First Patreon sponsored bow review. Thank you all so much my dear patrons. I am so happy that it works!
And thanks to Freddie Won from Freddie Archery, who gave us this bow for free, just shipping. Awesome!

The Black Shadow is a very good bow and a great choice for getting into Asian bows.

Yay! So happy to watch the very first bow for Patreon😊 Fantastic👍👍
Had one, works pretty good and very portable thanks to its size, weight and the additional bag. The only con should be the string which is a bit thick.
awesome. I love my Nomad too but you pointed out things that I missed. One thing - I have just started working on my "Katra" but as I shot off my thumb, I wore the leather on the right side of the bow handle with the arrow scrapping along the bow as it flew. I hope to stop that with your lesson on titling the bow and pressing forward but it takes practice! great point about paying extra of good service. as a small business owner, I know the value of that too. great vid
Been using this bow for almost a year. Extremely durable. 8 gpp is my choice for the arrow. Highly recommend for beginner and experienced archer.

always good video's. Your always so respectful with your teaching
Very nice looking bow and fast enough to use on whitetails here in the Northern Catskill Mountains of upstate New York.
I've had this now for a couple of months now from Freddy, and I love it, so light and fast.

I have a "Phoenix" model of these bows, 50lb. @30" .... I really like these bows as they are light and fast and just a pleasure to shoot. I wrapped the handle area with para-cord to enlarge it to fit my hand better ... it makes it in between the small modern style handle and the enlarged traditional grip. I also would like to see a comparison of these bows and the Alibow Segye.

I have one also, do you know what it would look like if the fake leather wrap around the limbs were removed?
Nice video! Thanks mate. I’m new to archery at 36 years old, I love it and so does my wife- it’s so nice and peaceful, just like rifle shooting, a great way to relax and meditate.
Just an aside. That particular style of handle was what was on Korean bows 500, 600 years ago. I know someone who makes replica bows and archery equipment from the mid Choseon Kingdom period. As I have a bow scale, he's brought me several bows to have the draw weights checked. They all had that style of grip. I haven't had the courage to ask him if he would sell me one as I know just how much personal love and care he puts into his bows. Korean bows have evolved over time. The handle/grip is one thing that has. Limbs have gotten longer as synthetic materials allow for that. Some bowyers' bows have flat limbs rather than ones with convex surfaces. Those nock pads that the string rests on were made of leather with a cloth covering. Many bowyers use those plastic ones, as on this bow. However, those pads will deteriorate over time and can shatter when struck by the string. I had that happen with an 18-year-old bow just recently. Then again, 18 years sure is a long time when you think about it.
A very informative review, Thanks
I always love the korean bow. Lite n beautiful

Bakelite. When we were young, electrical outlets, light switches, etc were made from it. Very hard and brittle. I am not sure what part of the bow would use it, unless it is in the handle or possibly around the string nocks.
@ericmorrell806
4 жыл бұрын
It's probably a coating or a thin layer on the back laminate. It is brittle, but it has high tensile strength so it would handle the tension forces on the back of the bow very well.
Mine came yesterday, a day early. I just ordered it last week. Free Shipping. It was way beyond my expectations. I did receive a really nice sleeve, no extra charge.

@@ronsarchery6378 It does look nice. The only ones I can find for sale in Britain come with a shelf, which I don't want, but they are around £156 for the bow alone which is pretty good price for it. I think if I do go for it I shall get arrows with it as well.
i need help , is ok to keep this bow strung ? cuz if i put the string daily im gona damage the blade where i stop it with my foot ... the leather on top is already messed .....

Was waiting for Jeörg Sprav to pop up out of nowhere haha
I hope that's Australian dollars as I've found the 48 inch in the UK for £136.
Why are you dropping it as you would a modern Olympic recurve? I use the black shadow myself with a thumb draw and never do that. I paid £175 in the UK from an archery shop

Hello, how are you, I want to buy a Korean bow and I am between the Freddie Archery (ex Nomad) KTB and the Daylie PHOENIX, which one do you recommend? Greetings.
Good videos, learning a lot here! Thanks! Quick question, when you say 12 grains for example, do you mean 12 grains per pound or per inch?

@@ArminHirmer So after some research I'm going to buy one of Freddie's Nomad bows. There is one thing that's bugging me though. I was wondering if the Nomad KTB (the one with leather/cloth covering and big foam grip with yellow wrapping, $250) and the Kingdom KTB ($260) have the same laminated construction as the Black Shadow. From what I've seen it seems their difference is only in the finish, grip, and cosmetics rather than core construction and materials. I'd appreciate it if you could shine some light on this too. And many thanks again Armin.
I've purchased a Black Shadow today. When shooting them against others bows, you can see it is pretty much a copy/variation of the Windfighter but without the large rubber handle. It's my first "Horsebow" and it's lovely. The draw is nice and smooth, the bow is light and even at 40 lbs it packs one hell of a punch. Overall I think it's a great quality bow without costing too much.
Nice and have many you have bows?
What dose diffrence bettwen black shodow and nomad ktb?
Regarding the "noise" at 07:25 i just very recently got the very same bow (although in 30 pounds - have already a 40 pounder mongolian) at a local dealer, mine does the exact same little crackling/croaking on the top notch when drawing. Glad to see im not alone with that "sound experience". So far nothing happened, so i guess aswell that it's the leather. With thin light carbon arrows (can't remember the weight) at the shop we managed 185 FPS out of the 30pound version. Very impressive! Loving it by the way! Is my new most favourite bow in the collection :)
Very nice very nice
Mine just arrived today I can’t wait to try it out! Isn’t it typical as soon as I get the bow my horse is lame for the first time in years 😪 lots of practicing on the ground for a while

Can you relate arrow gpi as compared to arrow spine weight or deflection . My experience with recurves etc deal with arrow spine 600s etc when using finger release.. I have an Ali bow and AF.of type you use on vids bareshaft testing on these is “interesting”but not that informative. Never heard this discussed. I’ve used every release method I’ve ever seen and stupid ones of my own delusion .I wish to understand matching arrows to bow.I understand a 45 lb bow use 450gr arrow 10 tpi.i believe I’ve seen all your vids.
