Arondir Archery Style Explained! Archer recreates Rings of Power style of shooting arrows

I've seen the dagger style archery being practice a lot in Russia if I'm not mistaken, especially the famous video of the redhead woman shooting with this technique. To me this technique is valid but only with shortbow and short arrows otherwise you don't use efficiently the draw length of your bow and the arrows are too long to be drawn from the quiver. I see this technique as an alternative to comanche technique pictured by Lars Andersen

Yes, I remember the red headed Russian lady on KZread shooting this style. They called it Murmansk fast shooting.

This is very valid point! Thank you 🙏

She uses four fingers above the arrow. Kind of pinching the arrow between index and thumb. But otherwise looks similar. Video is called "Archery - fast shooting (murmansk)" ...
Congratulations, Charlie, a job well done to redo this weird Arondir release! Iwould call it a Flamish reverse grip, what Arondir does. Flamish release would be the same like mediterranean release, but only with two fingers and some medieval English Longbowmen did this.

Thanks for naming the style correctly :)
Yeah it makes sense, I've used this method several times plus two finger grip on the right side of the bow---not as much while in motion but as another way of quick nocking and such---and THAT came out really well a bunch of times, same with 3 fingers on the right side. The thing that I noticed made a difference was that when you tighten the grip and use the fingers to twist the string towards the bow to hold the arrow against it. Not as supported, yeah, but still doable.

Great tip!
Thank you for checking this unusual technique, dear Charlie! You have done great! 👊😁
I think that's pretty much how I shoot my larp arrows. I use a weak bow so I don't need a lot of strenght, but I need to be super fast to hit moving targets while running before the catch me. So yep, it seems they got something right :P
Remind me about some Native American techniques. It can work for lower draw weight bows.

Some Native American cultures use quite heavy draw bows with a very short draw with similar style. Short, powerful bows... There are people on youtube showing how to build and how to shoot. Many nations with many different cultures is important to remember...

Definitely!
That would work so well with Korean Male Thumb Ring using middle finger for release.

What bow is that? I like it very much and am a bit tired of asl I liked your video and your breakdown of the style. Well done

The bow I use? It's my favorite Assyrian bow by www.bogararchery.sk :)
Could you recreate some of the scenes in their entirety, as in, running in a similar terrain, using his style and shooting at targets corresponding to where the enemies are in the movie? After all, you both do running archery... :)

That’s a challenge! 🏹💪
That technique is actually work, some Native American and English longbow men do that. 2 fingers technique being use in medieval time because if archer get caught, 3 of their finger get cut by the enemies. Some russian archer do that too today

Wow, what an interesting fact!
Also in the new Avatar and in the new Predator movie they shoot like this 🤨

The new predator movie in Comanche language is amazing! The English version is like doing 2001 without HAL... Taking away a major pillar of the film!
It's not an inverted draw but my friend Mihai is about the fastest there is and he does it on horseback too. Maybe you know him? kzread.infoWjWUn22gLUE
