@Bodmerocity A lot of recent math rock is like this, more melodic and less noisy and post-hardcore influenced. However I think it's simply an odd evolution and it's come to a place where it sounds like the folk guitarists, not necessarily actually influenced by them. I don't think it's unlikely that many people who play mostly twinkly math rock have never heard of these folk guitarists, I know I certainly haven't. Although I don't know about the bigger artists that actually caused the shift to the "twinkly" style, so I don't think I can claim anything with certainty.

You know how rewarding it can be when you stumble upon music that really grabs you? It has been some time but today I am greatly rewarded. How refreshing it is to find truly great artist and music. I am hooked. Had to add an idea. I wonder if they changed slightly the name of the band by adding 19 to the end how they would be remembered? I only thought of it as a way to remember a new favorite band . My memory is going too fast. Too many fires with no air-packs in the old days the doctors tell me.
This song is life. Like the flow of it, the love, the loss, the peace ,the anger, the laughter!!!! Everything!!!

AH yes Yvette
Unpretentious and Original is how I would describe this music. What is really cool is how the also talented drummer clearly appears to be a big fan of the groove and Yvette's incremental and highly melodic talents. Her use of the capo, unusual tuning and her ear, born from a classical background in Piano and Violin lend well to the eclectic musical journey she takes her fans on. The sound is huge- would never guess it was only a trio. The rest of the band sounds great too but she is really something special.
This song invokes some serious emotions for me. Everything from tears of sorrow, to healing, bliss, and everything in-between

If I have a bad day, I just watch the drummer play and I'm instantly feeling better. My goal in life is to be as happy as the drummer.
@kdub_
5 жыл бұрын
What really helps with that goal is to make at least one stranger smile everyday. It's as easy as asking someone "How are you" with a warm welcoming smile. Trust me it's an amazing feeling when they respond with such a bright smile. Not everyone will have that reaction though. Some people may not be in the best mood and might ignore you. They could be in a bad mood. Maybe they'll think about it later and smile. Others might be really shy and have social anxiety, but they still might appreciate it deep down inside them. Just keep your chin up and try your hardest to wear a smile on your face. With enough practice you'll be spreading happiness to everyone around you.
The melody is just so freaking wonderful. It's like going through a musical journey and just feeling all those emotions

best part of the song
I love the diversity in how they play. Everybody showed off a little here. Also I love how finger picking always makes notes feel more connected.
This one's amazing, just listening to it lightens my mood, the guitar tone is freakin amazing. Drums and bass are tooo good!!
They are actually creating happy and magical moments.
This song really shows far far Yvette has come as a songwriter. She was always good but she's on another level now. I think the sections where the music is less hectic and has more space adds a lot to the band's sound, def digging that direction.
Still one of the best pieces of music I've heard... It's like psychedelic, modern progressive, classical music... Too good 🙌
You gained a new fan tonight. This is great, beautifully complex music. Just what I've been looking for!!!
Girl plays clean guitar with her fingers. Posible extended range. Bassists plays a 4 strings bass with a pick and distortion. It's 2019 alright.

Headless 6 strings require an equally stringed and headless bass I guess. Fuckin 2019

Her root notes are never in his territory so a 5 string isn't really needed. The contrasting tones work well in the mix. We can hear every note from every instrument. I think it's a great combo.

Saw Covet back in February, they're all so happy when they play, incredible stuff :D
I'm really disappointed in the internet and KZread for only presenting this band to me now. I needed this! But better late than never. I love a simplistic video not overly avant garde that lets the composition speak for itself. Love it!

Straight up love this band. Thank you so much…
The drummer can attest to the fact that the edibles on set were amazing.
Literally everything in this video makes perfect sense and is fully inspired by the play styles. The outfits, the camera angles, the expressions, the interactions, and the movement with their instruments is all so well coordinated and planned.
I've listened so many times to this masterpiece but have never treated myself to the joy of the video. It's always put me in a great mood. Now, I definitively know I'm not alone.
Two more dayyyyys!!! Can’t wait to see you guys in my hometown.
I'm 66 years old and the greatest decade of the sixties to seventies. It's nice to know that there are musicians keeping good grooves alive And that we survived 1995 to 2015

Good music has always been alive and well. Math rock, post rock, jazz fusion, technical death metal, other death metal, experimental electronic, etc.

(1995 - 2015) had some of the best music ever written in my opinion. Guess my age! There's amazing music in every generation if you take the time to look and listen.

As long as kids are still picking up guitars, new great music will always emerge. Even if its not so easy to get the cigar chomping suits at the record labels to pick it up (But I think it was always like that. Frank Zappa reckoned the reason so much experimental music came out in the late 60s was because the label executives where so confused by modern music, they'd sign anyone who had long hair and looked vaguely bohemian. And some of it was even good. The last time that really happened again was the early 90s when the sift away from the mainstream was so sudden the labels freaked out and signed anyone that looked vaguelly like they brought their clothes at a charity op-shop. And some of it was even good.) Moral of the story, great music rarely becomes chart topping because the record labels suddenly got good take. Its always an accident of confusion.
Just saw Covet for the first time last night! This is such a great song!
