habits. There's no question that I was going to change my habits because I got a little taste of the pain-free life after identifying the problem and dieting. I have experienced withdrawal, but kept telling myself that it's temporal.

I gave up refined sugar in April 2022. I never thought I'd lose the craving especially for chocolate but I have. There is always hope. Give it a go.
