Are Lever Arms Worth it in a Home Gym?
#garagegymtour #homegym #garagegym #homegymtour
We proudly introduce our spacious and ruggedly built Elite Series Power Cage with our logo laser cut onto the poles themselves. The types of training you can do on this rack are limitless - strength training, body weight training, resistance band training, and circuit training.
This rack is designed for those looking for a higher weight capacity or more stability during their strength training. Highlights include a more stable frame (3” x 3” upright poles), a higher gauge steel (11 gauge), and we added more accessories - 8 x Resistance Band Bars, 2 x Spotter Arms with J Hooks, 2 x Weight Plate Holders, 1 x Pull Up Bar.
The spacious, more stable frame means you can feel secure in lifting heavier without any physical restrictions. Total weight capacity is 1200 pounds. The brackets are larger and thicker, this will help keep the frame more tightly compacted without the possibility of swaying. 11 gauge steel allows you the freedom to add as much weight as you can handle and the cage will not budge.
We recommend adding larger attachments like the Lever or Jammer Arms and a Lat Pulldown, which we specifically designed for the 3” x 3” upright poles. Other attachments you can add to the rack are the Battle Rope Anchor, Vertical Barbell Storage, Horizontal Barbell Storage, J Hooks (pair), and Weight Plate Holder. Please note that accessories are not compatible with pro series power cage (HFPC-1).
Product Specifications - Overall Product Dimensions for Power Cage 82” x 59” x 49”, Pull Up Bar 42” x 1.25” diameter, Weight Plate Holders 14.75” x 2” diameter, Spotter Arms with J Hooks 46.75” x 3” x 3”, Resistance Band Bars 10.25” x 1” diameter, Bracket Plates 7.75” x 7.6” x .5”, Bolts/Screws 4.5”, and Hex Head Nuts .75” - 1”. Total product weight of 302 pounds. Total weight capacity 1200 pounds. NOTE - Ships in 4 boxes.

Good review, I own bells of steel lever arms. The 2 things I use them for are part of my warm up for Olympic lifting (a few times per week) so they work for me… but admittedly I would say most people won’t benefit from them. Something I recently learned is if you mount them inside the rack they won’t tip the unsecured rack. My BoS levers have detachable handles so it’s a little different that the ones you have

I could not agree with this video more! I'm embarrassed to say that I drank the Kool-aid. I bought the Titan ones for my Rep rack thinking that they would be a game-changer by replicating all the Hammer Strength presses, back and shrug machines. NOOOPPPPE! I was very disappointed. But because I'm so stubborn, I was determined to make them work. I brought them to the machine shop I work at to modify them, and fab up articulating handles like Rogue's. They did improve them, but still not worth it. For what they do and how they do it is just not worth how cumbersome they are to set up and trip over when not in use.

Attaching to the Ares or Athena or other cable rack system just allow for so much better versatility like seated chest supported rows. The Mikolo arms allow for pin setting like the vendetta that allows better resistance for bench chest press, strict shoulder press, shoulder shrugs etc. Add the Kaizen Attachment for dual axis, and eve some spotter arms and have a plethora of new options. I had cheap arms and quality ones and you get what you pay for.

I feel the jammer arms only really become an asset when you have the ability to keep them hooked up to your rack and not have them impeded any other movements. I have a functional trainer (The Ares) on my power rack and these arms would totally get in the way if I left them mounted. Too much of a pain in the tail to take them off and on. I have the Bulletproof Isolator (which I love), but I had to get a separate upright so I could keep it attached. I feel if it takes more than 30 seconds or so to get your equipment set up for an exercise, you probably are just not going to do it. Thanks so much for the great review.

I think the most optimum set up for lever arms is a combination of 3 seperate things: the arms themselves, the kaisen adapter that allows them to articulate, and then the vandetta strength attachment thats a trolley and allows you to set a starting point for them. The problem is they take up a lot of space and they can’t just sit on a rack with out being in the way. So I can’t use them until I move my ares to its own rack and put it permanently on the bk. Now that most teams are going the young coordinator route, and he is set in his ways and wants all the control, I can really only see him going to an older club like the Bears, Giants, DC, but having to take a year off. I bought second hand rogue lever arms. I tried making everything work, but never liked anything 100% to justify keeping it. Wasn’t worth the hassle setting anything up.

@@NoFate247 yeah I can see that. The machine I was talking about looks like the lever arms. It for you to do a push press from the standing position on an angle. The gym used it to hang bands and belts on. I used it to wrap bands on and do stretches. That and the old school neck machine are two things I never saw people using.

@@NoFate247 no I would not because the machines you mentioned were all specifically engineered for those movements. A one size fits all type of implement just can’t be that specific, and I have a feeling that the lever arms would fall by the wayside pretty quickly.

From all the videos and experiences I've seen/heard, my conclusion is that most people are disappointed and don't use them, but the ones that do absolutely love them. It's a big gamble. Personally I'll pass. If they were adjustable to horizontal position without doing chain mods, at an affordable price, then I'd jump in. As they are sold, it's just no value for me training for Hypertrophy.

To get the lever arms out of the way I put 2 hooks in the ceiling in front of my rack and leave them up there when not in use. As far as adjustments it's pretty easy to pull pins out and move them up or down. And I use my lever arms for multiple angle chest presses, ohp, rows, shrugs, calf raises, lying tricep extensions and more. Do they replace machines? No, but they do add variety which was my main reason for buying them.

I’m not saying that it doesn’t have any value at all just like I think a belt squat has a place in our community but I think that there are a fair amount of people who get lever arms who get built squats purely because they saw other people with them on social media.
