"Are All Ships Racist!?" Piers Morgan On Cancelling Football Badges

Ойын-сауық

Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by podcast host Hotep Jesus, author Bonnie Greer and TalkTV contributor Paula Rhone-Adrien to debate whether Manchester United and Manchester City should remove the ships from their club crests as the emblem may have ties to historic slavery.
Piers suggests it is ridiculous as Manchester didn't adopt ship imagery until 30 years after slavery was abolished. Paula however explains that slavery still continued after its abolition so historians should look into whether there is a connection.
Hotep goes on to say that these notions are a waste of time and doing nothing in the fight against racism. He also adds the reason he thinks women care so much about these issues is because they are "more emotional" than men.

As a black man, this is ridiculous. No one owes any apology to something that happened years and years ago. If we want to see a change, we gotta let the past go. Doing all of this won't change anything but make everything worse than the time of slavery.

I really do think in all honesty your response was so sincere and absolutely spot on. I am white I hate that slavery happened absolutely beyond doubt. We should all seek to be equal and move on. Whites have been slaves too. Why can't we all focus on the future and make it better. I'm sick and tired of having to feel guilty for being simply white. Spot on you speak sense

i agree. i have personally seen a rise in hate speach and a divide since the BLM thing kicked off. it's like it degraded relations and took us back 30 years or so. i would never do the kneel down and give the knee thing as i myself have never been disrespectful or had any hate for black people and come from a background of simple poor welsh mining folk who i doubt had any hand in the awful slavery of the past. all this nonsense is a gateway to more hate for sure

The people running Manchester when the ship was first put on the Coat of Arms were staunch abolitionists and Manchester hadn’t had involvement with slavery for generations. No one ever mentions reparations from the black nobles from Africa who actually sold their own people to the European slave traders. Or the African tribes that enslaved white people. No one ever talks about the Romans enslaving Europeans including the British. If everyone pays reparations we would just be exchanging money to each other because we all, more than likely, have suffered from the actions of our ancestors with regards to enslavement.

As a black Nigerian who's done a bit of probing into history too, I am flaming angry that other blacks have made a crusade out of this issue all for the sake of victimising whites with eternal guilt over slavery that we in Africa were equally engaged in. The practice was something so endemic that growing up in the late sixties my grandmother (who was over a 100 at the time) was familiar with the practice and could point to branches of the family that had been brought in as slaves. On a visit to a neighbouring town along the coast of Southern Nigeria, I stumbled on a row of cannons facing the river that I was told was used by African chiefs to fight back British Navy Anti-slavery ships. In all the blather of that woman, how is it everyone is forgetting it was the British and Americans who did the unprecedented to - not only abolish the practice - but fight wars to end it?!? My blood boils when I see people like that lady on the panel spouting such gibberish and being given a hearing! Yes, let her speak, but let's all know she is speaking from her deep ignorance. Her voice grates on my very soul as she brays along about things she knows zilch about.

By the way, have we stopped for a moment to consider the role of Africans themselves in the sale of their own kinsmen? Today, slavery is still going on in Mauritania and these folks are concerned about 150, 200 year old symbols. Shame on them.

To me that is the real rub, that there is documentation that Africans sold other Africans to the slave trade. And that it still goes on today in small areas in Africa. Let them jump on a ship and go to Africa to correct the current problem while we try to work out the problems at home relating to inequality. As an American I look at California (left there for good in 2007) looking to pay reparations to those who in no way were affected by slavery.

These dumb people believe in Critical Race Theory. Academic critics of CRT argue it is based on storytelling instead of evidence and reason, rejects truth and merit, and opposes liberalism. CRT was created in the US post civil rights movement,. CRM used CRT as a stick to beat white people over the head with their 'evil' history. CRT black people are woke, nuts and never ever bother with research as they think they know it all.

Modern black people are not slaves. Modern white people aren’t slave owners. Why should white people pay for previous white peoples wrongdoings? Unity is the most important, not white people giving up their life and service to black people for their whiteness. It’s transverse racism to think that’s okay. 2 wrongs don’t make a right. History is terrible but I’m not part of the new chapter where white people let themselves become oppressed when the racial power shifts change to black people. This will just repeat 🔁 all over again except this time round future generations will be told about how black people also oppressed and enslaved whites 200 years later for revenge.

As a black person I’m finding this extremely frustrating. By Calling racism on any old crap they can find it devalues what actually happened with slavery and when genuine acts of discrimination occur. It also seeks division which in turn is likely to cause actual discrimination. Why not give it a rest and just try to get on with each other?

the constant loop is exactly what is wanted. if your constantly saying sorry and feeling guilty then theres constant reparations and money is involved in that, large sums of money. the constant loop gives so many perks and allows you to silence great swades of people from making an opinion should you be enclined to use such underhanded tactics, hell piers they could have just called privilaged to silence him, they claimed he did not have a shared lived experience. to hotep they could easily have implied that he was under the control of privilaged people or even a mouth piece for privilaged individuals. I seen it so many times and it really needs to stop and people need to get back to common sense solving of problems that actually affect people and treating root causes not the ideological swing causes. hell look at american police, brutality 100% of the time leads to the loss of life but they are not treating police brutality because they are calling it systemic racism
