I HONESTLY COMMEND THIS OFFICER AND DO BELIEVE HIS HEART IS IN IT FOR THE RIGHT REASONS. WE TAUGHT HIM SOMETHING THAT DAY AND HE GAVE US HOPE. I love this video. I agree that good and bad both need to be highlighted. To those that disagree, do you think that this video might wake up an officer on the fence and motivate him to do the right thing? If only one mind is changed, it's worth it. Showing both prove you're reasonable, rational and a true thinker. It shows you think truth is more powerful than opinion, and believe showing negative only to make viewers happy isn't worth sacrificing your integrity. It speaks highly of your character. I personally believe it's impossible to be a good cop in America, but most have good hearts and want to do the right thing. But, you can't be good if you're operating in the middle of corruption.

Seriously, the reason he hasn't been promoted is because he comes off as an honest guy

However, with the information I have seen and the demeanor in this video, I highly doubt this officer is one who abuses his authority. He seems like someone who wanted to become a cop to actually help people and not because of a superiority complex. I've worked alongside a good handful of police officers, this one seemed a lot more laid back and respectful of his position than most I've seen.

How is that? He doesn't know the most basic law of failure to ID. Law enforcement ID more than anything they do. ID when pulling someone over, ID When arresting someone. ID when making a report. ID when called to an accident. The #1 thing they do; they should know that law like the back of their hand. This idiot doesn't even know that law. @Billy William I wear an N95 mask which does protect from virus. I wear them for my work to protect me from dangerous dusk particles. I know all about mask protection. If I do not wear a mask into a grocery store or gas station, I take the chance of being attacked or worse yet being pepper sprayed which would kill me.

The more assertive cop that will bend rules, protect the crooked rogue cops and enable their tyranny will. The rest of the force will form a clique with him or her. They'll all crack jokes at the good cops expense and they'll have BBQ's, beers and parties and they won't invite the good cop. That's why they good cops get bullied out or shut their mouth and get on with their job, hopefully they can make it to the finish (pension) line without the bad cops turning on him or her.

This officer was truly trying to connect with you on a personal level. My biggest pet peeve with any police is when they have a god complex and believe their badge and gun put them above the public. This officer smiled, laughed and had a conversation person to person. Awsome to see. The world would be a much better place if there was more officers like this guy.

That's probably one of the best interactions between an auditor and a police officer . The officer was very cordial , unlike a lot of other officers who like to beat on their chest and abuse their authority. Good job sir !

This is one of the best audits ever. They should all go similar to this. Officers Nation wide could take a lesson from this guys playbook.

Instead of weird or suspicious, a better word would be unusual, which the activity certainly is, I.e., not seen very often. This officer was definitely cordial and it was refreshing to see an officer not get riled up when proven wrong, that too is unusual. He obviously took it as a learning experience. Good for him, and great that you acknowledged him as conducting himself professionally. 👍👍

Highlight the bad and the good! Always nice to see an officer being positive and down to earth!

Put that officer in charge of training he could honestly do well passing his knowledge and common sense on. Seriously so good to see an ego free officer for a change

I dont want polite officers, I want officers who are capable of telling the truth and thats exactly what he did after looking it up. If you cant see the positive aspect in this video, I suggest you watch more audits and realise that this one was clearly a pass. @@Nutnboujee You missed the cop being human. I am absolutely not some back the blue person but at the end I think the cop could have been 20x more disgusting. Yes, like other people said, I agree that after 14 years, he absolutely knew the law aboit id and stuff and would 100% get the id from someone who didnt know their rights but I have seen enough bad cops to be able to appreciate this one

Ashley yeah. I watched it again. While I found him to be annoying, I had no right to judge his style. Overall, he did portray some awesome traits. He was honest and seemed to be trying hard. Can’t fault him for that either. I withdraw my earlier comment. I stand corrected. Thank you!😃🙏💜

That officer deserves a promotion 👏 we need more officers like this guy on our streets. Having him as a leader is a great way to show lower subordinates how to interact with citizens and never let your ego take over your professionalism as a cop. It is ok to be wrong because cops aren't lawyers and don't always know the law and can always learn something new by just listening and doubled checking for yourself to make sure you understand the law correctly to perform a cops duty correctly at all times as a officer of the law. Anyway this officer did a great and its great to see we actually have officers like this out there. There is some hope!

This is a great interaction in my opinion. He admitted he was wrong, he even said himself its impossible to memorize every single law. I think he truly thought there was a law. He even had a pretty chill conversation and he seems very real and has a terrific mindset.

Great cop!!! Wish we had more cops like this and I would feel safe in a community where this guy was running a department.

I watched this a while ago and rewatched today. It was refreshing to see an officer not let his ego get the best of him. I watch tons of these videos and I think Bay Area Transparency is one of, if not, the best doing it. Thank you.

He approached that perfectly. He was kind and courteous. His parents did a good job. Captain material. He should go around the country and train.

This lefty officer was awesome, thoughtful, intelligent, and open minded. Mendoza though, he wanted to rumble. 🤣

Finally…. This guy’s a genuinely nice person with job to do and he passed with flying colours 👌No ego either, which is shows when BAT starts to push a little. This just shows that these audit’s are 💯 % necessary and we can ALL learn something from them and maybe finally get along! Hats off to all involved, it was so unexpected it made me smile to know that although small there’s still good cops out there👏. When you meet a friendly smiled officer everything goes the right direction. This police officer looks a friendly person. The faces say a lot. I can't even imagine him as a tyrant. Very good audit. By the way he really deserves a promotion.

Friendly policemen aren't always genuinely friendly. Sometimes it's just a tactic do be disarming. Be polite, but don't relax and start volunteering information.

God bless this guy he is gonna go far! No ego he admits when he is wrong this guy is gold. Perfect example of the words interactions between 2 human beings where it can get warm but cool down and laugh at the end, no hard feelings this guy is full of honesty

I love the fact a police officer doesn’t even know basic law.I mean asking people to identify is the most common thing police do.You’d think they’d understand the laws behind it.

He is a hwy patrol officer whose job is to stop people on the hwy for driving/vehicle violations where you ask everyone for ID no matter what. He didn't argue to no end about it, but took the correct steps to find truth. He then admitted his mistake.

@@TonyGutierrez-qv7cm true. Many cops assert they have a ‘right’ to ask a suspicious non driving person for id. This comes down to semantics I believe. Yes they have a right to ask, but no they don’t have a right to require it. Most people when confronted by this argument from a cop will give in and identify. If you know your 4th amendment right and assert it, you have a fighting chance to maintain your privacy.

SimplySavvyLife - ignorance of the law isn’t a good excuse. how many police officers in America are we meant to believe have still not got the memo on id? I say they all know what they do because they were instructed to do so by their training. they have a problem with recording in public, immediately want to disarm people who’ve committed no crime, begin by trying to id everyone sometimes even people who were totally unconnected to their callout & etc. I can’t even imagine police officers following the constitution to the letter.

Dude I appreciate when you show cops being honest and humble. Not all cops are bad, but some are and even some are too many.

That officer was one of the most stand-up officers I've ever seen I was very impressed and I agree with you he should be promoted no doubt about it
