Actually, the EP release date has already been either 10 years or absolutely close to being 10 years (since it was released in 2012) and this video was released in 2013. I just discovered it this year after a long time of it being in my suggestions. I regret not clicking on it earlier. I'm a huge fan of Intervals now. :)

This is so tastefully written.. Melodic djent at its best. I'm kinda sad that Aaron abandoned this style, but also i'm grateful that he continues making the music he likes.
@TheCriminalSporadic
7 жыл бұрын
I feel ya. When he was making music that was heavier like this, I think he was able to mix djent and melody so well. LIke, you could tell that it was Aaron because he has a melodically defined style of playing. But yeah, hoping that his next album mixes TSOC and his past stuff. But that's just wishful thinking, who knows which direction he's going to take his next album. If anything, I think Epiphany best represents his both sides of his melodic writing and metal/djent writing.
I will always remember hearing this for the first time while stargazing. Focusing on Venus in the Dark, western sky while listening to that calm intro. Then, as the song ramps up and gets heavy, I peek through the telescope, and see the furious, scorching descent of our sister planet. It was truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed.

Intervals at their best, by far. I appreciate them trying to reach a broader spectrum with bringing in a vocalist, but this is their strong point right here. i just discovered this band by accident. Impressed greatly.
This was the first joint i had ever heard from Intervals. I was posted in this god forsaken town on the border where we hardly had 3G at the time and youtube videos would buffer all the time. I would play it over and over in the car on my way home on the weekends and back. Did this for a year. And all these years later, listening to it still has the same effect on me - absolute awe. Learned how play parts of the song but still havent mastered it completely.
I heard this Song 7 years ago for the first time, and its still one of my favourites. Love you Guys.

I just can't get over how good this track is. So much the prog metal stuff is very technically impressive, but often quite forgettable. I don't think a piece needs to be catchy or have a hook to be good, but it's hard to ignore that it does help our appreciation of it. Every part of Epiphany sticks in your brain, from the smooth jazzy cleans to the djenty heavy stuff. The outro is just lovely. I'm not sure why but I just love the the palm mutes in it. The other thing I love here is that while this isn't an easy piece to play it's something that I can realistically see myself learning - it's not beyond my skills, though it'll be a challenging. It's not like most of Animals as Leaders (which I love) that it's not even worth trying because I just don't have the hours (or self-discipline) to learn anything Tosin plays.
A instrumental metal classic from the second it came out.
We'll miss you Lukas and Anup! Good luck on your future endeavors!

Absolutely one of those songs - Now I like this album even more than Animals As Leaders or Plini. This song pushed me to finally get a 7 string. Unfortunately there aren't that many 7 string songs that I like jamming to so I get back to "In Time" on a regular basis.
8 years later and this is still a masterpiece. such a powerful song
Songs like these give me the same epiphany over and over again: to let my mind and heart dance to all the marvelous things this world has to offer and to share it with those who will have it. Because it's things like that that makes it worth it to work and struggle through the rest.
I love Aaron's face at 2:01-2:02 he looks so chuffed that he played that bit!
The kind of band you listen to when you wanna just kick back, toke, and listen deeply. Seriously I feel like this harmonizes with my soul :)
Seven years on, this song has not been beat in this genre, call it post-rock/djent/finger-tapping whatever. I keep coming back to this, and looking for it elsewhere. Plenty of great artists out there I am sure plenty of people are familiar with- Tosin Abasi, Polyphia, Micic, Plini, Yvette Young, many more we all could name - and all of them are great, really are. And maybe it is just me, but this song has for me a depth of expression I haven't quite heard again, after all this time. Plenty of great technical skill, but for me this song marries skill with depth of expression, and hits the way Floyd's Comfortably Numb solo does. So it is probably saying too much and there is so much music out there, but this track is just one of my favorite of all time, and I think it always will be. Thanks, Aaron!
Great vid. Like the aura effects. Excellent music. Always appreciate the musicianship a group who aren't simply chugging along on a single open 1-5 chord in some mathematical pattern, with a monologue of tapping or arpeggios and no changes. Real creativity. :) Music for musicians and enthusiasts alike.

If you can learn this from tabs, stop using tabs!, you're are good enough to learn by ear....guess what, its faster, a LOT faster. And you learn to play the piece in the most comfortable way for you, the guy/gal who isnt the composer ;) If you're like me, and learned to play with tabs first, and got this far, you have no idea what you are capable of, and what is locked in your muscle memory. But why stop using tabs though ? In Time is one of the only 2 Albums I ever bought sheet music / Guitar Pro files for ( the other one is Plini's Handmade Cities ) never in my life have I ever made better use of 30 $. Also Epiphany is one of Intervals' easier songs except for the solo and one small tapping part at the end of the long intro, just before the first heavy riff and chorus. The middle section is the most satisfying guitar part I've learned in 2020. I'd say this album is progressively taking me out of the Intermediate level of playing and slowly entering the realm of advance - I was happy for 10 years playing highly satisfying intermediate stuff - then came the few bands that are more out there - ( namely Animals As Leaders, Intervals and Plini ) - but retain a very fun and catchy guitar style.

I dont know if anyones too fussed, but that first segment is an Ab 9/7 vamp with Ab lydian dominant as the functioning scale, giving it a fresh sound as #4/#11's are being implied over it. Just a lil tip if you're wondering how to use similar ideas.
