I have had this for a few months now. I bought it because I was tired of looking up at home alternatives to leg extensions, lying leg curls. This has increased the efficiency of my workouts a ton. I completely agree about the criticism of the adjustment knobs for the stabilization pads however I definitely didn’t destroy mine like that just had to take them out put that back in a few times to fix the threading. I did have some issues there though. I think you overstated the issue with having it permanently attached to the rack. I keep this on my main rack and with the attachments removed from the carriage it really doesn’t take up much space and putting on the seat, pads or handle is extremely easy to do. Storing them is another issue they do take up some space in my garage. I’m able to squat, bench press in the rack with carriage on no problem however I don’t have it mounted in the center like that but mounted to the outside of the post. I also leave the weight arm on it most of the time. I think they try to show it being a do it all product a little too much but for lying leg curls, leg extensions and preacher curls it gets the job done. I’m sure I’ll find some other uses for it but I would buy this with something in mind and not just thinking it can do it all.

Hey Steven: Once the carriage is on the upright, is it easy enough to move up and down to different hole positions?

  • @showel22

    @showel22

    Жыл бұрын

@@HeelerGSD yes and no, I believe they made it as easy as they can. It has rollers and a handle for moving up and down on a post but once you lock in the adjustment pads that stabilize it against the upright it's a matter of loosening all 4 of those and retightening each time. I had a "set it and forget it" approach with mine. It's important to lock in the stabilizing pads against the post to keep it from being unlevel while doing anything where it's holding your weight but maybe less so for the exercises you might do higher up.

@@HeelerGSD it’s pretty easy. With none of the attachments on you just loosen the for screws and pull the two pins. Slide it up or down and then put the pins back and retighten. Takes about 30-45 seconds. It’s very hard to do with any of the attachments still in. Without them it’s pretty quick.

Super innovative product! I honestly gravitate towards using it for seated leg curls, leg extensions, standing unilateral leg curls, hip thrusts, and preacher curls. Doing that alone and saving space adds a lot to anyones home gym! If you have the cash and not a ton of space, it’s worth the buy. Good breakdown Coop

I've had mine for months now, and I think this is a pretty fair review. I haven't had any problems with the knobs breaking though. I mostly use mine for leg extensions, hamstring curls, and preacher curls. Of course it does other movements but some things I'd rather just do using cables or free weights. Some other exercises it does well is hip thrusts and pullovers. I like to attach bands to the weight horn sometimes to address the resistance curve that is noticeable on longer range of motion exercises. I have to say, I'm pretty happy with mine. Are there times when I'm short on time and don't feel like setting it up? Yes. But I figured as much when I bought it. This thing brings a ton of versatility to my small gym space, and gives me options, so its worth it to me.

I am currently building a house, so I'm taking notes of what I want in my gym. I currently have a Force USA G-12, but that is staying in the old house. I have my eye on this as that is where I feel like most functional trainers lack is machine worthy leg exercises. I am so excited to add this versatility to a small space. I'm not sure when you made this review if the racks were available, but Bulletproof now has a Tri-Post Rack. I pre-ordered it and have high hopes for this rack, Isolator, and squat rack combination. I think these with a small smith/cable combo and a dumbbell rack is a winner for a small area. Thanks for all your reviews. Love your channel!

Have had my Isolator for 3.5 weeks now. All my plastic pressure plate knobs are perfectly fine from carriage to weight horn and leverage arm port. Just pre-ordered the Self Adjusting/Adjustable Roller Pad and Adjustable Roller Pad Hex Port Sleeve. Love the Isolators quality. Carriage weighs 45lbs. I take everything off mine except for the trolley, and I just leave it sitting at the very bottom of my rack. Once you know your height settings taking the components on/off only takes about a minute or so. I've timed myself before, not trying to rush or hurry or anything like that. It was about a minute and a half. If for some reason you need the trolley off the rack completely, that takes even less time. 10 seconds to get it off and move out of the way. Like anything that requires a set up time, you have to be willing to use the time setting it up initially to know where your settings are going to be. After that it's really not bad. I don't feel like this is something that gets in my way, or that I would have to have permanently installed somewhere.

Okay so coop was saying that he would buy an upright and post and I can see that as being more space and time convenient. However when you add that extra cost you’re quickly getting to a place where you could just buy the Titan leg extension combo machine and the bicep curl and still have money left over. It really does come down to what you prioritize because if you have the space it would definitely be more convenient to have each individual item and its own place and it would also be a lot easier to sell or get more of your money back if you ever decide to sell them. I don’t think people would pay more than 400 or $500 on the resale market for this. But they definitely would for standalone machines. Just another factor to consider.

This whole video I was thinking "this doesn't need to take up a whole squat rack, just bolt a single upright into the corner with cross brackets at 90 degrees to each other, upper and lower, and you've got a really compact yet very versatile piece of kit." And then you give almost that very advice at the end of the video! Woop-woop Coop! Given that this video is almost a year old, I'd like to see what changes and advances the company has made. Can it be compatible with cables and stacks? Did they fix the problems you pointed out? If they've made improvements, I'd definitely love to see a revisit of this product. I'm not super strong and a lot of my work is rehab and stabilization, so it's very nice to see options for legs that aren't focused on body weight, yet can fit in a smaller home gym.

I bought one before Coop's review, but waiting on backorder. I'm mounting it to 2 uprights and feeding a seleectorizor weight stack to it. I bought a used Nautilus machine with 200lbs, threw the machine to the scrap yard, took the weights and fab the weights into the two uprights. I fed a pulley into the stack so there's a cable running on each side of the crossmember and back down to a former weight plate functional trainer [another piece so I have custom cable pulley heights. Then I'll run a dual eye bolt to attach the selectorizor weight stack to the weight arm of the Isolator and not worry about putting the weight horn on. Yes, it is a lot to have a weight stack on this thing, but worth it!

Does GGR do awards? As in Products of the Year awards only for products released in the previous year or so? I think you should. I'm pretty sure companies would gladly use it as a marketing tool. Could have cardio equipment, rack attachment, budget, premium, "overall product of the year" etc. I know you do product roundups in the past like be barbell, best adjustable dumbbells etc, but an annual awards (preferably say a month before a major fitness equipment expo in Vegas so winners have the chance to update their promotional material) makes absolute sense for your channel.

btw the issue with the screws (in my experience) is not the screws them selves, it's the treading on the carriage that you screw them into... i was able to fix this by using a tap and subtly re-trheading the carriage hole.

Do leg curls feel more difficult at beginning or end of the movement? Ideally, it's most difficult at the stretch then easier at full contraction. This looks like the opposite given the lever arm is parallel to the ground at the end of the movement.

The Isolator isn’t my favorite attachment. I just don’t see it in that category. It is like a force multiplier in my home gym! I have used it for so many things they don’t have in their library and ideas for more! I hope bullet proof is ok because I see the PCD is off the website. Thanks for reviewing this!

  • @HeelerGSD

I've had mine for 24 hours, and have some observations: Holy s*** the parts are heavy. I appreciate the beefy build quality, but was not expecting the seat to weigh so much. Overall, build up and break down is fine, manageable, but it's also a bit of a workout itself. And maybe it's not the weight per se, but holding the weight and then lining up the sparts jusssst so for proper insertion -- a lot more annoying than setting up a J-cup. Anyhow, I do take exception to some who say moving the carriage up and down is simple. For me, the tolerance on my 3-inch Rep post is pretty damn tight, and I let the carriage go all the way down the post and rest on the bottom -- big mistake. The spacers inside the carriage got wedged on the rack and I needed 20-plus minutes struggling with a crowbar to get the carriage unstuck. Finally, Coop is right: Bulletproof really needs to improve their reference library. It can be a struggle to get setup perfect to ensure everything is comfortable AND tension is optimized across range of motion. And then if you care about progressive overload, your settings (ie exactly how the apparatus is set up) must be recorded to the letter, or else that 30 lb plate may feel like 25 lb or 35 lb next time you the exercise. Anyhow, it feels pretty good for lying leg curls and donkey calf raises.

If that's all you're using/wanting it for, might I suggest the Williams/EliteFTS rack attached leg curl/leg extension. With the tightening\breaking of the plastic piece, seems like it should only be tightened in order to hold it up so you can put the pin in. Doesn't need to be cranked down so hard to hold it up alone..correct?

Lots of variability if you have a dedicated rack for bodybuilding movements and you like those movements. Very complex and unwieldy though. I agree with you about it being a PITA to put on and take off, much less adjust in between movements (slowing down the flow of your workout significantly if a lot of adjustments were needed). Cool and I'm glad someone innovated it but I agree it's not for everyone and may benefit from refinement. It kind of reminds me of the Ironmaster Superbench in terms of variability but definitely does not look as easy to adjust.

Do you own this? Because I do and Coop failed to show the carriage on its own. I have the attachments off the carriage and leave the carriage at the bottom of the rack when not in use. This allows me to squat, bench, etc in my rack without the carriage ever being in the way. It takes 1 minute to set up leg extension, leg curl, or preacher curl from there. Pretty great value if you ask me. Not sure you can call it complex and unwieldy if you don’t have first hand experience with it

I'd like to add to this review from a physical Therapy prospective. I just recently gotten rid of 3 pieces of equipment because of fast wear and tear in my clinic. I'd like to point out what I think would work from being in the business for 23 years and watching equipment go bad. What parts you need to look out for. I know this is not commercial. And if you're the only one using it, it may or may not be a problem. 1) Tightening knob. If you see one of these on any equipment that means it's either loose to begin with or over time slop occurs and gets loose. Anyone using this knobs that are not warned about pulling and tightening will either strip the threading off the bolt attached to the knob. Or yank, over tighten or accidentally tighten on a flat surface and not engaged in a hole it was extended for adjustment. Boy have I witnessed this on a very expensive exercise bike that had to be chucked in a dumpster. Not joking. The fix ; spring loaded pins. Both surfaces where the metal rides on another needs to be tight tolerances and chrome on both surfaces. Powder coat will wear leaving a sticking to both surfaces. Especially the the square tubes that ride up and down other square tubes. 2) Adjustable pull pins with knobs that don't face you. Those knobs depending on the pin or the receptacle where the pin goes in will loosen up. The Fix; in your video the 360 degree adjustment wheel , the pin needs to face the user where they're not trying to hold the weight of the carage with one arm or leg while pulling sideways. Bend that wheel where the holes face you instead of facing sideways. 3) Parts. If it looks like it will break, more than likely it will break. Order those pins and knobs at the time you buy the equipment. Or 4 years down the road maybe sooner the business has either closed or parts are no longer available. 4) That rotating arm that everything Pivots on has some sort of bushing. If it's brass bushings order 10 more parts for both sides and eternals . Trust me when I tell you this. You bring up strong points on the machine. These parts can be fixed and the equipment modified to last a very long time. I'm not a fan of squares sliding on square tubing. Expect to have to unload the weights when adjusting the leg up and down. You will be using both hands and trying to find the pin hole. Other than my concerns , I like the idea. It would make a good muscle group finisher or pump after hitting it hard on other equipment. And gyms just don't have equipment like that. (What I like )- of you are injured this equipment hanging down will have a zero capacity and only the arm and removable leg attachments can be removed to make it super light. Like if your parents or anyone with knee replacements. This is excellent. So my thinking if this company addresses these concerns I'll buy one for my physical therapy clinic. And my patients can use it everyday. ❤😮
