I remember back in the 70's in Oakland Calif where I grew up, people used to call someone "woke" if they understood how bigotry (in all of it's various forms) is used to divide and conquer The People. The Capitalists will do anything to keep us all from standing in solidarity, because if we did that, we'd realize we have exactly zero need for the wealthy elite who use bigotry6 to keep us all fighting each other. We humans could *all* have peace and prosperity. Only bigotry divides us.

I taught Spanish at both Montefiore and Jacobi Hospitals. When I taught Spanish to Emergency Room physicians at Jacobi, it was receiving more gunshot wounds than any ER in the country. I am so glad AOC is working together with them and bringing attention to this great program at Jacobi.

@@MajorHenryL. I realize you're being deliberately facetious, but guns can be purchased and taken across state lines extremely easily in the United States; no state or municipality exists in a vacuum here, and there are no hard borders at any state lines. That said, there is literally no reason we should not make it easier to record and track gun ownership, have universal background checks at the point of purchase (and wait times between the purchase and delivery of firearms), and overall make the stockpiling of arms and ammunition designed solely for taking the lives of other human beings more difficult and subject to scrutiny. A federal gun buyback program and, as mentioned in the video, treating the "epidemic" of gun violence as a public health and welfare issue rather than an issue of criminality would both go far in mitigating further loss of life in our country at large. There absolutely are things we can do to remedy this crisis, but we just have one party, bought and paid for by the gun lobby, standing in the way of progress at any and every turn.

Too many people on both sides of this issue don’t want to discuss, listen and compromise and THAT is the problem. It’s said that “guns aren’t the problem, it’s a mental health problem.” That’s where their debate ends. What I don’t understand is, if you know who/what is the problem why do you still think the “problem” should still have access to guns? 🤷🏻‍♀️
