Mikey! You finally did it! You got a Classical guy. That's a huge breakthrough for your channel. I am 98% Classical myself. Not only that, I also live in Oregon, so you done good my man! I hope he bought the MPD8. ------ On another note: Is the Gershman Avant Garde in the same upper class as Borresen O2, TAD CE1, etc?

Great feedback. One point re Emm Labs is that we are comparing last last gen Emm Labs (last gen had the v2 upgrade) vs current gen MPD. Another point is that most orchestral musicians tend to have pretty poor hearings because of years playing in the orchestra - you can’t defeat physics and human anatomy. I hope he uses ear protections while playing - probably not because it’s hard to play with your ears plugged up (from experience)

@@OCDHIFiGuy 😂 I apply a healthy dose of skepticism to all things KZread. Is MPD8 better than NG Linn Klimax with Utopik power supply or Emm Labs DV2 playing on the big rig? Do you think you can procure a shootout?

@zipperunamused9009 Linn has never been known for digital. It's a Turntable company. DV2 is far more analytical, I've had one here.. I'll be comparing to DCS Rossini Apex this week.

@@OCDHIFiGuy Linn was the first hi end manufacturer to the market with Klimax streamer back in 2007 and they have since had multiple iterations of their streamers. I bought Linn instead of MPD5 after hearing both. The latest NG Klimax uses fiber network input. I would not write off Linn. Did you use USB or coax input when you tested DV2? Would be great if you could point me to the video. I do recognize MPD8 is less expensive than Linn and quite a bargain in today’s market. I am just not sure whether MPD8 is better.

@zipperunamused9009 I wonder who designed the DAC for Linn... are you in USA ? Because nobody I speak to even mentions the name here and I speak with maybe 5 Audiophile strangers every day. So if it's so good, it's got shit for marketshare in USA. Simple enough for me to call the USA dealers for it and ask how DAC sales are...but I honestly don't care about the company. Who owns it ? Is the founder still there ? Will the founder be at AXPONA showing his latest digital gear so I can speak with him ? How about a phone call, can I speak with the founder still ? Let's look at NAGRA as an example. Huge respected name from Switzerland. $65K DAC by the analog tape moguls.. uses a $3500 Board out of a Merlot DAC which is Playback Designs entry level converter. MPD5 was the old guard. Nowhere near the 6 and the 8 easily outperforms the 6. So your MPD5 on the used market is max of $6K with the old tech. This video compares things in the $25K range... so its a pretty different basket of apples..
