If I am not mistaken, the word "Monomyth" was coined/crafted by James Joyce in Finnegans Wake (perhaps the most impenetrably esoteric book known to man) and was repurposed by mythology scholar Joseph Campbell to talk about the journey of departure and return undertaken by heroes throughout world mythology: "The standard path of the mythological adventure of the hero is a magnification of the formula represented in the rites of passage: separation-initiation-return: which might be named the nuclear unit of the monomyth" (from The Hero With a Thousand Faces) Is it any coincidence that this catchy little tune has elements from all previous AAL releases? From the manic thumping of Madness, to the melodious epicness of Joy, to the dreamy and unnerving electronic textures of Weightless and, of course, the absurdly mindblowing shredding of the eponymous 1st album? It's all there: snippets from the cycle of the AAL discography, mixed together into a whole new brew of sonic deliciousness... Looking forward to the album!!!!
