1. you can't 'copyright' a name. 2. There is no record of a trademark 3. Registering a domain name with Lillibet in it (if they did that, again there is no website) isn't copyrighting the name. But it does protect them in case someone buys the domain name and turns it into a porn site or something really horrible.) I don't blame them if they did do that, but again the newspapers said they had 'copyrighted' the name, which you can't do. That's bad journalism whichever way you look at it.

@@AL_THOMAS not copyrighted as such, but they have created several Domain names under ‘Lillibet Diana’ and in other forms which are protected from others using them. They did the same with ArchWell.

Monetising the name Lillibet is disgusting, particularly when it was given to the Queen by her parents and sister. When Harry told the Queen, before he married, "what Megan wants, Megan gets" sums this up perfectly.

I think the palace should intervene now. They do have legal rights and should be exercised. It is Kings duty to his country and he has been far too soft about it. No one can ever replace Queen Elizabeth and this is too awful to hear. It is so unbelievably offensive and an invasion of her personal privacy. They should consider it as appropriation of identity for gain and stop it all right now. You cannot copyright a private name!

I was born in England in 1952 and emigrated to the U.S in 1967 but, Elizabeth was still my Queen. When the sad news came that she had passed, I cried like I hadn't since my mother died. I honestly think I cared more about Queen Elizabeth than the Grifters of Sussex ever have.

I felt nothing but sadness when I read the Queen's response to Harry's and Meghan's duplicitous betrayal: she didn't own the palaces or the paintings or the jewels. All that really belonged to her was the intimate childhood nickname used only by her parents, grandparents, sister, niece, nephew, Royal cousins and beloved husband, and the Montecito duo stripped her of that, too. May she rest in peace, and may the Sussexes receive their just desserts for their horrible treatment of their respective families.

Finally someone said what nobody reports on and IT is a big part of the whole story and why the Queen was so upset: they registered the domains with the name two days before they announced the name which means they plan to merch it. They didn't just name the kid after the beloved grandmother, they decided to use the fact why this name is most known for and earn the money on that association to the Queen. The other part to this story is that this was yet another unauthorised registered Trademark - of Queens moniker on her Official birthday. AFTER Queen very publicly blocked M&H attempt to use "Sussex Royal" just before Duo hasty Xmas departure. The UK 'Royal' Trademark was covertly registered by Duo's staff. On 19th December SAME day Prince Phillip was admitted to hospital for Heart Treatment - H&M coverty switch UK account into their names AND register another Royal Trademark Internationally. Soon after The Guardian expose this story, William throws a fist and H&M expose their step down. Harry Grandmother as Monarch is Head of State and Law. The word Royal and Her Majesty's name is protected by UK Trademark law in 'Her Royal Image'. It is Royal Protocol for Queen to consent before any birth name announcement. And to register a Trademark without Royal assent is a contravention of Her Majesty Law. What a double whammy Birthday Present. And what a cold calculated deed months prior when Queens "strength & stay" husband hospitalised with a terminal illness. The absolute contempt Meghan And Harry have for Queen seems obscene. What an consummate Actor Harry has become with his want to protect his grandmother and make sure she has the “right people around her”.

Not only did they lie about the blessing the Queen had not given but via their lawyers( the same one that was on their Netflix documentary ) aggressively went after the BBC who had reported the Queen had not consented . So they tried to shut down the free press so as to improve their brand . Disgraceful to try and limit accurate reporting by threatening more legal action .

Even if hypothetically some staff would want and/or agree for the report to be released it would be impossible IMO - as it would expose ALL names. You want to expose H nd M but you would have staff exposed to public media and scrutinty. Can you imagine the circus? And least remember the harkles' propoensity for bullying and litigation

Actually I was mortified and very angry when I saw the carefully cut piece on Megan doing the courtesy however when I watched the series - which obviously a lot of you haven't - it was said by Megan in the context of Britain maintaining its wonderful traditions for so many hundreds of years. Yes, Harry did momentarily look a bit taken aback but of course quickly realized the context in which it was said.
